Angel, just to the North of the City of London and near the trendy areas of Shoreditch and Hoxton, is a media hub, with many offices in this area. This neighbourhood offers some interesting and alternative homes, such as warehouse conversions and newly renovated period properties amid the more contemporary homes. There’s a thriving work scene during the week and plenty on offer for evenings and weekends too, with a good selection of restaurants – including Jamie’s Italian – and lots of bars and cafes.
The N1 Centre is a modern build with a collection of high street shops, a cinema and the O2 Academy for live music. Amongst the offices and boutique shops in the area, you’ll also find vintage shops and small gallery spaces, and many good venues for music. The Lexington is an elegant music venue with old-style charm and an extensive whiskey list, or another very popular drinking spot is The Albion – a stunning Georgian building with a wisteria covered exterior, a walled garden and veranda, and log fires inside to warm you of a winter’s evening.
There’s an urban feel to this well-located area with Old Street, known as ‘Silicon Roundabout’ and the digital hub of the Capital, close by too. For green spaces, Claremont Square and Myddelton Square are both nearby, and the fashionable area of Islington is just to the North as well.
