Before booking I have read the previous comments and now I can say: I fully agree. Living in Europe , we have visited Venice quite a number of times and the Waterfront appt from Giorgio is very high on my wish list.We have stayed there for 6 weeks. Giorgio is a gentleman ,very well connected in the Venetian scene,as we have experienced. The appt is very well equipped and as we love cooking it was also easy to have a supermarket in the near vicinity. The South facing appt is very sunny. Yes, we hope to return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The owner was a gentleman in every way, including helping me find allergy medicine on a Saturday night. He greeted us off the "floating subway" in pouring rain with a giant umbrella, recognized my face from the passport, and greeted me by name. He helped us with easy transportation and delicious restaurants. The Terraces Apartment was just right for our family of 2 parents and 5 teenagers. The kitchen was big enough that we could cook, eat and play cards. The old home feels very Venetian with an old way elegance. The place was nice and clean, beds crisp and comfortable, bathrooms roomy with big white fluffy towels. My only negative was that I thought, based on the photo, that our terraces faced the canal, but they are actually along the side of the building. One can still view the ships passing from the side. All told, it was a cozy home away from home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

The apartment was certainly as advertised with enough room for our family of six for the time we were to be in Venice. It is in a nice location even though it is off the Grand Canal but has fairly easy access to major points of interest, specifically walks along the Grand Canal, St Mark's Square, museums and more shopping than anyone could imagine. We found wonderful restaurants every few blocks though finding them a second time proved to be a challenge as the narrow lanes tend to wind about quite a bit and sometimes not even a good map can get one back to where they thought they were. But this isn't about the apartment, it is about the owner, Giorgio. We have traveled to Europe quite a bit over the past decade and always try to find an apartment instead of hotel rooms as there is more chance to see and spend time with one another. Having rented all these apartments over the years I have never encountered anyone as helpful as Giorgio, never! From advising us about the trains from Florence to venice, accommodating our early arrival, guidance in locating food markets and restaurants, getting me comfortable with that early morning airline connection, and even securing a water taxi for us for a 4:30AM departure to the airport, he did it all. He even recommended a tour guide, Antonella, for our first views of his city. She did a marvelous job of introducing us to Venice. It was a wonderful stay made better than it might have been with Giorgio's help.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

The location is within 5 minutes walk of 3 different vaporetto stops with a Billa grocery just a few stops away. The property is well maintained with everything you will ever need, and then some, in the kitchen. The bedrooms are very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The bathrooms are very large and very clean. I wouldn't hesitate renting this apartment in the future. Giorgio was extremely hospitable and helpful with the neighborhood. I cant wait to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful stay at the Terraces Apartments. The owner, George C., was extremely helpful and accomodating both before and during our 4 night stay and we could not have been happier with the accomodations, location and apartment amenities. We liked that it was right on a vaporetto stop, yet not in the middle of the tourist areas. We made several meals for our party and once for a group of 9 and the kitchen facilities were more than adequate. We would definitely recommend the Terraces to other travelers.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

This is a lovely, elegant apartment with everything you'll need to be comfortable. It was just as pictured, very clean, Giorgio couldn't have been more helpful and attentive and I would definitely recommend it to others and stay there again. We liked the location a lot-being right on the water with views was lovely and it was away from the intense busyness of Piazza San Marco, while still being easy to get there.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We stayed here in July with my 82 year old aunt, two cousins and my teenage sons. I can't say enough about Giorgio - he helped up arrange a fantastic private boat tour through Venice and was so accommodating to our every question. The apartment living room is small but one should be out exploring so it is not a problem. The only other item I would add is the bathrooms are extremely warm on hot days on the upper floors but the remainder of the home is fully air conditioned. This is a wonderful gem and you'll be glad you found Giorgio!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Never had I visited Venice before, nor had I experienced VRBO. The Gods smiled on me the day I found this apartment, so full of the spirit and the soul of Venetian life. Giorgio is a beautiful, gracious and charming host--creating an experience through his place, his eyes, so that as visitors, we may share in the magic of imaging ourselves living here, albeit fleetingly so. I cannot recommend this particular place emphatically enough. The location is near everything one would hope to see in Venice, but also has an feeling of refuge in a sestiere with a sense of calm about it- an architecturally significant gem of a building with a stunning, unobstructed 180 degree vista, completely yours to "own" during your stay. The balcony hovers over the Canal, -- it feels as if you are on the prow of a boat-I was dumbstruck by the ever changing waterscape view from both the living room and the bedroom. And yes, the last, but maybe the most underrated aspect of this lovely place was its owner, the charming Giorgio. He was the soul of the experience for us. He left us wanting for nothing, Hospitable service in his own truly Italian style. No question left unanswered , his patience, humor and wit made the experience truly so much richer than a faceless hotel might have been. He spent time helping us navigate around, even when I know he was pressed for time. It was like having a trusted , dear friend in this beautiful city. I would go back a thousand times, if I could.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

There were six of us in the Terrace's apartment. The living area is a little small, but we weren't in it much anyway we were out enjoying the sites. Everything was close by. Giorgio met us at the Vaparetto stop and walked us to the apartment and showed us around. He was very helpful explaining all about the apartment and recommend a couple of wonderful restaurants. We had fun traveling to grocery store on the Vaparetto, "2 stops down the canal. We had a wonderful time. It was very peaceful to be out of the crowds and to come back at night to the quite. We enjoyed the mornings with all the work boats going up and down the canal delivering things. We even saw a big cruise ship our last morning. Giorgio recommended we get the vaparetto pass so we got a 72 hour one and it paid for itself. We had a great time and will be back.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Two bedrooms, three bathrooms, three balconies.....what's not to like! Giorgio is a wonderful host, the apartment is PERFECTLY located, steps from a vaperato stop, mere minutes walk to Academia bridge and then anywhere in Venice. It's true the living room is small....actually it is part of the brand new modern eat in kitchen. But if you think you need a big living room in Venice, you are in the wrong town cause you should be out exploring.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank You Doug for your great review. Just to avoid any possible misunderstanding, I wish to specify that the terraces in the apartment are 4. One of these is right beside the living room and it is perfect for breakfasts, aperitifs and dinners, up to six people. The bedrooms can be 2 or 3, depending on the needs of the guests. I hope to see You again as a guest in one or both the apartments, of course with an extra 10 % discount provided to the previous renters who return. Ciao. Giorgio

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1958
About the owner: I was born in Venice about 50 years ago. I have traveled in many countries but I'm always happy to return back to Venice, in particular to the Zattere area, because I love to live in this marvellous town, surrounded from the water. I really miss it when I stay away for long periods. I'm not a professional photographer but I have always loved to take pictures since I was a kid. You can have a look to my photo web site (check the URL link to Giorgio Cichellero address). I have partecipated in various workshops with leading Italian photographers as Gianni Berengo Gardin, Lucie Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2008, Franco Fontana and others. Courses and workshops in Milan and Siena held by Canon. I can organize photographic workshops for the apartment guests.
Why the Owner Chose Venice:
Definitely an excellent solution for a memorable stay in Venice.
This is the part of Venice that I love even more because although this area is only 10 minutes from Piazza San Marco, which is always full of tourists, Zattere are more calm and always giving different emotions, depending on the day time. This part is always full of light, sun, water, colors .. and joggers. You can see the sun rise early in the morning and the evening sunset. Often, in front of the apartment, behind the Church of the Redeemer, you can observe, and be fascinated, from the rising moon. You can have the best time in Venice on every season of the year. Have a coffe, a delicious ice cream, an aperitive, an apetizer (cicchetto) or a full meal (from pizza to the top quality fish restaurants in town). Just relax walking alongside the Giudecca Canal. You'll never forget these emotions. You'll never forget Zattere.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
The apartment can be rented as an entire unique apartment with the Water front area listed at VRBO # 305549.
I prepared with great care and love this apartment because one of the next year I will return to live there. Benefit as long as it will still be rented.
If you stay in our apartment you can have the best time in Venice on every season of the year. Just walk out on Zattere, have a coffee, a glass of wine or a dinner (from pizza to the top quality fish restaurants in town). Do relax walking alongside the Giudecca Canal. 'Sitting in the morning sun. You'll be sitting when the evening comes. Watching the ships roll in And I watch 'em roll away again.' You'll never forget these emotions. You'll never forget Zattere. High level restaurant overlooking the Giudecca canal, among the most beautiful in Venice. Nearby: Guggenheim Museum, Museum Pinault Punta della Dogana, Accademia Galleries. Well-equipped gym - Technogym - 100 meters from the apartment. We can organize - with at least 15 days notice - for the apartment guests (we speak Italian, English and French): boat trips to Venice and the Lagoon, private cooking lessons, short courses and wine tastings. For the tenants of the apartment discounts on well-known restaurants in town and out of Venice. For the evening of the Redentore (Redeemer, July 16, 2011) it's possible - and suggested - to arrange - in advance - dinner of typical Venetian dishes for the evening For the apartments guests, at discounted prices, are available some seats at La Fenice Theater in Venice for all the operas and concerts in the program. Opportunity to purchase tickets for performances at discounted prices. Please email the owner in advance for information.
For those who rent the flat for at least 4 days, we offer, as a wellcome gift, the Lonely Planet guide - Edition 2010 - 'Venice & the Veneto', city map included.
10% extra discount on renting rates for all previous guests.
Spend some nights in a place You will never forget.
