This place was an excellent value for our group. We had 7 adults, a teenager and 2 young kids. It worked out well with the bedrooms (the flannel sheets were a nice touch!) and had PLENTY of space to stretch out. Had a few issues with a bathroom plumbing and icy driveway but owner took care of both promptly. Liked very much that firewood, linens and toilet paper were included....However, we were not fond of the glass stove countertop as we felt we had to be extra careful (fortunately we did not mark it up) while cooking as well as the glass tables (always felt like we would scratch or break one). Did not get to use the deck as it was covered in snow and the grill was not available. Basement was a bit musty, even after we turned on dehumidifier. I would recommend this place to others interested in a house close to the mountain.Owner response: Thank you, Michelle, for taking the time to write a review. Glad you enjoyed yourself and found the house comfortable. Given the house is rented, buying a glasstop stove was not favorite thing to do; however, since the house is electric, there were not many attractive options in an electric stove, except the glass top. I also want to thank you for your diligence in letting me know of anything you had a problem with; this really helps a landlord to be able to make a tenant's rental comfortable. The musty smell was due to the leak you told me about in the game room. My caretaker took care of it immediately after you left; it was a heat radiator that was leaking. So, all is in good order now. Again I appreciate your review. Joyce

I can not imagine the experiences of folks who rated this house 5/5. I suppose if the goal is to pack as many people in a house and just have beds to flop down in at the end of a ski day, then maybe it is OK. But if you actually want to cook, entertain and be comfortable, then it was ridiculous. The list seems endless (and believe it or no, I am not hard to please): There were no pans to cook with (bacon was made in an OLD electric fry pan), and There were next to NO matching glasses, silverware, etc to be found. The decor was almost laughable with lots of animal prints and horrible colors. The bathrooms, fixtures, etc. are extremely outdated. There was one BR with the toilet seat unattached. When we arrived, after a day of hiking, my husband had to figure out how to even turn the hot water heater on! That said, the weekend was sunny and warm (Fall 2012) and the deck was nice- but the house was a wreck. Sorry-Recommended for: Families with young children.
Owner response: As an owner how upsetting to receive such a review. Especially since it is filled with so many inaccuracies and exaggerations. The reviewer said they stayed the weekend of October 26th. I am just wondering why they did not call either me nor my caretaker during their stay with their concerns or questions. A lengthy information sheet concerning the house had been made available to them with both telephone numbers. To infer that the house was nothing better than a flop house is indeed extremely insulting. The pictures speak for themselves. It is a wonderful house in one of the finest resorts in Stowe. Certainly not the type of area or clientele where a flophouse would be allowed or tolerated. There are three lovely upper level bedrooms, one lower level bedroom and a privately located day bed. All of which have attractive bedding. The animal prints referred to is just someone not liking the wallpaer in the bedroom, which is sand and sand colored. It does show in the pictures. Most people like it. The rest of the house is painted in an off white paint, and there are NO animal pictures. The kitchen is more than amply suplied with an oversized electric frying pan and many other pots and pans and kitchen ware in both the kitchen and dining room. There is even additional dishware in the cabinet in the living room. As for utensils, they are located in ample number in both the kitchen and dining room, with many glasses, including wine and cocktail glasses, and a wine frigidaire. Bathrooms are kohler fixtures. If the hot water switch was inadvertently turned off, all it would have taken was a simple phone call to either me or my caretaker and the question would have been answered immediately. It was merely a red switch at the bottom of the staircase that must have been accidentally switched off. The house is exactly as the pictures portray: nicely furnished, two roaring fireplaces, very welcoming atmosphere, and many amenities for comfort. My caretaker is constantly upgrading or improving the house. It is thoroughly cleaned after each rental. If issues arise during a rental, we try to address them immediately. Looking back at the October 26th rental weekend, I would say that for six people for two weekend nights the rent was extremely reasonable. If more was expected than what my house offered, this renter would probably be more comfortable staying in a hotel. Unofrtunately, no house nor decor is going to meet everyone's taste and style.

First off, I want to say thank you to Joyce for allowing us to rent her house last weekend. This house is LARGE - enough room so the people don't feel like they are on top of one another. The pool table/hot tub/poker table room downstairs was a treat - and the dual living rooms each with HD flat screen tv's and separate fireplaces allowed people upstairs to watch NFL playoff football while people downstairs watched movies. The kitchen/dining room area was fully stocked with plates/cooking utensils, etc. - the only thing we had to buy was the food, everything else was there already. The sleeping arraingments worked out perfectly because there is actually an extra day bed (two twin beds) downstairs that is not shown on the website that can be used for two singles or a couple. The house is literally 5 minutes from Stowe Resort - a big change from the house we rented in the past which was 20 minutes away. It definitely nice to come from the mountain and have a quick drive back to the house. In terms of the rental process, it couldn't have been easier - Joyce was responsive through email and phone. Thank you again Joyce - it was a memorable weekend!!! JordanOwner response: Thank you, Clay, for writing such a nice review. I am thrilled you and your guests had such a great time. That's what the house is for. Even the snow cooperated. As requested, I have already booked you for next year. Thank you too for leaving the house in good condition. My caretaker said it was well taken care of. Enjoy the rest of 2012, and see you in 2013. Regards, Joyce

I rented this house for my family of 7, including kids (aged18-24), and 1 golden retriever. We had a great time! The house was very spacious, we loved the amenities, including the pool table and hot tub. It was close to the ski area - and not too far from the town. Joyce (the owner) was great to work with, and answered my questions promptly. I would recommend this house and would like to return next year!Owner response: Thank, you, Victoria, for taking the time to write this review. I am sooo glad you had the opportunity to spend part of the holiday season at my home with your family. It is not too often that we get the chance to be with our grown children. Their lives are so busy. I hope the remainder of 2012 is kind to you and your family and look forward to seeing you in 2013. Regards, Joyce

First off, it was a pleasure working with Joyce. She is very approachable and easy-going. I went on a ski / snowboard trip with a group of 10 friends for a 3 night weekend....and it was awesome! We are young professionals in our mid to late twenties, so we know the balance of having a good time while being respectable. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need as we would make breakfast before getting on the slopes. Since it was March, we had the opportunity to grill and use the deck, which was great. Enough sunlight comes in the living room to give you a nice view of the outside. It really feels like you are in a "mountain type" atmosphere but with the luxury of being in a modern, cozy house. All 10 of us slept comfortably, and there is space to sleep more (enough couch room and enough open space to bring air mattresses). Very close to the mountain; it took us about 5-7 minutes to get there. Thank you Joyce and HomeAway for letting me locate this house. I will definitely make this a yearly trip if possible.Recommended for: Families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+.

Spent the week in this beautiful house with 6 people and 2 dogs. It was immaculate when we arrived, and the grounds keeper was easy to reach in case of a problem. Its really spacious and we'd definitely go back with more people next time. It had everything we needed from cook wear to wine glasses to board games, and even a washer/dryer! With 2 living areas w/ fireplaces, a hot tub, a pool talbe and a wine fridge, you'll want to spend every night in! Joyce was great to work with and the place was in the perfect location; close to the mountain and the village. Lots of space for kids, dogs and plenty of friends. We definitley plan on going back in the Spring/ Summer. Would recommend to anyone looking for a getaway.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

This house is in a great location and had plenty of room for our group of 6 people to spread out and make ourselves at home. It would work for larger groups as well as there are two living rooms and a game room. The owner was easy to work with and promptly answered questions. The house is a great value for the space and amenities. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a comfortable place to base a ski trip out of, lot of comfortable seating and great pool table and game room. The living room had views of the mountain and the location is close to the mountain and Mountain Road without the bustle of being on Mountain Road.Recommended for: Pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.
