A better location doesn't exist
A better location doesn't exist
A better location may not exist! It is two little blocks to the Campo de Fiori, a square with a ton of shopping, restaurants, bars and just off a main street. There is a farmers market/shopping market in the square everyday until about 2pm, which was very convenient. We walked to the Piazza Navona and the Pantheon and the Piazza Venezia, all of which are great sights. You are close to everything. It can be a little noisy at night (Saturday nights), but not enough to keep you awake. The only bad thing, is it is a very small shower and the only bathroom is down a small, windy spiral staircase. So, if you need a bathroom in the middle of the night, it's best to hold it. The washing machine was broken when we were there. They supplied numerous bath towels, free coffee, free wine and Carmela & Franco (the owners whom live downstairs) are the nicest people ever! We were very happy here.

Great location, quiet street.
Great location, quiet street.
I gave this place 5 stars because of all the things that added up, making it a great experience. First, the location. It is on a very quiet, narrow little street lined with small shops, with almost no car traffic. Within 200 yards is a plaza that has fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, spices, meat, pasta, tourist items, etc. Several restaurants and a wine shop stocked with local cheeses is in the plaza. This area is away from the busy streets and bustle in the downtown, but is within easy walking distance of all the major sites. South on the street takes you right to the ruins in 20 min., Vatican city is 20 min. to the north. Trevi fountain is 20-30 min to the east. All easy walks through safe and clean areas. By the way, if this is your first time in Rome, a map is essential. The apt. is definitely roman style and decorated nicely with cabinets with nic-nacs in them and other homey decor and family pictures sitting around. Large windows light it up nicely. I felt comfortable and secure. Not only that, its like you have your own personal doorman. The retired owners live below and Mario spent most of the day out front chatting with passerby and minding the very small used furniture shop there. He opened the door for us whenever we arrived during the day, and took me to a coffee shop that few tourists see and bought me a shot of espresso that was so strong my eyeballs popped out. Around noon the buzz wore off. Good stuff. He'll take you there if you ask. Even though we had a language barrier, Mario and Camillia are very gracious hosts and would happily resolve any problems. We found ourselves wishing we could chat with them in the same language. The lady that manages the apt. for them was there a few minutes after we arrived, speaks english and is available by phone and e-mail if you have any questions. The apt is well cleaned and there is no mold in the bathroom. There is a few things of small consequence that this place is lacking, A good size shower is one, and maybe some utensils that we are used to are missing, but we saw it as living "Roman style". :-) I would highly recommend this apt to my friends.

The service you provided in Rome was absolutely fantastic ... not only did everything run incredibly smoothly but your additional thoughtfulness for the gift on our anniversary really went above and beyond! Please let me know if you would ever like a reference for your business: I would give the highest possible recommendation for anyone to use you!
