So right for my husband and I. Very comfortable place to stay while exploring all that Cambria has to offer, sipping coffee in front of wood burning stove while listening to birds in the beautiful canyon was what the doctor ordered.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

All the previous reviews are correct: this is a beautiful cottage in Cambria; a wonderful, quiet, romantic retreat. The cottage itself is very comfortable, clean, and includes wonderful little comforts such as spacious window seats, robes, yoga mats, handcrafted lavender-scented toiletries, and a very well equipped kitchen. The setting is breathtaking and we really enjoyed the short hike to the town of Cambria from the cottage. The hosts are very kind and made us feel very welcomed in their beautiful place. We certainly hope to return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This place was perfect for my fiancee and I Out of all the places we have rented on vrbo, this is our favorite. This place was perfectly located to take advantage of the best central coast California has to offer. Cleanliness is something we are always kinda of worried about, but absolutely no worries here. This place is super clean and it still offers the good sense of coziness, if that makes sense. It seems like the owners really provide the best of the best in everything, even down to the high quality toiletries. We also really enjoyed the feel and view of the deck the property has. Perfect with a bottle of wine from the local wineries in Paso Robles. For couples, this is the place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We want to live here. What more need be said? We knew this was going to be an extraordinary stay when, walking our suitcases down the lovely garden path to the cottage, we encountered several small deer grazing on the grassy hillside below. This is a magical place. The moss dances in the trees above the cottage, the sunny window seats beg for napping company, and the sound of the distant ocean lulls one to sleep each night. Thoughtfully appointed, clean as a whistle, with little extras that pamper and delight. Comfy bed, antique furniture, wood burning iron stove/fireplace add a positive to the ambience. VERY private - the owners are respectfully absent, yet on the premises if needed. A short walk to the Cambria Pines Lodge where one can dine or ramble through its gardens. Speaking of gardens...Lissa and John's garden is a succulent lover's dream. We enjoyed sitting on the lower deck overlooking the canyon, listening to and watching birds, butterflies, squirrels, and, of course, the deer meander through the property. We thought twice about posting this review as we would like to keep this secret hideaway to ourselves, but we decided to be not so greedy. Stay here. You will LOVE it.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

After reading reviews on VRBO, we thought we found fine lodging for our last three days of 2012 and welcoming the new year. The cottage surpassed our expectations with its location (serene private hillside view of meadow, plants, trees, mosses and wildlife) and lovely interior (comfort, excellent taste, amenities). We highly recommend it for your visit to Cambria. Nidia EdfeltRecommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I NEEDED a getaway ... but where? I'm a California native, and as I 'shopped' on the VRBO website, Cambria popped out at me. The pictures of this magical cottage lured me in. By the way, pictures DO NOT do this little piece of heaven justice. But how can you 'post': fresh air rustling through the trees, the steady gentle pecking of red-headed woodpeckers, a family of wandering deer. A brisk jaunt on the boardwalk. Wiine on the deck. Simply delightful. The view of the ravine: breathtaking. We enjoyed a quiet Thanksgiving dinner under the light of the moon. Oh, and the crackling fire lulled us to sleep. We will be back, for sure. Thank you!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We traveled up the coast to this wonderful cottage. The stay was so relaxing and quiet. The kitchen is well appointed and we ended up cooking most the weekend and enjoyed watching the deer wonder in the yard while having brunch and coffee on the deck, and dinner and wine on the deck. The Cambria Pines Lodge is only a couple blocks and they have live music which we highly recommend a trip there with a flashlight. We recommend this wonderful cottage in the woods! It is sooo peaceful!Recommended for: Romantic getaway

This is such a comfortable, cozy, pretty cottage. The window seats are perfect for reading and watching the deer and the birds outside. Everything you need for an enjoyable stay in Cambria is provided: books, maps of the area, and recommendations for good hikes and good food. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and the cottage has plenty of soft towels and blankets. I am glad I choose this cottage. I liked everything about it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We made Garden Cottage a two-day experience en route and returning from southern CA. Sipping wine at sunset, quietly observing birds and a family of deer, was a healing and nurturing time. Garden Cottage with its overhead glass panels, its welcoming window seats and its solitude and serenity makes staying there an opportunity for renewing partnership and love. It has been thoughtfull designed and equipped for ultimate relaxationRecommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

I've needed to write this review for a couple of weeks! I had booked the cottage for 4th of July week in Cambria (the most wonderful place for it!) for myself and my guy, who is in the military. Unfortunately, he couldn't get released from a work project and couldn't make the trip, so I decided not to let it go to waste and made the trip on my own from Los Angeles. All I can say is, WOW. I had the most amazing stay. The setting is gorgeous, the cottage had everything I needed and the bed was SO comfortable! The woods were so soothing, and the bath products John and Lissa provide smell fantastic! I could tell that it would have been the ultimate romantic getaway. I will most DEFINITELY be booking another trip in the near future. The only thing that could have made the stay better would have been to have my boyfriend there with me. He will be next time for sure! Thanks again John and Lissa!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We enjoyed our stay in Cambria for our anniversary and adventurous jaunt down to Pismo Beach to ride the dunes. I loved the window seats, so enjoyable for reading in the morning. Also, the deck below was lovely for morning coffee or afternoon/evening wine (although we were out in town for the evenings!). The cottage was very clean, well cared for and tastefully decorated (not a lot of clutter), the bathroom was smaller than I would have liked, however, the kitchen sink area was nicely set up with a vanity area and other necessities. My husband liked that we were walking distance from the Cambria Pines Lodge for cocktails, live music and conversation. I loved the peaceful and beautiful nature right out our window. If we come back to Cambria, we would definitely stay here again. I really loved the place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights at the Garden Cottage, and it was incredibly enjoyable. If you're reading this review, you're likely trying to decide if a rental such as this is a better value and experience than a local hotel or B&B. I would say unequivocally that it is a much better value and experience, for a few reasons. - Location. The cottage is in a very quiet, peaceful forested canyon. If you are looking to relax in a comfortable and beautiful location, this is it. You are just a few minute drive from the beach & bluffs, a few minute walk from the village. - Space. The cottage itself is small, but very comfortable. The window seats are perfect for reading and relaxing, and the outdoor deck is spacious and great for lounging and viewing the local plant life, bird life, and wild life (we saw several deer in our 4 days there- including 2 fawns!) - Beauty. The canyon is lush and the landscaping around the property is incredible. I'd highly recommend the Garden Cottage. Yes, you are renting someone's cottage on their property. But the owners do a great job of making it feel like your own retreat, with a welcome letter, great guides to the local area, bath robes, small kitchen with sufficient dishes, lotions, bedding, towels, etc. We loved our 4 days at the Garden Cottage. We got to experience the beautiful Central Coast during the days, and experience a beautiful, quiet canyon in the evenings! Enjoy!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The wooded setting was accurately described, and exceeded our expectations. The studio cottage was tastefully and completely arranged for a guest's comfort, and the gardens surrounding the cottage were attractively planted with native varieties. Our host welcomed us warmly, then left us comfortably settled, to enjoy ouor privacy. We found the two window seats snug and delightful for reading and watching forest activities; at night, the triangular skylights provided a moonpath through the treetops. We have already recommended this cottage to our friends! We plan to return again in August for another experience in a beautiful Cambria setting. Cambria is a "boutique" town with interesting shops and restaurants; Moonstone Beach has a great Boardwalk along the ocean. There are elephant seals and the Hearst Castle, and wineries nearby.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

My husband and I arrived at this magical lit-up cottage under the moon's watch and it was like a beautiful homecoming of our spirits. This was the perfect romantic get-away with amenities like: complementary cotton robes, a side table of stirring poetry & books, hot chocolate, coffee and teas, dreamy local exotic nature lotions, soaps and shampoos--all begging us to unwind. Lying in bed in the morning, we looked up through skylights at giant trees with moss dangling and blowing softly like tresses. We took up reading in separate wind deep cushioned window seats which overlooked the sun-kissed private deck and beautiful gardens lined with carpet roses and pearly abolone shells. So much more than meets the eye of the camera lens! You have to come--throw open the windows, breathe in the eucalyptus air, visit the red moose cookie factory (another tucked-away gem), and join the hummingbirds in the search for something sweet! The owner left us a hand-written note detailing the wi-fi password, (though we didn't activate it) and that was the only contact we had with them. We appreciated the complete privacy they afforded us.Recommended for: Romantic getaway

The Garden Cottage was an ideal place to stay! It was lovely inside and out. It was very private and out of view of other houses. The birdsong was lovely. A highlight for me was sitting in the lovely chair overlooking the hollow as a fawn played in the grass.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

Unique experience, lovely cottage, complete privacy. While it is just a short walk to "downtown" Cambria, this is a great experience on its own. This is the place to stay. So well appointed there is everything that you would need. The bed was perfect (with excellent linens). Be sure to try the handmade toiletries provided. Enjoy some of the local wine while sitting on the deck. You will discover why people come to the Central Coast.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent a weekend in Cambria staying in the cottage. The cottage was clean and furnished with attention to detail and comfort. We loved the bay window. The cottage is within easy driving distance to everything the area has to offer, yet it felt like we were in our own secluded dwelling. We enjoyed a glass of wine on the deck while being entertained by the wildlife, including turkeys, deer and woodpeckers. Although you cannot see the ocean from the cottage, the view of the trees and hills was serene and relaxing. We would stay here again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

When I woke up from my first night at this very well appointed cottage and I was greeted with views of verdant hillsides and towering pines I knew I had made the right choice. For a hundred bucks you get a full kitchen, a very cute fireplace, an exceedingly comfortable bed (with very nice linens) and all the other amenities you come to expect from a hotel (including high speed WiFi) except without the other guests! All that and grounds on the property are lush and relaxing. I was tempted to spend most of my time there, and probably would have, had the siren song of the beach and Cambria's adorable downtown district not tempted me into leaving. The bottom line? It's a wonderful cottage that you can get for a song. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I enjoyed another incredible weekend in Cambria made even better by our stay in the Garden Cottage. The location is fantastic - close to town yet secluded and quiet. The cottage itself had everything we needed along with warmth and charm. It was cozy and comfortable, and the garden deck gave us more space to enjoy this magical location. An afternoon spent reading in the window seat was so wonderful. If you're looking for a peaceful place to get away and want to experience the essence of Cambria, I highly recommend the Garden Cottage!Recommended for: Romantic getaway

We have visited Cambria several times and I have to say that this was our most peaceful & restful visit yet. Staying in your adorable cottage gave us just the right amount of room and it was so comfortable (and clean!) We had everything we could need right there in the serenity of nature's beauty; yet only a 5 minute walk to Cambria Pines Lodge for a delicious meal. Thank you too, for all the cozy extras that made our weekend one that we'll always treasure. We especially enjoyed our morning coffee, each lounging in the window beds, watching deer feed and feeling as though we were right outside with them. When we return to Cambria we've already decided to stay here again. Anyone wanting to experience such a peaceful and romantic retreat without having to venture far away from town to find it, will absolutely love it here. Thank you for availing this cozy cottage for others of us to enjoy...absolutely delightful. You can tell you put a lot of love into this!
