Added July 1, 2013 -- Sadly, we have had to ammend this listing. After many successful rentals to lovely families, we rented the house in June 2013 to the Ryonet Corporation and Richard and Maria Swanson of Portland Oregon. Upon returning home after their departure, we found that they had left the kitchen disgusting, toilets un-flushed and full of toilet paper, our children's toys broken and strewn about, electronics and furniture had been moved or disconnected and not returned, and locked drawers had been gone through. It took 2 people 5 hours to return the house to a liveable condition. The cause of this was either than the Swansons and their party had to do without phone and internet connection for 16 hours of their one week stay (about which they were very upset) due to a fault with our provider; or they are simply disgusting people with no regard for the homes or belongings of others.
Whilst it shouldn't have to be said to anyone considering the use of someone else's home... If the house is left in anything other than reasonable condition, the ENTIRE deposit will be forfeited. We don't expect you to scour the house or do the linens and towels, but we do expect to return to a home left in the general condition in which you received it.

- Greenwich is one of the Royal Boroughs of London. We are on the doorstep of Kent with great transport into London and into the country. Eltham Palace sits at the end our road (where Henry VIII grew up and later frequently jousted) Greenwich with it's royal park, naval museum, queens house, and the Cutty Sark is 10 minutes away. Central London is 20 minutes away. The English countryside is on our doorstep with attractions such as Hever and Leeds Castle less than an hour away. We have a local stable and miles of Green Chain walk for seeing London and its outskirts on foot. Grocery store and neighborhood shopping area within walking distance but not in sight of the house. ...moreless

A very English feeling holiday
A very English feeling holiday
We were a party of 10 (4 adults and 6 kids) who were taking our families to London for the first time. We wanted a big house where all of us could stay together. This house was perfect! It had plenty of room to spread out, so everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. The back yard was absolutely wonderful! The kids spent many hours playing outside, and since the weather was nice, the dads grilled out several times during the week. We found the owner, Lori, to be very helpful. When we had questions, she would quickly respond with an email or phone call. For us, the house had a very homey, lived in feel that the kids loved. The walk back and forth to the train station was very pleasant and we always felt safe. There were grocery stores within walking distance as well. All in all we enjoyed our stay at this house. No complaints.

DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY
These are the facts relating to our stay at this property (23-30 June 2013) after a full days travel from the USA. • Owner laundry was left in the washing machine. • Owner laundry was left in the drying machine including underwear. • We had to transfer owner laundry from both machines and put owner laundry on drying cycle. • Owner clothes were hanging on drying rack in top floor room. • Disgusting top floor shower room -half squeezed out shampoo bottles, rust & dirty shower tray. • Curtains were hanging off the rails in top floor room. • Bedrooms were untidy with owner belongings covering all surfaces inc. ½ full soda bottles and sweets. • No hanging or storage space for 10 guests. • The bunk beds and the boys beds were not made up upon arrival. • We had to search throughout the house to find bedding upon arrival. • The kitchen waste and recycling bins smelled of rotting waste - v. disgusting. • A counter top food recycle bin was full of rotting, smelling food including an ½ eaten rotten sandwich. • The dish washer machine was filthy inside with clumps of decaying food stuck in the seams and corners. • On our first night (Sun June 23 , 2013) the front door jammed stuck and could not be opened. 2 of the guests had to repair this since our phone messages were not returned that evening. This was a major concern had their been an incident/fire. • The owner did turn up to the house unannounced but was unavailable when we telephoned. • We therefore felt unsafe in the house especially with young children. • We received several unpleasant phone calls regarding the owner’s unpaid household telephone bill. Again the owner took several days to get back on this issue. • The household telephone service was cut off leaving us without internet access or telephone (this was primarily a business trip with phone service and internet access being of the utmost importance). • We had to spend £80.00 on sim cards for mobile phones and for data charges. With 4 young children living in a house for 1 week, it is reasonable that toys would be left around and that cupboards would have been opened looking for items that were supposed to be available (bedding, linen). Additionally, we had to leave early on our departure date and so there were the inevitable dishes in the sink etc. However, the rest of the house was left as we found it - if not better in many cases. It is odd that there are no other reviews for this property. We would NOT recommend this property. Avoid it.

Owner response: Sadly, the content of the negative review from the Ryonet Corporation is completely untrue. Whilst in the house for a week, despite having contact details for the owners, the owner's nanny, and the housekeeper - who was present in the home every three days and reported to us that the house was filthy; these renters never pointed out any of their complaints during their stay. That's because all of their complaints are untrue. In short order, there will also be (or already are) reviews on VRBO from the renters who left the house THE SAME MORNING THAT RYONET arrived; and from the renters who took the house three days after RYONET left. Those renters had completely different experiences. It's just not possible that the house changed so much in the 5 hours between one family leaving and RYONET arriving. And it makes no sense that a party would have so many complaints and make NONE of them during their stay. The reality is that the RYONET party left our family home in a horrible state. The degree of filth and utter lack of respect for someone else's property was apalling. It took three adults over 7 hours to return our home to simply a livable state. The repairs and replacement of broken items took significantly more time and considerable cost. We have photos to document all of these claims. The sad fact is that, through their own lack of respect the RYONET party forfeited their deposit and now they've thrown an fit about it. It's been our priviledge to rent our home for the last 3 years to lovely families who have treated it like their own. In this instance, we rented it to a party who had a complete lack of respect for our home, their own living environment, and quite frankly, their employer, who likely paid the bill, lost the deposit, and doesn't even know about their employees' horrific behavior and representation of their company. We hope that you'll give our home the consideration it deserves. And we are happy to put you in touch with many previous renters who will tell you first hand about their positive experiences.

About the owner: We are an American family and have lived in London for 12 years. This is our family home and we know you will love spending your vacation here. The home is very liveable. Everything has been updated within the last three years and your kids will have a teriffic time here. If you travel with your dog, the garden is securely fenced and gated and there is no access to the front street from the back yard.
Why the Owner Chose Greenwich:
Large comfortable homes are hard to find in London and even harder to rent. Costs for traveling in the UK are high. This home will allow you excellent levels of comfort, fun, and the ability to house all of your party under one roof and to do some of your own meals and entertainment at home in a relaxed, family environment.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Access to Royal Blackheath Golf Course (the oldest Golf Club in the world - St. Andrews is the oldest course) with it's Charles I clubhouse and ancient grounds. Walk to Eltham Palace. Walk to two local train stations, then 20 minutes into London. Or use excellent tube and bus links nearby.
