About the owner: I'm a retired corporate executive and my spouse Bill, is a retired senior executive from the Federal Government. We live on the adjoining property, Ashland Farm, circa 1862. Bill is now a gardener and raises vegetables which are sold through a broker to 70 Washington, DC restaurants. We raise chickens and provide fresh eggs to our guests at Rockwood, also fresh vegetables in the summer. Both of us are active volunteers in the community. We also have a condo in the New Orleans French Quarter and in downtown Baltimore--we are avid Oriole and Ravens fans. We love to travel and our favorite destination is Italy. From 1997 to 2003, we lived in Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai for my job and we treasure that experience. We've attempted to make Rockwood Farm everything a vacation renter would want with attention to the smallest details. We want our guest's expectations to be exceeded.
Why the Owner Chose Madison: This property was part of the original Ashland plantation but had been divided in the 1930s. Since it's boundary is along the back of our land, we wanted to protect our privacy.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse: Madison County is located in Cental Virginia's Shenandoah Valley and is one of the most beautiful areas in the state. This property is near the National Park. It is only 5 minutes off Route 29 yet very secluded.
