Spend lazy days on the porch overlooking the pond or ski away the winter afternoons at Big Rock! Just 20 minutes from Presque Isle, home of the world-famous Biathlon. Stay a week or a year (reduced rates for longer term stays). Come experience the unique spiritual energy that draws so many creative individuals to Magic Pond for the purpose of growing artistically and enriching the soul.
We offer two cottages with 3 guest suites: in the Main Cottage, the Pond Suite and in the Studio Cottage the Woods Suite and Sky Suite. Each has private kitchen and bathroom, local t.v. with dvd, WIFI access via dsl, peaceful views of the pond and woods and well-maintained, modern accommodations.

Dear Linda, I wanted to thank you for our stay at Magic Pond. It was easily as wonderful as advertised. So quiet, so peaceful, so serene. It was exactly what was looking for and needed. We enjoyed driving all over Aroostook County and found it to be a low-key, lovely place. I can see why you bought property there. Merlin and Carolyn are exceptional. They could not have been more helpful or kind. I think you're quite lucky to have found them. I can't imagine anyone more competent than Merlin! I very much enjoyed and appreciated the photography session-- it was so helpful and gave me a lot to work with during out stay-- I took about 5000 pictures! Thank you.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2001
About the owner: Hi, there! I'm retired from geriatric social work (a whistle-blower in long term care), having set out on a new career in fine art photography about 20 years ago. I travel with my two dogs much of the year to experience particularly powerful landscapes with unique spiritual energy. I welcome you to come share the very special place I am blessed to call home in Maine.
Why the Owner Chose Mars Hill:
Magic Pond is not just a rental. It is where my soul lives and I chose this location for the profoundly stirring energy that rises from the spring-fed pond beneath the gaze of Mars Hill Mountain. I wanted others to be able to enjoy the deeply personal interaction that can happen at Magic Pond between people and the natural world as it was created. I wanted others to be able to have unusual and enlightening dreams; to walk in the footprints of moose; to hear the frogs piping while napping on the porch. I built special guest quarters to allow artists and other spiritually attuned visitors the chance to experience inspiration at such a deep level that it frequently changes the course of guests' lives.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We are unique in many ways, among them by being both in a wilderness location but with a manager on-site. This makes Magic Pond especially comfortable for women traveling alone or anyone who longs for contact with the primitive world but lacks experience living alone in such a potentially dangerous environment. We provide easy trails, instant cellphone response and whatever guidance a guest might desire in planning an unforgettable north woods experience. Star-gazing is unequalled from our property far from city lights and yet groceries and a drug store are only five minutes away. We are in the best of two worlds: one of convenience and one of the unforgiving wild.
