We designed and built this house with the intention of using sustainable building practices as well as creating a luxury home. We found you can have both. Graceful curves and custom touches will delight and inspire you. The house is at once grand and homey. The kitchen is enormous with ample room to have many hands help with producing meals. The bedrooms have thick wool carpets and hand tinted wall colors. The beds fitted with high quality linens, plump pillows and down comforters. Crestone Creek flows through the land cutting between hundred year old Cottonwoods. The view is astounding...massive peaks silent before you from almost anyplace you stand. If you would like, we have an amazing chef just next door who will delight you with his mile high chocolate cake and fried chicken or any other type of diet. The quaint town of Crestone is a short walk away. We are flexible with our accommodations so please don't hesitate to write us with any specifics i.e. from a couple's get away to a family reunion.

We loved our Winter Solstice stay at the Butterfly House. It is quite large, oh-so tastefully appointed, and offers splendid views of the mountains and surrounding community of Crestone. (Organic vegetables are available at the local health food store, just down the road - who would guess in a town with a full-time population of 150?!) This is truly a special place, with sacred sites every which way and Mother Nature beckoning around every corner. A gurgling creek is at the edge of the property and, were it not for the bountiful snow, I'm sure there would have been even more to enjoy in the sumptuous backyard. But back to the house itself. The living room served as a perfect gathering space for us, and one evening a large buck came very near the window to offer his blessings. There are fluffy carpets in each bedroom, and the kitchen is big and communal. The upstairs master bedroom offers stunning views, the "kids room" is fanciful and lovely, and the two bathtubs happen to be divine! The owners of this home (who were very available when we called, before and during our stay) clearly put alot of love into it. I would recommend this rental to anyone, and hope that my group can return again someday. Thank you, sweet Butterfly House in Crestone, for helping to facilitate a few days we will never forget.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Rates
A full house(3+ bedrooms)rents for $300. per night. 2 bed = $225. One bedrm $125. Over 7 people $375+ per night. 2 night min. Cleaning fee beginning at $50.00.(2-4) We have tried to make staying with us affordable. If you are just needing one bedroom you will likely have the whole house to yourself, unless all parties agree to a shared house rental. We have a great children's room. It can sleep quite a few people depending on what is comfortable to you (up to 7). However a family with 4+ children is not really a 2 bedroom rental. We need to add a surcharge of $20.00 per child (4+ children) per night. We require a deposit at booking.
Note: Until confirmed, rates are subject to change without notice.

About the owner: We are a family of 6. We now reside in Boulder, Colorado. Our children are teenagers and we love to travel and spend lots of family time together. With a busy schedule of our children's activities we do not get to Crestone as much as we would like. Please go to our house and enjoy it as that makes us happy!
Why the Owner Chose Crestone:
We did not intend to have the house as a rental but as we needed to relocate to Boulder. We built it as a great family house when our children were young.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The peace and quiet is amazing as well as the quality or the air and water. Everything is so fresh and lovely. We love hiking and going to the hot springs and the sand dunes.
