This was the perfect apartment to start our 2 1/2 week vacation in Germany. It is a very roomy place for a four-person family, and is well stocked with everything you need except food, which you can get from the local store. The "Haus Meister" (Jurgen) lives just down the road and is very friendly, he can help you with anything you might need. The owners have prepared a book full of information of all the fun things to do in the area. We kept ourselves busy with the local Black Forest towns (Triberg, Titisee, Freiburg) as well as day trips to Zurich, Strasbourg, and Stuttgart which are only 1-2 hours away. The kitchen is well stocked with all the cooking items you need, although the local restaurants are so good you won't need to eat in. The only minor downside during our stay was that the building's indoor pool was out of order and was under repair while we stayed there, so instead we used the pool in town which was free thanks to the KONUS tourist activity card that we got with our rental. The card entitles guests to free or discounted access to many local attractions, it's a great deal. I highly recommend this apartment!

The apartment in Schonwald was perfect for a week's stay for 2 couples (apartment actually sleeps 6 very comfortably). We were able to travel in all directions and see many areas in a matter or an hour or two. Castles, caves, churches, lakes, wasserfalls, wine country - all within easy reach. The property was clean, had everything you need to cook if you want and easy access to restaurants and grocery stores. Would highly recommend for a week's stay at any time of the year. September was perfect!

The apartment is fantastic!! Starting from our first contact with the caretaker (Jurgen), who spoke excellent English and couldn't have been more helpful, to when we sadly departed, we had an excellent holiday. The apartment is very well equipped with many of the smaller details taken care of (dishwasher tablets, foil, wrap etc......even birthday cake candles !!!) The views are fantastic along the valley and we loved the village of Schonwald. The pool was great fun and we had this to ourselves for the entire week. The Konus card came in handy when visiting Triberg Falls and playing minigolf in the town. The only negative point I would mention is the stairs inside the apartment up to the second level. We felt these weren't suitable for our 3 year old as the steps were both higher and steeper than normal stairs and so he had sleep downstairs. However, overall the apartment is far better than many other, more expensive places we have stayed and we felt it was excellent value for money. I would definitely recommend this apartment and we hope to return one day.

Never have we stayed in such a spacious, clean and well equipped holiday home. It was just as descibed and our bed linen and towels were changed at the end of the first week. The indoor pool was bigger than expected and while I enjoyed an early morning swim my husband ran through the forest behind the apartment. The views were beautiful from the balcony and the roof terrace and we all enjoyed sitting and reading in glorious sunshine. The quiet town of Schonwald is a good base to explore the Black Forest and experience all that it has to offer. Having 2 teenagers (15 & 18) we particularly enjoyed eating out at the Kolmnhof in Martinskapelle and at Gasthof Rossle in the Weissenbach, both were welcoming and served delicious food. We hired a boat at Lake Titisee, swam in Lake Schluchsee and made 2 train journeys, one to Freiburg (using the Konus card) and another to Konstanz. Other trips included Europa Park (just as good as Disney Land Paris), the Sensory Park and Rodelbahn at Gutach and several visits to the freibads (outdoor pools) at Triberg and Schonwald to cool off after long hot days! Several guests found that one week wasn't enough, however we found that two weeks wasn't enough!! We would definitely return again. Thanks Eddy and Hilde for a great holiday.

A really comfortable apartment, equipped with everything you need for your vacation. Picture-postcard views of the green hills and forests out of the windows always looked beautiful, and the village is quiet but has all the shops you need and restaurants close by, or a short drive into Triberg for larger stores. Lovely clean air because of the altitude (1000m). The downstairs pool was ideal for a dip, although the spiral staircase may be awkward for people of restricted mobility or with babes in arms. Loads to see in the area, and the driving is easy and always at a sedate pace! All-in-all, very good value and highly recommended.

My wife and I and 2 travelling companions spent a week in this apartment in mid June 2011. As world travellers for some 20 years, we can honestly say that this apartment is probably the best equipped and most comfortable we have stayed in over that time. The owners have provided everything to make their guests very comfortable . It is immaculately maintained, spotlessly clean and well located with just a short walk to shops, restaurants etc .The views from the balconies provide a beautiful rural outlook and we can just imagine what it would be like in winter shrouded in snow. The owners,Hilde and Eddy, were generous hosts with their time in answering, in some detail, any queries prior to our arrival. Also their caretaker, Heinz-Jurgen and his wife greeted us warmly and assisted us to settle in hassle free. We would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to family and friends. As an aside, and to make our holiday even more enjoyable we were able to attend an outdoor band concert one evening in the local park. What a bonus!! and one of our more memorable evenings.

My daughter (11), my mom and myself stayed at this spacious apartment in May 2011. It was everything the ad described and more. Eddy and Hilde were easy to deal with. The apt was clean and in excellent condition. The owners are very receptive to any comments that have been left in the past. The views from all sides of the apt were beautiful. Tons of windows and 2 balconies; one with sun all day! It was so peaceful; only the birds as noise! The villages nearby are all very easy to get to on the public bus system. Triberg has Germany's longest waterfall and many cuckoo clock shops also a couple of very nice restuarants to eat and drink at. Shopping is good in Triberg too. Lake Titisee is about a half hour drive and you can take the bus. But we really enjoyed just hanging out at the apartment and relaxing with wine and beer. My daughter loved the privacy of the upstairs loft area which has tons of toys and a tv/dvd. Also there is a small indoor pool to enjoy. Everything was perfect and I hope to go back again. There are tons of hiking trails right out your back door that allow one to enjoy the wilderness and beauty of the Black forest without getting lost! Thank you Eddy and Hilde!

Where to start... Eddy and Hilde were unbelievably responsive during the booking process, answered our many questions and flexible in accomodating some unique circumstances. The apartment itself has everything one could possibly need - we were impressed to see that they asked for guests to leave suggestions of things they'd like and that those are then ticked off over time (for example a hair dryer) - evidence that they take this seriously. Apartment was clean and in good condition with nice bathroom and functional kitchen. Our girls liked the character of the separate bedroom upstairs. Caretaker was very helpful and the location is wonderful - we used it as a base to do different day trips, but you do need to allow some time to drive on the narrow and scenic roads. Grocery store down the street has everything essential and the we really enjoyed a local restaurant that the owners had recommended - outstanding food. Hard to think of any material negatives - perhaps if you wanted to be really picky then it would be nice if there was a way to get into the garage from the outside parking spot instead of having to walk all the way around the building - but that is only an inconvenience if you have heavy things to carry (and there are workarounds). All in all, I'd unreservedly recommend this apartment.

Wow, wow, wow. This place is even better and nicer than the photos and description suggest. We spent a week here in late September, 2010, and had a wonderful time with our two young children. The apartment is very large and spread over two floors, and has all of the mod cons you would ever need for a comfortable stay. The location of Schonwald is ideal, with all of the day trip possiblities within an hour's drive in any direction. The village itself is quiet, but has all the grocery stores, banks, bakerei/konditorei (bakery and patisseries) and metzgereis (butchers) you will need. There is also a large outdoor pool and minigolf area (closed during our stay, unfortunately), and a huge playground for the kids, including a zip line, which was a real hit with our 3 year old. The indoor pool in the building is a bonus for rainy days, but is a little hard to access with very young children (a steep spiral staircase is difficult with wet feet while carrying a struggling 28 lb toddler). The same goes for the upstairs of the apartment, which is accessed by a steep ladder staircase. This would be fine for older children, say over the age of 7 or 8, but younger children must be assisted and supervised to avoid falls. Eddy and Hilde were a real pleasure to deal with over email, and their caretaker, Heinz-Jurgen, is also very helpful and friendly. The KONUS card is a pretty good deal - it grants you access to the Triberg waterfall viewing areas, and almost pays for itself through this use alone. We also used it to go by train to St-Georgen and Donaueschingen, which the children loved, as there are lots of tunnels and steep drop-offs along the journey. Overall, we highly recommend this apartment. We were very sorry to leave and plan to return in a few years time. Thanks again, Eddy and Hilde!

This is a very well equipped, spacious and comfortable apartment in the heart of the Black Forest. It is in a good location for touring and sightseeing or, as we mostly did, just relaxing and enjoying walks, bike rides and runs through the Forest. Schönwald is fairly quiet, but there are enough local restaurants to provide variety - especially if you don't mind a walk. The open air pools (Schönwald & Triberg) are both excellent. The local people are friendly and welcoming.

We really enjoyed our stay at this apartment in Schonwald. The kids loved the upstairs room with their own TV/DVD player and space to play boardgames etc. The swimming pool proved very popular also. Schonwald itself was very quiet for the period we were there with most restaurants either closed or empty with the exception of the Gasthof Rossle which was a very pleasant 3 km walk from the apartment. The apartment itself was very spacious and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay.

Just came back from a little less than a two week stay in the apartment. It is wonderful and exactly as listed. Very comfortable for our family of six, roomy, clean, well equipped and in a beautiful location. Can't say enough about how pretty/peaceful it is to look out over the town/valley from the main deck. During our stay we did overnights in Zurich, Wurzburg and Heidelberg. Good places to visit, but all six of us were looking forward to getting back to peaceful Schonwald. Great value, and we would highly recommend it. The locations to visit are well cover in the other reviews, but a few additional tips: The Konus cards are picked up at the Information Center in the Rathaus (behind the church). We used it to get into the Triberg falls for free, and for a train ride (you can go as far south as Donaueschingen, and as far north as Baden-Baden for free). Also used it for free bus rides around Baden-Baden. You get on the train in Triberg. The Pizzeria is excellent (ask for an English menu), especially if you have kids, as are both bakeries and the butcher shop. The playground off the main road, sort of opposite the Pizzeria, is very nice if you have younger kids. For groceries, the Aldi in Furtwagen has great prices, better than Walmart in the States, on almost everything you would need. If you are visiting Schonwald, you really need a car to see the area, and you will definitely need a GPS: Lots of little roads leading to the different sites, and to parking areas in the cities. All the little roads require a lot more travel time than in the States, so even the 30 miles to Freiberg takes about an hour. Nice thing is the scenery is so beautiful that the extra time in the car is not a big deal.

We spent one week in April 2010 and we really enjoyed our stay in Schonwald. The apartment is located in a quiet area, is spacious, very well equipped and comfortable. We were very lucky with the weather and we visited Freiburg, Triberg, Titisee, St Peter, St Margen… But Schonwald also offers a lot of hiking paths to walk in the forest and discover the region. For instance we hiked during a 4 hours trip to see the source of the Danube river. I would certainly recommend this apartment to my friends or colleagues as I really had a great time in Schonwald. Thanks to Eddy & Hilde. Alain

We stayed in Aug 2009.2 Grandparents + young Mum and Dad with 2 yound boys 3 and 5 years old.Grandparents in the loft up the steep !!! stairs, we are 63 and could manage it-- as it was a bit risky to let the young boys up and down without supervision we were quite safe from being jumped on in the mornings.A hide-away !!! The rest of the large apartment was wonderful, very well equipped with all you needed for a sumptuous family meal and dishwasher !!! heaven. The pool in the basement was larger than we expected and lovely sauna after long forest walks.Grandchildren loved the pool, and young Mum & Dad escaped to the sauna while G & G looked after the wound up 200mph grandchildren. The view from the top floor over the valley is stunning even in a morning magical mist. The descriptions and photos tell no lies and we did most of the trips the other visitors did and more-- even went for a trip to the Alsace vinyards. As we overdosed on ham and sausage and pork and sausage and ham and then some more ham we brought back some steak from France!!! but we had a ham starter. Eddy and Hilde were so helpful with extra info and could not fault the financial exchanges.10/10 and 5 ***** service. Some large holiday companies could learn much from them.We have given this information to so many of our friends. Thank you, Ken & Hilary

As a family of 5, with two teens and a college student, we could not have picked a better location and/or flat in which to stay. The apartment was so very comfortable, full of nice amenities, clean and very modern with a beautiful view of the valley. The location was perfect with so many choices for day trips. We had so much fun visiting nearby countries as well as enjoying the numerous local sites. Just driving around the Black Forest area was a delight in itself. We also loved walking the many nearby trails around the town and through the wooded areas. Walking to and from such a wonderful restaurant like the Rossle was a special delight. We would highly recommend this section of Germany for an extended vacation, and believe that this apartment is the perfect place to spend a relaxing week or two taking in the many beautiful and historically rich sites in close proximity.

We are a family of five and agree with all of the positive comments below, after our recent stay in Eddy and Hilde's apartment. It is comfortable, spacious and well equipped. It is suitable for either venturing out on day trips (lots of tips in the literature in the apartment), or for relaxing in the local area without any travelling. Nice kitchen to cook in or several local places to eat out, with recommendations again in the apartment.

We had a fabulous week in Schönwald (18.-25.7.) at Eddy and Hilde's apartment. The flat with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths was very spacious, extremely comfortable and well-equipped. Our school kids (7 & 9 yrs) loved to stay upstairs in their own peace around all the nice toys, books and DVDs. The stairs weren't too steep for our 4yr old son either to climb up the "kids' kingdom". The kitchen was very well-equipped, easy to find anything you needed. The kids loved the +30 C heated indoor swimming pool to drop in whenever. The sauna was nice and tidy - and such a nice bath it was!... almost like an original Finnish sauna. Doing the laundry was handy, for 2 euros and 1,5 hrs you got a mass of clean clothes in the basement. The "Housemeister" Jurgen was amazing -so helpful with all the bags and luggage when we arrived, showing Eddy and Hilde's folders full of trip tips, and really made us feel "home". Thanks again! The views from the balcony were breathtaking! We loved Triberg, a town famous for cuckoo clocks and water fall, just 15 minutes (8km) from the apt, and Europe park was superb for the kids, just an hour away. The nature was Amazing and the local people so friendly. We are extremely happy for staying at this apartment during our stay in Schwarzwald area and would highly recommend it to other families. Eddy and Hilde - thank You so much for the fantastic family holiday!

Our family holiday was truly Amazing! The location makes an excellent base for exploring the Black Forest and there is so much to do and see it is impossible to do in one trip. The flat was very nice, modern, clean and well-maintained. It is a great place to relax and unwind after an exciting day of exploring, sightseeing and dining. We enjoyed relaxing on the balcony and soaking in the beautiful view with a glass of wine or one of the many great local beers that are available. The kitchen is well equipped if you want to stay in and cook. There are chairs and a table included for relaxing on the balcony. The kids really enjoyed the indoor swimming pool. The apartment had a lot of little extra touches that gave it a nice home feel. There are a few shops and restaurants in walking distance. The bakery makes some excellent pastries (chocolate croissants, apple strudels and fresh bread) and there is an excellent local pizzeria on the main street that we highly recommend. There is a local market within easy walking distance. There are also some nice restaurants to enjoy in Triberg. We highly suggest that you take advantage of the free KONUS cards that are included with your stay. They allow you free travel on the trains within the Black Forest area and you can get a copy of the train schedules from the local tourist office. All of the locals were very friendly and helpful and the flat has many helpful maps and tourist guides to help you plan your day trips. You can catch the train in Triberg which is only a few minutes from the flat. The apartment is great for teens as the upstairs loft gives them some privacy and you some peace and quiet. You can enjoy a day at Europa Park which is only an hour away. The only negative was the washing machine. We had problems with it and it was very expensive to do a load of laundry. Everything else was truly wonderful! We will come back again and we have already recommended this flat to all of our family and friends. To Eddy and Hilde - Thanks again for everything! Jack and Bea

Spacious and modern 3 bedroom 2 bath flat set on top of a hill in a quaint German village. Perfect location for family skiing - we even took our one year old out to the local ski slope with us just a five minute drive away. More challenging skiing in Feldberg is also a short drive away. Views of the town in the valley from the kitchen and living area balconies are breathtaking. Just outside the back door lies green forest with loads of hiking trails along with a recreation area including tennis courts. Great restaurants and shops within walking distance. Eddy and Hilde set this flat up nicely with EVERYTHING - including baby cot, toys, books, movies, etc. Our family looks forward to visiting this newly remodeled location again for another exciting yet relaxing ski holiday.

The Konus card was brilliant as it allowed me to spend some time on my own hiking while "the kids" went off on their own via the excelllent public transport. And we made full use of the tennis club which was particularly appreciated. Thanks again. The Eaton family plus one.

It was really helpful to find local info and maps for days out, and plenty of DVDs, games, toys and books to keep us occupied on rainy days when we weren't enjoying the indoor swimming pool. We stayed in the apartment during the first week of August 2008, and really enjoyed our time in Schonwald. Our two teenage girls immediately made themselves at home in the upstairs "den", and really loved the freedom it gave them. They would watch certain movies from the extensive library with the "oldies", but also kept others for more private viewing on their own TV / DVD system up there. They also made plenty of use of the indoor pool and sauna in the building. The apartment is very well equipped, and even the most fussy family would find it difficult to suggest further additions to the equipment supplied. Above all else, the apartment is beautifully maintained and clean. The village of Schonwald is pure "Chocolate Box" country, and when coupled with the array of sporting facilities is a great "find" for any visitors. If you want a real "get away from it all" type of holiday, you really should give Eddy and Hilde's place strong consideration.

We had an absolutely fantastic holiday (29 Dec 2007 - 5 Jan 2008). The apartment was ideally located, very clean, with an extremely well equipped kitchen, plenty of towels and bedding and also good laundry facils. The balconies provided amazing views of the scenic landscape (snowed covered trees and views during our stay). We had lots of snow during the week which was excellent, so we bought a sledge to pull our little 2yr old son on through the village and down the slopes, whilst we hired some skis and boots and ventured onto the nursery slopes opposite the sports shop - very reasonable prices per day for hire. We thoroughly enjoyed it - maybe next time we may venture onto the ski lifts! We also enjoyed the swimming pool - ideally located in the basement and a real bonus to take a dip whenever. Worth noting that with our UK summer tyres we really did need the snow chains on our VW Golf car to get up the road to the apartment and up the road to the ski slope. Everywhere else in the village was fine, and the surrounding villages seemd to have less snow (lower ground). Also worth noting that's it's wise to bring a few essentials if you intend to arrive late Saturday afernoon/evening without stopping beforehand to stock up as the local supermarkets are shut. So a bottle of water, cereal and milk for the morning worth a thought. We loved the Triberg waterfall, Freiberg, Hinterzarten (very picturesque) as well as the nearby village of Schonach, and purchased a cuckoo clock from the world's largest cuckoo clock (and shop) for our son's bedroom. An excellent property perfect for little ones to run around as well all on one level as well as plenty of DVDs for them to watch and for evenings in. We didn't use the upstairs room at all (note: the stairs are very steep for very little ones), but we certainly had plenty of room for the three of us on the lower floor - but this extra room with it's own ensuite would be great for older children (8 yrs plus) or another couple. Thank you Eddy and Hilde for all your information and advice and for the guidance and tourist notes in the apartment and on the bulletin boards. BRILLIANT! We'll be back!

Although we've returned home to the daily grind now, we're all wishing we were still up in Schoenwald!! We had a wonderful week in the Black Forest, due in no small part to this great flat. The owners and caretakers ensured that we had everything we needed during our stay. It's a very clean building and tasteful flat located in a great, low-key town. It's hard to imagine how the flat could have been better. We went for long walks and enjoyed magnificent views (especially amazing sunrises) from the balcony and kitchen. We also got that lucky combination of lots of snow on the ground and plenty of sunshine. We would definitely recommend this place for anyone headed to the Black Forest or just looking to relax in a nice, unpretentious setting.

We have read all the previous comments and wholeheartedly agree with them. The apartment is wonderful, fully equipped with all mod cons (loved the dishwasher). The area is beautiful and very peaceful and we wanted for nothing. However, if you arrive on Saturday afternoon or Sunday take your own basic provisions as the nearest supermarket was around 8km away in Furtwangen. We had a scary moment as when we went to pay the bill and offered our credit card we found they only accepted cash - so make sure you have enough euros too!! All in all a wonderful week and very many thanks to Eddy who made the whole experience from start to finish hassle and pain free. We would definately book with him again either in Schonwald or France if we are visiting these areas again.
Owner response:The two supermarkets in Schonwald are closed on Saturday afternoon, and Sunday. Nearest supermarket open whole Saturday is in Furtwangen.

We had an excellent holiday at schonwald apartment. The apartment was spacious, clean and had all comodities. It was very central to some wonderful places that we visited. We will definitely visit this part of Germany again and hopefully rent this apartment. We would also like to hear about the apartment in France. Rating 10/10 highly recommended.
Owner response:Thanks for the comment. The Villa in France is available starting 02-Aug-2008. See Vacation Rentals by Owner Listing #143527

07/28/07After a hectic week elsewhere in Europe we found the apartment to be a welcoming and relaxing experience. We had plenty of space for ourselves and our two children and found everything we could want as well as many extras. The view was fantastic and the children loved the indoor pool. The guest card (KONUS) was very useful and was excellent value considering the amount of times we used it. I would strongly recommend your apartment and we hope to be back some time. I have no hesitation in recommending this appartment which was clean, well maintained and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It is situated in a lovely part of the Black Forest and the view from the balcony is excellent. Lots of tips were provided about places to eat/visit. These, the maps and all the extra little touches were much appreciated. We had a great week there and just wished we could have stayed longer.

Our family had a wonderful stay at this apartment. Accurate descriptions of the apartment left no surprises. We had plenty of room for our 3 children (18, 17 and 14) and enjoyed the quiet, peaceful surroundings. Fabulous views from the balconies. Plenty of maps, guidebooks, day-trip ideas, DVD's, etc. We travel frequently and were impressed with this apartment, especially the kitchen - extremely well-equipped and a very efficient use of space. We used the laundry, sauna, and indoor pool. The stairs to the second floor sleeping area and bathroom could be challenging for some, but our teenagers had no problems. Well done Eddy and Hilde!

We had a wonderful stay at Eddy and Hilde’s apartment in the Black Forest, we stayed with our 3 children, 12, 13 and 10 and my parents, it was comfortable for all, the apartment is immaculate and very nicely furnished, out of 3 very nice apartments we stayed at over the month of June, Eddy and Hilde’s was our favorite! The children loved it! We did a lot of touring about to Titisee, Bodensee, Triburg and Alsace. We highly recommend the apartment and can’t wait until we can return again!

We LOVED this apartment and Schönwald and can't wait to return. The owner made the reservation process simple and offered vacation suggestions. His caretaker was friendly and helpful. He waited for our arrival and explained the apartment. The apartment is clean, comfortable, and quiet. We had everything we needed in the kitchen and living spaces. Two balconies offer views of the village. There was one ethernet cable for Internet access, and dozens of DVDs in English, games, and children's toys for rainy weather. We used the indoor pool and sauna and laundry. We also enjoyed the hiking trails, soccer fields, and mini golf. Beyond the village were castles and waterfalls and bike trails galore. Eddy and Hilde provide piles of maps and instructions for everything. We plan to book another vacation in this wonderful apartment.

We LOVED this apartment and wish we had booked more time. Eddy made the pre-vacation plans simple, and the apartment caretaker was friendly and helpful. The apartment itself was perfectly comfortable, clean, and efficient. We found everything we needed. The mountain hikes were a dream. We used the indoor pool and sauna when it rained.I would recommend this apartment to anyone unless you have trouble walking upstairs. There was no elevator, and the apartment is on the top floor. This gives it terrific views of Schönwald from two balconies. Thank you Eddy and Hilde. (The balcony roses are growing well!)

This is a great place and the location excellent to enjoy the sights of the surrounding Schwarwald. The unit is modern, very well-appointed and roomy with two lovely balconies for enjoying the views from its hilltop position - either follow the sun or seek the shade as the day progresses. We stayed for 3 weeks and can only say that the service we received from Eddy and the caretaker was excellent - nothing was ever too much trouble. And the library is great too. We will definitely return here.

A spacious well equipped appartment set in a picturesque village. The views from the balcony were breathtaking. A great base to explore the rest of the Black Forest Region. The indoor pool was great, and the pretzels from the bakers were scrummy!

This is the first property that we have stayed at that completely lives up to the descriptions and pictures. The apartment is comfortable, spacious and brilliant. It is fully equiped as a normal residence from a proper kitchen to an iron and ironing board. The apartment is in a 'quiet area' and the peace is very relaxing. The swimming pool is not the biggest but we swam twice a day and the children especially found it superb. We went at Easter when the outdoor pools were closed. The scenery was stunning and all the people were exceptionally helpful and kind especially in light of our poor German vocabulary. We never found the recommended restaurants but the ones we went to were great (recommendations in the apartment visitor comments). In summary the area is superb, the apartment is brilliant and the people were very welcoming. We have all come away with a strong desire to return especially as there is so much more to do and see.

We had a really great 'carnaval' break in Schonwald (despite the lack of snow).Eddy & Hilde's apartment is clean, well-furnished and well-equipped, and right on the edge of the forest. Can definitely recommend it.

The apartment and location were perfect If we were to be a bit "picky" the stairs to the top room were too steep and the lack of English-speaking channels on satellite was a bind (however the supplied DVD collection kept us all happily entertained). It would also be helpful to have clearer instuctions on recycling ie. tins, cardboard, different plastics etc. The views from the balcony are wonderful (it was a lovely end to New Years Eve to see the village and enjoy the fireworks). The locals were also very pleasant and friendly and we had a great New Year Eve at the local Gasthof oppposite the bakers in the village. Would highly recommend to friends and family.
Owner response:Dear Wynne family. Thanks for the positive comments. We plan to add English and Dutch language channels soon, and add recycling notes near the waste bins. Hope to welcome you or your friends again !

We had a great week in Schonwald. The appartment was superb. It was well equipped in every sense. There were lots of information leaflets on day trips etc. which were very useful. The selection of videos, dvds and games were huge - my kids couldn't wait to get back from a day out so that they could watch a DVD or play a game! There are so many things to see and do in the area and not necessarily with a car. There was a bus stop down the road and you could get a bus into town or to the railway station. We'd love to come back and see more. We'll definitely recommend this appartment to friends. Thank you Eddy & Hilde!

We were two couples from Australia & New Zealand on a 4 week holiday in Germany. Our visit to Eddy & Hilde's apartment in Schwartzwald was certainly a highlight of our trip. Nowhere else did we have an apartment equipped with every conceivable item. It was a pleasure to return each evening after an exhaustive day touring the Black Forest ( as well as France & Switzerland ) to an apartment that was so comfortable & tranquil. Our week was blessed with such beautiful weather, sunny, & not a breath of wind, and most breakfasts were taken outside on the balcony (what a treat!!) Comfortable beds, great bathroom, and a spacious lounge area made our visit just perfect. We were sad to leave. We have travelled extensively using Gites/Apartments/Villas in Europe and would highly recommend Eddy & Hilde's apartment

Having good quality accommadation on holiday is a real bonus, Eddy and Hilde appartment definitely scores A plus. Comfortable and fully equipped to a very high standard, you can only but enjoy yourself when returning from various day trips. We would include on this list trips to Villingen for sites and shopping, Freiburg for beautiful city and local sites and if you feel that you could be interested, take a trip on the local train from Villingen northwards through Triberg to Hausach for spectacular scenery and feats of engineering. Trains run every hour approx, tickets are very cheap. If you are a real train buff outside the station in Hausach is the biggest model railway exhibition in Germany, based upon the line that you have just travelled on. N.B.closed on Mondays. Obviously there is lots more to do than the above soaking up the local beautiful scenery is just one of them. P.S. Great thanks to Gunther for his great efforts on the maintenance front.

WE TRAVELLED FROM SPAIN TO SCHONWALD AND NEVER HAVING SEEN GERMANY BEFORE, WE WERE STRUCK IMMEDIATELY WITH THE CLEANLINES OF THE COUNTRYSIDE. AND THE HELPFULNESS OF THE PEOPLE. EVEN THE BAKER, BY THE END OF THE HOLIDAY, WAS SAYING GRACIAS TO US. WE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED OUR STAY, WITH THE APARTMENT SO WELL APPOINTED, EVERYTHING FOR OUR ASSISTANCE, INFORMATION AND DIRECTIONS TO VARIOUS POINTS OF INTEREST. UNFORTUNATELY, WE ARE NOT IN OUR FIRST YOUTH AND MY HUSBAND HAS A "LEG BONE" PROBLEM, WHICH MADE THE POSITION WHERE THE APARTMENT IS SITUATED RATHER DIFFICULT FOR ACCESS. MY DAUGHTER AND SON IN LAW TRAVELLED SOUTH TO JOIN US, AND THEY MADE THINGS FAR EASIER FOR US. WE WOULD NOT HAVE HAD SUCH AN ENJOYABLE TIME WITHOUT THEIR ASSISTANCE. I WOULD ASK THAT THE TIMES OF THE MASSES ON SUNDAYS AND CHURCH HOLIDAYS BE ON VIEW AT THE APARTMENT, AS WE COULD NOT FIND THESE READILY AVAILABLE AT THE CHURCH. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS THE VIEWS WERE FANTASTIC, THE APARTMENT LEFT NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO BE DESIRED. WE ALL ENJOYED OURSELVES, WITH MY DAUGHTER AND HER HUSBAND TRAVELLING ON TO SWITZERLAND FOR THE SECOND WEEK. THEY BOTH LATER REMARKED THAT, THE BLACK FOREST AND THE APARTMENT WAS FOR THEM MORE ENJOYABLE THAN SWITZERLAND.

We stayed at the Schönwald apartment for a week in July. We had a great time. My wife and I stayed in the very comfortable large master bedroom, our two "little" kids (7&5) shared the adjoing queen bed room and our 12 year old and a 21 y/o cousin shared the upstairs. The appartment was beautifully furnished, comfortable and we really found nothing major missing. There were many local and regional maps, many DVDs, many books (novels/autiobiographies etc) and plenty of games (and even some Barbee's for our little ones!) The basement indoor pool was great for a quick dip, but we favored the Schönwald public outdoor pool. The indoor public pool was great in bad weather (1 day out of 7). We can also recommend the pool in Triberg - great slide - 6 thumbs up!We did a bunch of hiking (trails start behind the apartment) and visited the Triberg water falls, the "Donau Quelle" (Spring of the Danube), the Titisee (including pool) and had a great time at the KookooClock museum in Furtwangen. The atmosphere was so relaxed, we found it hard to leave after a week and plan on returning.Hat off to Hilde and Eddie for keeping their place so tiedy, comfortable and well equipped! We give the Schönwald Apartment 10 thumbs up! On financial matters: Eddie and Hilde accept money direct deposited in the US and Europe and the security deposit was returned promptly.
