The discription of the property was accurate. The carpet and furniture were a bit outdated but the peace and quiet more than made up for it. We only used one bed which was comfortable, the cabin is secluded pretty well from neighbors, its easy to find and it was just an awesome place to get away. The lake is on the small side but the water is clear, the wild-life was great, and the fishing for bass and crappie was really good. THe owners were prompt in responding to questions and very gracious in helping us work out the scheduling and making sure we had all the info we needed. There is also a great store just two miles away with everything from food items, hardware, to live bait. We spent some time on the Paul Bunyan Bike Trails which goes through Backus which is roughly 4 miles from the cabin. THe trails were awesome. We never went to a restaurant but their were several available with 8 miles. We did not spend time in the water. The area by the dock looked to be sandy but a lot of vegetation. The dock was good and the boat ramp was about a mile away. My wife and I would highly recommend it.

Owner response: Thank you for your review Pastor Norlyn! We are a bit "shabby chic," but there's nothing you can't put your feet on, which we consider a plus! I hope we'll see you again.

Staying in this clean, cozy cabin with a warm setting was a delight. I love the big trees and the privacy. The cabin is cozy with a spacious interior and beautiful natural cedar woodwork. The big deck right by the lake is great for relaxing, 'hanging out and catching some rays'. We had a blast fishing and swimming in Sanborn Lake - and then having an evening campfire in the fire pit. This is a great place for making memories of "the simple life."

This cabin offered a terrific place to relax and recharge with nature, loons, and gently lapping waves. We visited to celebrate an "away from it all" anniversary, and enjoyed the peace even on a rainy day. It genuinely felt like home.

We came and stayed to hunt the roughed grouse in September and found plenty of hunting spots with no other hunters in the state land just 15 minutes away. The first night we bought a dozen red tailed chubs and caught an 18 inch walleye right off the dock for diner. Great cabin and easy to deal with. Lots of grouse and saw turkeys and woodcock as well.
