We have been coming down as a group for 25 years. This is the second year in a row that we have stayed here. The chalet was in great shape and for anyone looking for the whole package this is the one.The location is perfect. It is just far enough away from everything but close to anything you want to do,shop, hike, golf or just enjoy the view. The staff that take care of it did a great job. They called me when I showed up and also the day we left.Barbra was very helpful. The owner kept in touch with me and made sure everything was ok.We are looking into renting it next year again. We all feel like this is one we can keep coming back to.

Girls Family Reunion
Girls Family Reunion
Our aunts, cousins, sisters and sisters-in-law had a wonderful girls get-away-family-reunion at this amazing cabin. I can not tell you how perfect this place is for a vacation. I just wish our's had been longer...it went too fast. Our only regret was traveling down the mountain each night for dinner INSTEAD of purchasing food and cooking meals in the 5-star amazing kitchen....We will definately do that next time. Two thumbs up to the owners....you decorated perfect and our whole experience was 100% perfect. Our girls traveled from 3 different states and we will do it again hopefully soon.

Most Amazing Cabin that We've Ever Stayed!!
Most Amazing Cabin that We've Ever Stayed!!
My wife and I are frequent travelers to Gatlinburg. It's within six hours from home and is an easy trip for our little kids (4 & 2). We've worked with multiple cabin rental companies and a few owners. So far, Wilderness Lodge has been our favorite and the owners and managers of this cabin were phenomenal! To begin, the owner was very quick to respond on VRBO and communication was great. We've stayed just down the hill from Wilderness Lodge before so we knew exactly where it was located. The location, to us, is one of the best features to this home. But, to anyone unfamiliar to the location should know that it is about an 8-10 minute drive uphill. Because of this, the cabin is very secluded, quiet, and gives breathtaking views - exactly what we look for. Upon arrival (about 30 minutes before check-in) they were still cleaning, but they didn't mind us looking around outside and told us some bear stories, which we all really enjoyed! Upon entering, we were just overwhelmed by the home! It was incredibly clean (not sure what happened during the previous reviewer's stay) and the layout was perfect. Our 84-year-old grandmother was with us so the elevator was a huge bonus (even though she usually insisted on taking the stairs for her exercise.) The kitchen and eating areas were awesome, sporting a high end dual-fuel double-oven range and oversized refrigerator with beautiful cabinetry and countertops. The master bedroom and bath was amazing with the multiple shower heads and natural stone work. The "regular" bedrooms were as nice or nicer than most master beds/baths of other cabins that I've stayed. At least one of the upstairs baths had a jetted tub and all were furnished and outfitted luxuriously. The theater, steam room, hot tub, enormous wrap-around deck with outdoor gas fire places, and fire pit were just added bonuses that I needed about another week to really be able to enjoy! There was just too much to appreciate in this cabin to be able to list! This cabin would easily support the number of people that that it advertises (18-34). We hated to leave this place and the hospitality of the owner and managers. We absolutely plan on returning to Wilderness Lodge and I would highly recommend it and its owner and managers to anyone going to Gatlinburg. Definite 5+ Stars!

Beautiful Cabin but unacceptable on the cleanness
Beautiful Cabin but unacceptable on the cleanness
The ceiling fans was full of dust. The one in the loft was the worse. The kitchen was had grease all over the stove and hood range. Countertops was filthy . Cobwebs was hanging on the light fixture where you serve the food on the kitchen island. The sleeper coaches was full of crumbs and dirt had to shake mattresses off. The bathrooms mirrors was smoggy along with the shower glass doors .I requested to shut elevator off but had elderly people having trouble climbing a lot of steps. So called housekeeper a lady she said she would be there the next day to turn on elevator she never showed up, never called nothing she had a excuse for why everything looked they way it did. She also told me that they do a one time deep clean once a year. I washed tubs out and washed all the bed sheets yes doing laundry on my vacation. Patio outside was full of dirty and leaves I swept that off bottom floor .Other then that beautiful quiet loved it.

Owner response: Thank you for finding Wilderness Lodge to be a beautiful cabin in a quiet location. We are long distance owners and rely on our property management team to take care of our cabin and our guests during their stay. We always want everything to be pristine and clean for all of our guests. There is not one, but at least four deep cleans we have done per year. One before the summer season, one before the fall season, and at least two other times as well. A deep clean includes cleaning windows, cleaning walls, and other big cleanings such as that. Not only does the cleaning after each guest leave include things like washing linens, cleaning dishes, dusting, cleaning the bathrooms and the kitchen, cleaning the floors and sweeping off the deck, it includes other things as well. The other items the property management team does is: sanitize counters, sanitize the refrigerator, clean the stove/oven inside and out ,check ALL sleeper sofas/couches for personal items left behind as well as clean the sofas, sanitize the bathrooms, drain and sanitize the hot tub, and dust ceiling fans, just to name a few of what they do. They also are to look over the cabin for any repairs that need to be taken care of as well as check drawers, cabinets, and closets for anything left behind. They sweep the deck after each stay, but during certain times of year, and where the cabin is in the woods, pollen and leaves are right back on the deck almost as soon as it is swept clean. We apologize about the miscommunication about the elevator. The elevator was turned off like you mentioned, due to your pre-arrival request. Our property manager was under the impression that you were going to call her to schedule the time for her to turn the elevator on, and did not want to call you and take a chance on waking your family up or bothering you. We appreciate your input, and will be making more frequent visits to the cabin to insure everything is like it should be for our guests.

The cabin was perfect for my husbands 40th bday party We had family and friends come and stay and there was plenty of room to spread out and get lost. The views were great..the home is kept up very well, and stocked as well too! Barbara who helps manage the property was so sweet and accommodating! She helped us get in and get ready for the BBQ party we were having and made many great suggestions. If we did need her for anything (like empty bear resistant trash) she was quick and helpful! Will be back for sure!

Perfect Family Getaway!!!
Perfect Family Getaway!!!
We really enjoyed our birthday/anniversary celebration at your lovely cabin. It was a lovely drive up to the cabin, and we could not believe it when we drove up the road and Wilderness Lodge came into view. We could not wait to get inside, and were not disappointed!! I love to cook and the kitchen was spectacular. The office staff was great in answering all of my pre-arrival questions about the amenities that the kitchen had. I had asked about a slow cooker, and they mentioned since another guest had also inquired about a slow cooker that they were purchasing one to put in the cabin. I found it when we arrived and put it to great use in keeping our hot dog chili warm! They take care of everything! My husband loved the rain shower in the master bath. We were surprised and pleased with the extras, such as the wine refrigerator that the adults enjoyed. The separate built in ice maker was used frequently. The kids loved the extra refrigerator downstairs to use for their drinks and ice cream. The kids had the downstairs as their hangout and spent the nights in the theatre room, playing pool, and playing games on the game system and arcade game. The adults spent the evenings on the deck in rocking chairs taking in the breathtaking views and enjoying the sounds of nature. On our last night we all sat around the fire pit and roasted marshmallows, and then the kids went to their hangout and the adults soaked their cares away in the hot tub, and we were even visited by a family of wild turkeys as they walked by in the woods. Our extended family reconnected and enjoyed the time together. The staff is wonderful and was so helpful in suggesting a place for us to get a cake. I only wished we could have stayed longer, but we are planning a longer stay for 2014 and cannot wait!!

Owner response: We are so pleased that your birthday/anniversary trip was so memorable and cannot wait to see you again in 2014!! We love our home and are so glad that you did as well. It is wonderful that your family got to reconnect at Wilderness Lodge. Everyone under the same roof, but with enough room to spread out as the kids did when they spent time in their “hangout” and the adults soaked in the hot tub. We are happy that you enjoyed the extras that Wilderness Lodge has to offer.
Property was great on the outside. However, two of the bedrooms in the lower level lacked closets. There was no knobs on the kitchen cabinets. There were so many of them! We didn't even notice there were drawers on the end of the island until the last day. The cabinets were very difficult with my arthritis to open. Kitchen was adequately equiped and there was plenty of seating. No end tables in living area. Furniture was quite soft. Washer was raised up and difficult to get clothes out as it was a top loader. Could have used a step stool, there wasnt one. This house is at the end of a 2 mi drive up the mountain and not to close to anything. Although the view was nice, I wish we had stayed in Gaitlinburg. There were no tissues, no full length mirror, no laundry basket, no curtains on the upstairs bedrooms, sun is up it was very bright, no clocks in any of the bedrooms, only one night stand so we had to pull a chair over. I realize these are mostly negative comments, however, if these things dont bother you, go for it. I would describe the furnishings as upscale monestary. One good thing it did have an elevator.

Owner response: We are happy that you liked the appearance of the cabin and the views, as well as enjoyed the use of the elevator. We are sorry you found issues with the cabin. We sincerely thought that you had enjoyed your stay and found everything to be satisfactory because we contact our property manager after every guests stay and she mentioned she spoke with you on the morning you checked out and you said everything was great. We strive to offer all of our guests a wonderful experience and our property management team would have been more than happy to have immediately addressed any issues you had if you had contacted them during your stay. All of the bedrooms, except two, have built in closets for use by our guests. We made sure that the two without built in closets have free standing units to hang clothes for the convenience of our guests. Also, all of the bedrooms do have nightstands. The kitchen is fully equipped to handle large numbers of guests, and that is why there are so many drawers. We also have a total of 3 end tables and 2 coffee tables in the living room and sitting area for our guests to use. Thank you for the information about the clocks, our property management team is going to make sure clocks are in each room. The road that turns off of the main road is only 8 miles from light #3 in downtown Gatlinburg, and then it is a little less than 2 miles up the paved road to Wilderness Lodge. We are sorry that you did not enjoy the seclusion and privacy that Wilderness Lodge offers as it borders the National Forest.
The perfect wedding cabin!
The perfect wedding cabin!
This cabin is truly beautiful! The pictures do not even do it justice! We were fortunate enough to come across this luxury cabin on Homeaway.com and had our wedding there last year. It was so well decorated, very comfortable, spacious and has the most amazing views. Our families had a great time there and they raved about the views for months. Our wedding photos look amazing with the wonderful backgrounds of nature and this marvelous cabin. It was the perfect scene, ideal weather and delightful atmosphere for the perfect wedding. I highly recommend this cabin. The owners were so kind and accommodating and very professional and easy to work with. The rooms and common areas are all so luxurious and the whole cabin feels like your own mini custom resort at the top of a mountain. This cabin fits large groups very well with each bedroom having its own bathroom it is easy to spread out and feel like you have your own suite. It is beautiful, private and peaceful.

It makes us happy to know that you enjoyed the peacefulness and tranquility that Wilderness Lodge has to offer. We hope to see you soon for another luxurious private getaway to Wilderness Lodge!!
The Wilderness Lodge is a dream home! Traveling up the mountain to the entrance is even an adventure, then when you reach the top and the log home comes into view you know this is going to be a fantastic place. It is a totally private, gated property, and the only thing in view is the beautiful mountains and National forest. The large wrap around deck is filled with rockers/patio furniture that stayed occupied our entire trip taking in the beautiful view. The lodge is very well equipped, everything in good working order, bedrooms all equally nice, w/comfortably beds, and nice linen. Loved the face size peep doors on the exterior entry doors, a fun addition. Also plenty of exterior lighting for evenings on the deck. We supplied our Mom's birthday party with everything we needed from the Food City Grocery about 7 miles away (flowers, cake, food trays) all fresh and beautifully presented. Thanks Barbara, and staff for recommending them, and for your helpful and friendly southern charm. Thanks also to the owners for sharing it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
