Jungle Paradise & 5 Star Ambiance
This was our first trip to Costa Rica and Tulemar was highly recommended by a friend. He's an even closer friend now as this place was all and more than we could have imagined. With wildlife everywhere we hardly needed to venture from our exquisite tree-top perch in Villa Cielito but venture we did. Tulemar and the environs surrounding it made the 8 nights we stayed there seem hardly enough time and we are already planning our return. Dave and his staff are the best. They made us feel like family. Chris, our concierge; Jose, our chef for two nights with his brother David; Danny and David #2 at the beach - you are truly marvelous people. I know I've left someone out. My wife and I along with the couple we traveled with laughed (and are still giggling) over the remarkable blessings bestowed on us during our stay. It seemed as though all we had to do was consider what we wanted in a perfect vacation and it would magically appear. You want a sloth? Well here's one at the adult pool. Monkeys? Right away folks - on your balcony no less. Whales? - Breeching off the stern of our fishing boat. Fresh snapper to catch for dinner? Will a 20 pounder do? Jose and David will take care of the preparation in your villa. I could go on but I'll leave the rest up to your imagination. Go to Tulemar. Be pampered and, if you desire, seek an adventure or two. It's waiting for you. Thank you Cindy who suggested we stay in Villa Cielito.

Unforgettable Family Vacation
Tulemar is wonderful! Our family of four stayed for 8 nights in August and had an incredible time. We booked the trip late and ended up moving rooms/houses within Tulemar twice in order to stay there. It was well worth it and our concierge, Chris, made each move hassle free. It was nice to see different accommodations within the property. Villa Cielito, with its amazing ocean view, balcony Jacuzzi was our favorite. Chris and the entire staff were friendly, helpful, and seem to really enjoy their jobs. A groundskeeper pointed out a sloth hanging out in a tree that we never would have spotted on our own. The private beach is beautiful and user friendly, with chairs, towels, boogie boards and kayaks available. David at the beach is extremely friendly and set us up each day with our beach essentials. I highly recommend Tulemar for anyone looking for a bit of luxury surrounded by the beautiful Manuel Antonio rain forest.

Amazing Resort with stunning views
Tulemar - A beautiful property, immaculately maintained and staffed with wonderful people. This was our first visit to Costa Rica and we are so happy we found Tulemar. From the moment we made our reservations through Cindy, she and our concierge Chris, ensured we had everything we could possibly need for our stay. The villa (Villa Cielito) was exceptional with stunning views and very comfortable throughout. The location within Tulemar was very convenient, just a short walk from all the restaurants town and the Tulemar restaurant and pools. We used the private beach inside Tulemar most days, good services (kayaks, boogie boards, towels, chairs) readily available and staffed with friendly beach attendants to help. All the staff we encountered, bartenders, drivers, wait staff, etc. were really friendly and went the extra mile to make our experience special. A special thanks to Chris, our concierge and new friend, who was truly fabulous and literally took care of everything, booking trips, chefs, services, translations, restaurant reservations, finding fresh fruit - the list goes on. The setting of Tulemar, in the forest overlooking the ocean, was more spectacular than we could have imagined. The wildlife surrounding us was mind boggling - every moment sitting on the balcony is captivating with the sights and sounds of birds and monkeys going about their business. Amazing. We found all the Costa Rican people we encountered to be very friendly and it is apparent that the population take a great deal of pride in their beautiful country. We will definitely be back! Pura Vida!

Luxury in the Canopy
Villa Cielito is spectacularly situated, and beautifully decorated, with every amenity our family of 7 possibly could have wanted. We enjoyed the beautiful beach, nature trails and pools. Before we had even gotten to our villa, Chris had already pointed out 2 sloths and a boa constrictor leisurely crossing the road. The daily monkey show on the Villa's deck was a highlight of our trip; we also saw several iguanas, lizards and birds on the premises. Diego's surf school is a fantastic choice, and all of the other tours (zip lining and white water rafting) that Chris arranged for our family were first class. Every last staff person at Tulemar was exceedingly professional and warm. I would give this resort 6 stars if it were an option!

Only TulemarGuest comment entered by manager
My family and I just returned from Tulemar. I can't think of any resort, hotel or B&B that would be like Tulemar; no way any place could be comparable in quality and hospitality and the uniquely beautiful, spacious setting. My experience in planning our trip was exceptional. All questions were promptly answered and all tours arranged for completely before our visit. Thank you Cindy for suggesting this wonderful property. Tulemar staff are the best I have experienced on any vacation anywhere. Chris our concierge helped us considerably during our trip, and was always happy to help, offering anything from drives to the store to taking us somewhere much farther away; like one day took us to visit Kids Saving the Rain forest animal rescue. Villa Cielito has amazing views and we were visited by wild like daily. The kids really enjoyed watching all of the monkeys and different animals. The villa was always cleaned very well by maid staff and no bugs! We made use of the beautiful beach and all of the pools! All of the staff are always friendly and helpful. There was a couple there on one of the last days of our trip. They had their two young daughters with them. They were renting a house in a nearby town. But, they had stayed at Tulemar before, and regretted not staying there this time. Even though they were not staying there, the staff were really helpful to them and this couple said they'd never stay anywhere else but Tulemar again. Neither would we. Hope to return one day to this beautiful resort.

Wonderful VacationGuest comment entered by manager
We just spent a week at Villa Cielito in the beautiful Tulemar resort. It is a very comfortable two bedroom house with the most amazing views from every window! The house has a great kitchen and plenty of space to relax, especially on the balcony. The monkeys visit daily and the bird watching is amazing. The house is very clean and well maintained and couldn't have been more comfortable. The location of the house was ideal for us with access to the adult pool across the street and the beach just a short walk down the mountain. We did appreciate the shuttle service to get back to the house or pool from the beach as the terrain in Tulemar is quite steep but it is on the side of a mountain so that is to be expected. We were also a short walk to the main road with its variety of great restaurants and bars and the local grocery store. We tried several of the restaurants but El Patio/Cafe Milagro was our favorite for a higher end meal and El Tipico which serves typical Costa Rican food at a great price. One of the greatest assets was having our own concierge. Chris was awesome and went out of his way to be sure we had everything we needed. He was able to offer guidance for our stay in San Jose as well as taking great care of us once we got to the house. It was great to know that she was just a phone call away if we needed anything. Thank you Cindy for suggesting this amazing villa. We will be back that is for sure.

Fabulous! Will be remembered
My family and I spent ten beautiful days in Tulemar at Villa Cielito. We shared a part of Manuel Antonio national park (literally -- only our panoramic glass windows separated us from it all) with butterflies, monkeys, sloths, toucans, bats, spiders and other wonderful creatures visiting our terrace and. The people all care deeply about their environment. We learned the true meaning of "Pura Vida." Everything about our trip was perfect. Chris was our concierge and he made sure our every want or need was met including scheduling chefs for dinner preparation, arranging restaurant reservations and activities (fishing, white water rafting, zip line rides), cleaning the mud stains from my white stained linen pants, and pointing out wildlife. We saw amazing thunder and lightening storms, rainbows, and blue and rose skies. The private beach and walking trails were amazing. You truly never have to leave Tulemar. I could go on and on about this place. I will most certainly return to paradise.

The trip could not have been better!!!
My family does a lot of traveling and by far this is the best trip we have taken. We went as a group of eight with some old friends. The kids loved the pools and the beach and overall the service was amazing! Chris was our concierge. He handled reservations of every kind for us (excursions and restaurant). Cindy made the arrangements for us to stay at Villa Cielito. We were glad that she suggested this villa. The villa had amazing views and it was beautiful. The wild life was everywhere and made this trip more then we expected. What more could you want then a private beach, restaurants within walking distance and outstanding service. We will be back. Hopefully soon.

A must stay!Guest comment entered by manager
A must stay!
We were choosing between two hotels in Manuel Antonio and decided to stay at Tulemar. What a great call that was! This beautifully landscaped and very private, low key compound is built cascading down a hill, ending at the only private beach in Manuel Antonio (for use exclusively by guests). A house account allows you to eat at a pool restaurant or the beach, or have a private chef prepare dinner in your private bungalow or villa. We spent much time at the beach boogie boarding, kayaking, and having lunch served to us under trees where squirrel monkeys were playing above. The villa was not only comfortable but had spectacular panoramic ocean views through walls of glass. Tulemar's web site's pictures, if anything, don't do justice to the views, pool area, or restaurant. Each villa has a beautiful kitchen so eating every meal out is not a requirement...a real benefit when traveling with kids. Most impressive was the concierge program: Chris Madrigal was assigned to us when we made our reservation, and he went so far beyond the call of duty ... from having fresh flowers in our bungalow when we arrived to arranging activities with specific naturalists and surfing instructors to driving us to the local market to buy snacks and groceries to cook ourselves dinner in our bungalow one evening to showing up with home made chocolates and just in time to save us from ourselves as we tried to order a pizza to be delivered (our kids' request) with our broken Spanish. His personal service on top of a superlative location made our vacation, and allowed us to be as lazy and laid back as the sloths we could see from our living room window. The biggest problem we can report is, with so many places in Costa Rica we haven't yet visited, how we will find a way to spend time at Tulemar on our next trip! We will request Villa Cielito when we return.

We will be back
We picked Tulemar based on the reviews in TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. We then spoke to Cindy and she was very helpful. She suggested the villa we stayed in and we were glad she did. We stayed in Villa Cielito with two bedrooms downstairs and living/kitchen upstairs. When at the villa, we spent most of our time on the large porch. The view was very amazing. Probably the best! We saw lots of birds and monkeys. We made all our arrangements for tours through Julien before arriving and everything was as promised (time, price etc.) and we enjoyed all of the them - guided tour of Manuel Antonio, Rafiki rafting, Buggy jungle tour (incredible water falls) and guided tour to Carara. Julien handled everything we wanted or needed. We spent afternoons at the beach and saw the same sloth there two days in a row. The beach is very wonderful and we observed families with young children having a great time playing in the water. I would advise reading a number of the other reviews so you will know more about what to expect but this was one of our better experiences ever. We will be back. Hopefully soon.

Great villa, service, location & family fun
Stayed here in June with our children and they loved it. Villa Cielito was very comfortable, offered amazing views, decorated beautifully and more. Private beach was nice and not too busy. Waking distance to grocery store and several good restaurants. Staff and service was exceptional. Easy and cheap bus service to Park. Wildlife was the highlight. Saw 3 types of monkeys, a sloth, several iguanas, geckos, and many birds on the property, before even going to the park. Pools were very nice. Would absolutely stay here again. Thank you Cindy for suggesting this wonderful property.

This place was incredible, didn't want to leave.... There was 7 of us in a two bedroom villa (Villa Cielito) and it was beautiful and spacious. It had amazing views and much more too. We were staring at the white face monkeys from the outdoor jacuzzi on the upper balcony to the outdoor showers on the bottom balcony. It was picture perfect! Lovely resort, great housekeeping and wonderful accommodations. Would be more then willing to stay there again, wouldn't stay anywhere else actually! Pura Vida!!!!

Villa Cielito Fantastic!Guest comment entered by manager
Villa Cielito Fantastic!
I wasn't really sure what to expect as it was my first time in the country. After arriving, however, it became clear that we didn't have anything to worry about. We booked through Cindy, and our concierge was Chris. Chris arranged everything for us and he was incredibly helpful. Our villa had amazing views, a phenomenal beach, and plenty to do! I went with friends and the resort offered a perfect setting. There is so much to do and see in the area. The restaurants right outside of the gates were all great. Walking distance to them made it very nice. We went during the rainy season and that did not prevent us from doing anything you want to do. It rains for a while, stops and then it looks like it never rained. This was one of my best vacations ever. I will be back.

Don't want to leave!
Came here with my husband and about 10 of his co-workers. We had 2 villas between all of us and have been here for 4 nights. We stayed in Villa Cielito. I do NOT want to leave, it's beautiful. The staff here is incredible and it's nice and quite for those who want to relax. Private beach with ALL amenities included and drivers to take you up and down the hill (from villa to beach). The walk in showers were incredible, probably the best shower I've EVER been in (big shower head coming out of ceiling). Shower while watching monkeys jump from trees? What more could you ask for? This place is a must. Worth every cent. Thank you Cindy for setting this up.

When you first drive up too Villa Vigia you know there something wonderful behind the wall...when you walk through the front doors it is breath taking...the views are magnificent, the home is awesome. You will be pamper from the time you get there till the time you leave. You are on hillside in the middle of a jungle with the Pacific Ocean surrounding you..The sunsets are outstanding. Being in the rainforest with the monkeys, birds and other wildlife is amazing. This property offers many types of foliage and flowers of all kind. If you feel like staying in for the evening have your own private chef cook a gourmet dinner for you. Want to go site seeing the concierge will make all your arrangements and will attend to your every need. Don't miss the zip lining it was the best. Go for a private sailboat ride or just relax by the beach. I am sure your stay will be amazing as was mine. I can't wait to return. Villa Vigia it is truly magical.
