Our stay at the Timber Ridge Cabin was fabulous!! The cabin was private with outstanding views, everything that we were looking for in a place to stay on vacation. It was very clean and well maintained, stocked with everything that you could possibly need and close enough to town to shop for what ever you may have forgotten. We enjoyed all the attractions of the Black Hills, Spearfish, Deadwood and the nature and wildlife in our own back yard. We would like to thank the owners again for sharing this little piece of heaven.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My husband and I just returned home (Texas) after a wonderful week stay at Jody and Charles' cabin. If you're looking for tranquility, a place to call home-away-from-home, then this is a place you don't want to deprive yourself from enjoying. The views were absolutely breath taken and watching the wild life was equally as rewarding. Jody and Charles were gracious hosts who thought everything from stacked wood, clothes basket, extra towels, spices, an information binder to tell you about the area, food places, etc...to home made pickles which were yummy. Even though they live up from this beautiful cabin, they only came down once to check the hot tub and to make sure we didn't need anything else. Speaking of the hot tub, we loved using it while watching the stars. They allowed us to bring our three Labradors because they believe you shouldn't leave part of your family home or be penalized because you have pets. Our "boys" were allowed to roam free and had a blast exploring all the new smells. If you have any concerns about cleanliness - DON'T. I'm very picky and can tell you this cabin is absolutely immaculate. You can tell Jody and Charles take great pride in ensuring they preserve this piece of paradise for all to enjoy. As you can tell, we loved it here and plan on returning as as soon possible. On a final note - we'd like to thank Jody and Charles for making us feel special and for allowing us the opportunity to stay in their lovely haven.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My husband, daughter (9) and I stayed 3 nights at this home and would go back again! The views and accommodations for the price were amazing and exceeded our expectations hands-down. Jody and Charlie, the owners, are close by and very friendly. They stopped by to greet us and were helpful in providing recommendations of restaurants and things to do locally. They even left us a present of fresh picked veggies and homemade pickles from their garden! The hot tub and porch were our favorite places to hang out and we felt very 'at home' there. We also loved the ability to do a load of laundry or two- after being on the road 5 days, it was nice to be able to do wash. Our only constructive criticism would be that the master bedroom has no curtains, so you wake up early to an amazing view. If you're not an early bird, wear a sleeping eye mask. Also- you are 10 minutes from the closest store or restaurant, which was what we wanted, but might be hard if you're looking to go 'grab' something quickly. We would recommend this home to anyone- especially those who are looking for a good value with lots of amazing views and privacy.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Wow ! What else can we say ? The pictures truely do no justice to this wonderful place. And Jody and Charlie were amazing host . Everything is well taken care of , very clean and just a great place to reconnect with family and nature at it's best . We are dreaming of our next visit and it won't come soon enough. We had deer and turkey near the cabin everyday that we were there. Hiking was great and so many hidden treasures on the property and a lot of history . The Deadwood area offers so much to see and do it's a must on anyone's Bucket list ! Thank you Jody and Charlie so much for the oppertunity to share your piece of Heaven on Earth .Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We are a few months late with our review, but the home and the property was just wonderful! The owners accomodated us and we were never bothered until it was check out time! The weather that weekend was not the best as it rained and even snowed, but we didn't mind! We were there to get away from it all and do some 4 wheeling and we were allowed on all trails on the property. Our dogs truely enjoyed it as they got to explore right along with us. Even chased a deer or two! We would highly recommend this rental property to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation and maybe looking to burn a few calories with a hike!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We just got home yesterday and I wanted to make sure to leave this review before I forget. We loved, loved, loved this cabin! The description and pictures don’t do it justice at all. Nestled in the Black Hills, this location is absolutely perfect. You get the “out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere” feeling while still having deadwood 15 minutes in one direction and Spearfish 15 minutes in another. You also have Whitewood Creek running through the property and can hike down to pan for gold and right back up to your cabin. I am one of those people who enters a hotel room with Clorox spray in hand and won’t let my family touch anything until I have disinfected everything, but the cabin is clean and well kept. One might think, because pets are allowed, that it would not be as clean, but this is so not the case. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay; and in fact, after nine days we wished we had set more time aside. My 8 year old said on our last day “... but can’t you just ask Jody if we can stay a few more days?” Our hosts, Jody and Charlie are lovely people and it was such a joy to meet them (“thanks guys!”). If we ever get back to the Black Hills (and I sure hope we do) we will definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This was the best place we stayed on our trip across South Dakota! The cabin owners take pride in their property and it shows! Loved how clean everything was and how they made us and our dog feel welcome. The view from the cabin (out every window and deck) is amazing! We loved how it was far enough out of Spearfish to be secluded but close enough to get pizza and bring it back still warm. Those pickles they gave us were so addictive that they were gone a few hours into our drive back home.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This cabin is unbelievable. Shortly after we arrived, my husband and I were trying to figure out how we could move in. ;-) The views are stunning, we couldn't get enough of them. I bet I took 50+ pictures of the canyon view at various times of day, I can't say enough about the view. We spent a lot of time out on the deck just taking in the beauty and freshness. The hot tub was incredible. I was able to make an entire Thanksgiving meal with the well equipped kitchen. The master bedroom is gorgeous and the views are, again, stunning. We brought along our little dog and he felt right at home, too. Jody and Charles were amazing, always making sure we had what we needed and directions to different places. They have thought of everything, including baby gates to place on the HUGE deck so that our dog could be outside with us and we didn't have to worry about him running off. We also received a jar of homemade pickles, and they were awesome! Like a review below, I want to keep this place a secret so that we can return without it being booked, but good word gets around. My advice to you...just tack on another day if you are staying here. You won't want to leave. We are already planning our next trip up there and we will definitely stay at this cabin. Thank you so much, Jody and Charles, for making our Thanksgiving vacation one of the BEST we've had.....EVER. I cannot wait to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
