Panoramic View, Awesome Sunset - 3BR Condo on Folly River
- Minimum stay:Contact manager
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
Sunset 98, Mariner’s Cay is ideally situated in the southwest corner of the Mariner’s Cay compound giving guests a panoramic view of the Folly River as well as knockout sunsets from the wrap-around screen porch. Mariner’s Cay is a gated community of residents and renters, which offers guests not only a swimming pool and tennis courts but also is only minutes away from the beaches and town of Folly Beach either by car, golf cart, bicycle or walking. The privacy and lack of traffic is perfect for small children and teenagers to bike, trike, skateboard or just hang out.
Since Sunset 98 is a corner unit, the view and the light upon entry is one of those ‘wow’ moments. With a southwestern exposure, the kitchen/dining/living area is totally open to the Folly River and marshes, including the occasional school of marlin. The next ‘wow’ moment comes at sunset when one must get his drink, hurry to the balcony and allow him/herself to be awed.
As can be seen by the photos, the unit has a large, master bedroom opening onto the balcony; a twin bedroom off the rear balcony and a double bedroom in the southeast corner for those who just want to get away for a nap or a good book. The open living area has a newly installed flat screen HDTV on a wall pivot, ie, no messing around by the kids...DVD is also included. In addition, both the master and double bedrooms have flat screen HDTVs, and for those who can’t completely get away, wireless is available throughout the unit.
Folly Beach is a six mile long barrier island, and the closest beach to historic Charleston, South Carolina (15 minutes on the Connector) where one can find outstanding cuisine, the performing arts and Civil War history. At the far eastern end of Folly Island, the historic Morris Island Lighthouse is a short trek through the dunes; and at the far western end, Folly Beach County Park, which is quieter and more scenic than the busy Center Street beach.
During summer season (May 23-Aug. 7), we rent by the week and our turnover day is Saturday. Check-in: 3:00 PM; Check-out: 10:00 AM
Keywords: Mariners Cay and Raquet Club, gated community with pool and tennis courts, children friendly, last right turn before going over bridge into town of Folly Beach

This three-bedroom condo at Mariner's Cay is a delight. The inside is nicely appointed. But it is the outside that takes center stage. The wrap-around screened porch offers a fabulous view of the Folly River and the brilliant scarlet sunsets. Also, the many windows keep the condo sunny and bright. Robert and Gigi make check in and out especially easy. Thanks so much!! My husband and I will definitely return to Folly Beach and to this condo.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this condo; yes the views from the porch were awesome and beyond.. most of our time, when at condo, was spent on the porch enjoying the breeze, water, boats, dolphins, marsh, sunsets and just relaxing...and best of all the view can be seen from most areas! The location was great for trips to Charleston and touring surrounding areas and yet be able to walk into Folly beach. Most importantly the owners were easy and great to work with and very accomodating. Special thanks to Gigi, the local contact who was there to help when we encoutered weather related travel issues. We hope to return asap.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had several family members traveling from different parts of the country to meet us in Folly. The home was perfect for what we needed. It was well furnished and very clean (the last part is very important to us). The beach was not too far away, only a 5 minute drive.........and I guess we have to mention the view. It was absolutely gorgeous. Kids and adults spent most of their time on the wrap around balcony.........and what a view. Gigi was very accommodating and responsive to all of our questions. We know where we will be staying next year!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

A sense of "calm & relaxation" came over me as soon as I walked in the door & saw the view! The unit was everything I expected & more. The listing description & photos were right on target. The property was cleaned and well maintained. The only improvements I would recommend would be more comfortable furniture in the living area in place of the wicker & maybe replace the rocker on the porch with a couple of new rockers! Everybody loves a rocker on the porch, & the rocker that is there does not rock very well due to the "rockers". The bedroom that is listed as having a queen bed seems more to be a full/double bed. A larger bed in that bedroom would be wonderful! Those are just suggestions to make the unit "ideal", but we still loved it & intend to return! The owner, Gigi, & her Mom were all super nice to work with. We ate out every night & didn't bother cooking at all, so we did some really good eating at the local restaurants!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I had a wonderful and relaxing stay at 98 Mariner's Cay. And, yes, the porch was the favorite spot with its beautiful view of the estuaries, frequent dolphin sightings, speed boats and sailboats, paddle boarders, kayakers, and, of course, the sunsets! It's screened in so there were no pesky bugs and enclosed so we had no fears when our grandson would crawl out on his own, which he did often. Of course, it is easy to focus on the porch, but the condo itself is bright and cheerful, comforta le and well-equipped! And the condo is in easy reach of the beach, restaurants, and plenty of sightseeing. We look forward to a return visit!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Dan, so happy your family, daughters and grandson could enjoy the unit...plus of course the surrounding environs, especially the small town of Folly Beach with all it's attractions. Look forward to seeing you next year!

Beautiful setting and incredible view. Friendly swimming pool for the kids and easy bicycling to guarded beaches. Small kitchen but very well appointed. In a word: "Magnifique!"Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Merci Jeanne, for the 'magnificent' review. Yes, Mariners' Cay is very kids friendly as well as Folly's beaches. You're so close by, feel free to come more often. A bientot, Robert

We truly enjoyed our stay at Mariner's Cay Sunset 098! Robert and Gigi were both very friendly and easy to work with. The unit was very clean and looked exactly as pictured online. I was happy to find a tea kettle and a cast iron skillet among the items in the kitchen. The kids ate as many meals as possible on the screened in porch--it was their favorite place other than the beach! Beautiful sunsets and I caught the full moon over the water one night! The kids didn't want to leave! We had a lot of rain the week we were there but found many places in Charleston to go for entertainment--it was so quick and easy to get to Charleston when we couldn't be on the beach. We toured Fort Sumter, took a carriage ride, spent the day at the Aquarium, and toured the USS Yorktown at Patriot's Point (my 8 year old son really liked that!) We ate at Hyman's Seafood which was good but thought that the Folly Beach Crab Shack was better! I got beautiful pictures at sunset of the Morris Island Lighthouse. We will definitely be back--hopefully we can just sit on the beach next time!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Betsy, Thanks so much for the validation of the pictures. Am not a professional photographer, but tried to make them accurate while giving an overview of the unit and Mariners' Cay. Also happy that all of you could enjoy the condo and environs even during a rainy week. Please feel free to come when it's sunny and warm!

The majestic view of the river/marsh was definitely the highlight. We sat out on the porch every night and watched the sun set. Gigi was very helpful in making the room wheel-chair accessible for my grandmother. The beds in the two larger bedrooms were a little high for her, so she used one of the twin beds and it worked well.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Miriam, we're so pleased that the unit could not only fit your mother's wheelchair, but that she found that one of the twin beds was perfect for her. Glad she and you all enjoyed the balcony and views. Come again soon.

Wow! This was just an amazing vacation for us. Folly Beach is a wonderful place, and I hope we will be able to make it back again. In regards to the condo: the posted pictures really don't tell how comfortable and well appointed it is. The second we stepped inside, it felt like home! Within an hour, my party of six (with ages ranging from 3-63) were all completely settled in and staring dumb-mouthed at diving pelicans and leaping dolphins in the "backyard". The place was spotlessly clean, had anything you might need or want in it, and perfectly situated for enjoying Folly Beach as well as Charleston and the surrounding area. Robert was very pleasant and easy to do business with and Gigi was just wonderful. Highly Recommended: COA (Charleston Outdoor Adventures) which was less than 2 mi away. We went on a boat tour and two kayak tours. The Seaquarium in Charleston The Magnolia Plantation The Lost Dog Cafe The Sandbar, a new restaurant in Folly The Piggly Wiggly grocery store, of course! Thanks everyone!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Chicory, we're so happy your family enjoyed it so much...and that it felt like home to all. Same with us for sure. Thanks also for the recommendations for Charleston sightseeing as well as the local places. It's just such a beautiful condo in such a perfect location.
