Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2010
My name is Casey Halverson. I was raised on a small dairy farm not far from the rental property. I attended college studying Agricultural business and in 2009 purchased Norwegian Hollow Hideaway. This is the full service bar and grill located within a mile of the property. This may not be an Agricultural business, but I am loving every minute of it.
Why the Owner Chose Viroqua
I purchased this property for two reasons. First of all it is located very close to my business and home. Also my uncle built this house in 1980 and it has been in our family ever since. I have always enjoyed the view of this home and believe anyone who stays here will as well.

Stayed here is 2 other families and it worked out great. And a very affordable stay. The house was very clean and had mostly everything we needed. Very quiet and secluded area but not too far away from the town. But there is no cell phone coverage here. And his bar & grill down the road was also great. Would definitely recommend!

This is a great place for a get-away from the burdens of everyday life. There is no cell reception at the house, but if it's needed it is only a minute drive until civilization. It is about a 10 minute drive to the nearest town with a grocery store It is furnished with some cooking supplies and it is air conditioned! It was very clean and well decorated. The owner was very helpful with supplying us with the things we needed that were not at the house. We actually used it to host a bachelorette party, which was perfect because of its location. It is nothing like a 5 star hotel, but what do you expect...it's Purdy, WI.

The place was relatively clean but obviously needs a little female touch. First of all there are absolutely no window coverings in this home. Granted it's out in the middle of nowhere but trying to take a shower during evening hours without a shade on the window or a curtain is a little more than uncomfortable. We all really prefered a bed with a mattress pad on it. Sleelping on a plastic mattress cover with a slippery sheet on top just doesn't do it. The bedspreads were washed, put in a dryer that was too hot and so they melted in places on the back side. THE WORST however was the SMELL. You need to turn on the dehumidifier and air conditioner before your guests arrive. The house is either filled with mold or had a very insidious odor that took the two days we were there to dissipate. There is only 1 towel bar in the bathroom and only a few hangers in the whole place and you need to put clothes bars in all the bedroom closets not just some of them. There is absolutely no television reception. We understand that there may be difficulty in receiving a signal due to the location but even an antenna for local reception would be nice. All in all we had a great time while we were in the Purdy Valley and the Viroqua area but unless changes were made we wouldn't wouldn't use this rental again. This place is more like a college guys bachelor pad than a guest residence.
