This cottage offers a well-equipped kitchenette with a 4 burner gas stove, small refrigerator/freezer, microwave and a large kitchen sink also shared as the bathroom sink. For the stall shower we offer fresh clean towels for your use. This room also features AC, satellite TV a DVD player plus wireless internet.
The 'Gingerbread House' is a one-of-a-kind storybook A-Frame chalet with a loft. Absolutely adorable, loaded with charm and character however this may not be suitable for some guests. Set up in the trees offering lovely views and the feeling of being in a tree house, a fantastic spot to relax, perhaps read a book, take nap on the queen size bed (clean linens provided) or even just meditate.
The main level offers a small well equipped kitchen with a 4 burner gas stove, small refrigerator, microwave, a large kitchen sink and a farm house table with seating for 3. The living/sitting area has a futon couch which makes a full size bed perfect for those who would rather not sleep in the loft or perhaps a 3rd person. There is a small TV (no outside service) with a DVD player, a small wood burning stove for a cozy warm house during the cold days and for the warmer days there is a swamp cooler. This cottage also offers wireless internet.
Adjacent to the kitchen is a full bathroom with the “charm of yesterday” including a claw foot tub with the shower overhead and separate sink. Fresh clean towels are provided for your use.
The stepping stone walkway outside leads to a covered patio area perfect for barbeques and relaxing after a day of adventure. Currently booked for March and April 2013. Please call or email for more information, availability and rates.

We had a great time staying at the suite retreat! It was exactly as advertised and had everything we needed right at our fingertips. Although the studio is right around the corner from 41 and all the shops you would need, it still feels like you are far away from it all. It is also very close to the park's Southern entrance, Bass Lake, and some amazing hikes outside of Yosemite. Thanks for a great place to call home for our vacation.Recommended for: People with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Hello Prescilla, Bryan and of course Shug. Thank you so much for leaving a review and for leaving the cottage so nice. We really appreciate it! We are glad that you enjoyed your quick visit to our area. We hope that you will consider coming again. We would love to see Shug grown up. She is gorgeous! Best wishes to you all. Thank you, Sharon and Mike Brantley

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Little Bear Cottage. We found the cottage to be well stocked with kitchen essentials, immaculately clean, and quite cozy once you got the pellet stove cranked up. It's really cold there in the winter and the cottage gets cold without the stove running, but as long as it was running we were warm. Sharon and Mike are great hosts and made us feel very welcome. One thing I'd recommend is to make sure you have enough pellets for the duration of your stay (if visiting in the winter). If you run out, you'll get cold, as we did about 10:30PM on our last night. The cottage is only a few minutes from grocery stores in Oakhurst which makes it convenient, yet it is far enough away on a back road that you feel like you're are in the country. We found the drive into Yosemite Valley to be quite wearisome on the snowy icy roads (about an hour and 15 minutes to Yosemite Valley), and that's with an AWD vehicle. Yosemite is really magical in the winter and you'll have the trails to yourself (which is amazing if you've ever been there in the summer). If you are thinking about making the trek to Yosemite during the winter season, prepare yourself to spend quite a bit of time in the car making the round trip in and out of the valley, but it was still worth it in my opinion as lodging prices in the valley are preposterous. Overall we had a wonderful trip - and the cottage was a nice place to spend our time after our daytime adventures in the snow.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Frank and Cassandra, We are glad that chose to stay with us. I believe that the weekend you were here we had record cold temps. I think one of the mornings it was 14 degrees! I'm sorry you ran out of pellets. We had plenty. Oh my word! I can't imagine. Summer time is also a wonderful time for a visit. Perhaps you will condsider coming in a different season. You folks are welcome here anytime. Best wishes to you both in 2013! Thank you, Sharon and Mike Brantley

Excellent hospitality! This property was perfect for our visit tonYosemite and Kings Canyon National Park. The cottage is tucked into a quite neighborhood with very large lots. We were within minutes to Oakhurst for resturants and other shopping. A bonus was the wild life in the neighborhood.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We enjoyed the very quiet, peaceful cottage with lots of surrounding trees. It was very clean and Mike helped us with the somewhat tricky "backing out" of our car and door lock. We also discovered a very cool easy hike (1 mile loop) in the giant Sequoias of Nelder Grove which was a short drive away and with no one there. The bed was very comfortable and we would definitely recommend this cottage.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Carol and Larry, We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit to our area. That walk that you discovered was used alot by our previous tenant. She loved it also. You folks arrived during a heat wave. So different from San Diego! Thank you for leaving the cottage beautiful. We hope that you will consider coming back some day. Best wishes to you both. Thank you, Sharon and Mike

Clean cottage in a quiet location. Property was a little hard to find at first. Deer and small critters came right into the yard. Nice to have a kitchen after a week of hotels and restaurants.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

We enjoyed our trip and stay at Sharon's and Mikes place. I was exactly as shown in the photos. Except there were many more little additions that they have added to make the stay more comfortable. They went the extra mile in helping us when it was needed. My husband is 86 and I am 83 so there were several times. We really appreciated all that they did to help us. Owner response: Dear Joan and Don, Thank you! We loved having you folks stay with us and we were more than happy to help you folks out. We were surprised to see how active you folks were for the week that you stayed with us and how modern and technology savvy you were! Thanks again. Please keep us in mind if you come to visit Yosemite again. Sharon and Mike Brantley

Marjorie and I enjoyed our three nights in Oakhurst very much. The cottage is very well equipped, clean, comfortable and surrounded by lovely trees and other vegetation that lends itself to a peaceful getaway.. The cottage is small, but very well depicted in photos on the VRBO site - We found it very adequate for our stay, a great value and can recommend it highly.Recommended for: Sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you, folks! We sure are glad that you had a nice visit to our area and we loved having you as our guests. Quite, clean and thoughtful! Thank you! We hope that you will come visit again sometime. Best wishes to you both!

Studio unit in Oakhurst was conveniently located to supermarkets and restaurants. About an hour drive up to Yosemite. Unit was as described and very well maintained. Sharon was there to welcome us to the cottage upon our arrival and she even turn on the pellet stove in advance to warm up the place for us. It was a good stay for the 2 of us and our dog. Sharon and Mike were very helpful and responsive to anything we needed. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you! We enjoyed having you stay with us and Sachi is fabulous! Thank you for leaving the cottage so nice. The 3 of you are welcome here anytime. Best wishes in 2012!

Although a bit of a commute for visiting Yosemite (although we made the drive each day we stayed here), this is a fantastic value, especially compared to the ridiculous rates now charged at the DNC managed properties within the park and at Fish Camp. This cottage is very quiet and far enough from the highway to feel like it is miles away (it's not, but just up a short part asphalt/part gravel drive). Owners are terrific and all communication pursuant to reserving was promptly replied to and thorough. The rental contract is clear and no tricks (renting through private sites sometimes can be a hassle). The rental is exemplary as to what a VRBO should be - honest, unit is as presented in the images, owners are a pleasure to work with. A great place for a couple to spend a few to several days. Highly recommended!Owner response: Hello James, Boy your visit went by so quickly! We didn't hardly know that you folks were here. We are glad that you decided to come and stay with us. You are welcome here anytime. Best wishes on the adventure that you will be enduring. Thank you again for choosing Yosemite's Suite Retreat! Sharon and Mike Brantley

The cottage was clean and very welcoming, we had a wonderful 2 day stay and would definitely return. Sharon & Mike were friendly without overstepping their bounds. We appreciate the fact that they allowed us to bring our 2 dogs Kobe & Mia and it was nice to know that they were the first dogs to ever stay at the cottage. Hopefully they won't be the last LOL. Another plus if you are going to Yosemite this cottage is one of the closest to the south entrance that you will find. Thank for your hospitality, hope to be back soonRecommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: I've been a Realtor with Intero Real Estate for 15 years and love real estate! My partner Mike calls himself the 'technician' and is a master at all trades. He is my manages all the handyman and property maintenance required on this property.
Why the Owner Chose Oakhurst:
This was a property my partner Mike and myself purchased for retirement however, we found ourselves here sooner than we expected. We had the cottages rented for years to full time tenants. After the tenants moved away we were using the cottages for ourselves, friends and family when my good friend Kirsty Lebovitz from SierraScape Vacation Rentals suggested that we turn the cottages into a vacation rentals for two and possibly three. So I decided to do it. I started with the Little Bear Cottage now I'm working on the Gingerbread House. Thank you, Kirsty!
This is a fantastic location and convenient to 3 major attractions, lots of resturants, less than 2 minutes from Oakhurst's town amenities yet we are nestled on 3 beautiful acres.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We are an alternative to a hotel/motel, renting a full size home and of course camping! We are not a remote mountain property. On our shared 3 acres we have 4 separate living quarters all unique and loaded with character. They are all separate from each other and each have their own yards and driveways. We also have a Morgan horse on the property who loves to have our guests come say hello and give her a carrot or two.
