This colossal home sets the bar for premier vacation home rentals. It's only fitting if you're visiting the majestic giant sequoias, that you enhance your experience by spending your down-time at a home equally as spectacular.
The time is now if you want to reserve this home for your 2013 vacation. Please take a few minutes to read our past guests' comments. Their kind and comprehensive reviews speak volumes and endorse our commitment to providing you with an uncomparable experience.
You won't find any lodging that better showcases the beauty of this section of the Sierra Nevadas. With its one-of-a-kind 360 degree panoramic view, Sequoia Alta Vista is a destination in itself. As you make the climb into Three Rivers, this majestic home perches atop the highest hill, easy to spot from miles away. Its unique location offers its guests both privacy and breathtaking scenery. Step out of your car and you'll literally gasp at the unparalleled sweeping view looking up-canyon at the world famous Sequoia National Park. Hovering over the hamlet of Three Rivers, you can watch the Kaweah River as it snakes its way through the oaks and sycamores, disappearing as it empties into beautiful Lake Kaweah.
You can't get any closer to Sequoia National Park than Three Rivers, which is just a few minutes from the entrance to the park. As California's first national park, SNP boasts the biggest trees in the world and the highest peak in the continental U.S. Day hikes take you past rushing creeks, cascading waterfalls, picture-perfect mountain meadows (complete with wildlife), and into pitch black caves. You can hop a shuttle in town and spend the whole day on a guided tour if you prefer not to drive yourself. Whether winter or summer, Sequoia National Park offers abundant recreational opportunities to its one million visitors each year.
After a day's excursion, relax in complete privacy in comfy chairs on the bi-level deck; awaken your senses with the sweetness of seasonal fruit tree blossoms, the soothing white noise of the river, the refreshing down-canyon evening breeze, magnificent sunsets, or a rejuvenating plunge in the pool. Redwood trees offer a reprieve from the sun and promise complete privacy when swimming. Once the sun goes down, you and your loved ones can gather around the warm and glowing fire pit and just enjoy the peace and quiet of a country evening. If you are really in the mood to be pampered, slip into the luxurious over-sized tub in the master suite, enjoy a complimentary beverage and just soak up the beauty that fills up every window with a different portrait of nature's glorious landscape.
Your meals will be a joy to prepare in the spacious, sunlit kitchen, complete with all the essentials from spices and staples to cookware and utensils. Stainless steel appliances, opulent counter space, and vaulted ceilings add to the ambience of this room. The open floor plan of the house makes sure the cook isn't left out when the rest of the guests are lounging around watching TV, playing games, or hanging out on the deck. A grocery shopping service is available if, after a long drive, you would rather have the fridge fully stocked, slip immediately into vacation mode, and fire up the BBQ.
The bedrooms are located on opposite sides of the house, assuring guests total privacy. Bathrooms adjoin two of the bedrooms. An oversized glass shower and large tub contribute to the elegance of the master bath, which opens to a view of Case Mountain and the south fork of the Kaweah River.
The little town of Three Rivers has long been known as a great escape from the city; only 3 1/2 hours from Los Angeles and 1 1/2 hours from the Fresno airport. Many of its residents visited here as children, camping with their parents, only to return decades later to raise their own families and live out their dreams. Spend your day gallivanting around town, visiting the art studios, museum, second-hand stores, award-winning candy store, and restaurants. There are several community churches, gas stations, grocery stores, a coffee house, fitness center, golf course, and a pharmacy.
Once you experience the tranquility of Sequoia Alta Vista, the down-home friendliness of the community, and the majesty of Sequoia National Park, you will feel refreshed and ready to tackle life back at home...but for now, let us be your home away from home.

This was our first family vacation with the twins from Virginia and it couldn't be better, the view of this house is just amazing. The way everything is set up made us feel at home! Cozy, relaxing and comfortable, enjoying the firepit at night with the moon right on top of the mountain take your breathe away, enjoying this after visitng Sequoia's restaurant and park at only 20min. and finalizing the stay with a professional massage at the sunset on the deck of the house (We took it from the guest book at the house). Thanks Robin because since I called, you make me feel it was going to be a great vacation cause how nice, lovely, professional and detailed you are, like the bread you left for us which it was great. So far the best house we rent for vacations, we had rent on Tenennesse, Virginia, Florida, but nothing like this. We will comeback sooner than later to have another great time with family, friends, to enjoy again the view, barbeque, the pool, view, etc. Our friends are coming back in September and of curse we recommend this house to anyone willing to have a great and relaxing time. Thanks you so much for everything!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Pablo, family and friends, Thank you so much for the review. It is greatly appreciated. So this was your first vacation with your twins. Glad to hear it was fun for you all. thank you for saying that the house made you feel cozy, relaxed and comfortable. That is what we hope to achieve for our guests. So you had Robin's friend come up to the house and give you a relaxing massage. Makes me jealous sounds wonderful. We hope you will come back soon. I'm looking forward to your friends coming back in September. Hope they will enjoy their time at Sequoia Alta Vista and hope you won't be far behind them. Again thank you for taking the time to send a review. Gary and Mary (owners)

We shared this very comfortable home with two other couples for the Jazzaffair weekend in Three Rivers. It was the perfect choice for us. Special features were the open floor plan with a great kitchen, and the wonderful deck with the beautiful view of the valley and the mountains. Robin was delightful to work with, and we loved the delicious loaf of bread that she baked and had waiting for us. The listing very adequately described the home and the location, and we would highly recommend it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Winnie, Thank you for taking the time to give us such a nice review. We appreciate it. Sounds like you, your husband and friends had a great time at the Jazzafair. I know they draw quite a crowd every year. Everyone seems to have a great time. We are very glad you enjoyed our home. We also enjoy the beautiful views and the large deck off the back off the house. I love to sit out there and watch the cloulds go by and at night all of the stars, it is amazing. We hope you can come back again for the Jazzafair or just come for rest and relaxation. Thanks again for the review and spending time at Sequoia Alta Vista. Gary and Mary (owners)

We stayed here for three nights while our family was on a driving tour of California. We arrived at midnight because we spent too much time finishing up our day at Yosemite and Mariposa Grove. Everyone was tired from a long day and drive. It was so nice to find that Robin had left us a loaf of fresh baked bread and cookies on the counter! (they didn't last long...) The property was in excellent condition with lots of extras in the kitchen (full jar of Hershey's kisses... they didn't last long!) Location was premium on top of a hill overlooking the foothills of Sierra Nevada mountains. Great views, nice and quiet. I thought the property was well-positioned sort of midway between Sequoia Park entrance to the east, Visalia to the west (good sized city with anything at all you might need to buy), with tons of local orange groves. We met an orange grove owner who let us pick some navel oranges off her trees. I'm not a big orange fan, but honestly these things were unbelievable, never tasted any fruit so juicy & sweet - amazing. Only problem is we only had 3 days -- sad to leave. Thanks Robin -- Very fond memories!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Gene and family, Thanks for staying at Sequoia Alta Vista. Sounds like you had quite a California vacation. Busy, busy, busy ! We are so glad you had a nice stay at our home in Three Rivers. We try hard to keep our home in great condition for our guest. Robin's bread is great! And I love making cookies. So we love hearing that people enjoyed them. This time of year the oranges and lemons are great. We hope you helped yourself to the fruit that was ready on our trees. Thank you so much for the great review. And please do come back again sometime soon and stay longer. Thanks again Gary and Mary (owners)

This was our THIRD stay at this amazing home, and that should tell you a lot! The house is so beautiful, and the views from every window are absolutely breathtaking. We awoke our first morning to look out from the master bedroom window just in time to see the orange sunrise expanding over the purple mountains and green hills. Simply stunning. This house is immaculate, and you will not lack for anything during your stay. The kitchen and bathrooms are stocked with everything you will need to stay comfortable and happy. The bi-level deck is the perfect place for your morning coffee or evening cocktail, and on chillier days, you can keep warm and comfy by the fire pit. This is a great home for families with children or two families traveling together. Plenty of privacy when you want it and lots of space to commune together. As you will see from the other reviews, no review of this home can be complete without loudly singing the praises of Robin, the manager. We have stayed in many home rentals, and no property manager has ever come close to providing the level of attention and care that you will receive from Robin in tending to every detail to make sure that your stay is perfect. In addition to being a true professional, she is just genuinely a lovely soul!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Valerie and family, thank you for the very kind review. You have really captured the feeling that we hope our guest will feel when they come to our home. My husband and I really enjoy our home it is so relaxing and peaceful we just never get to spend much time there. Robin does a very good job with our guest she does go above and beyond. Thank you again for staying with us and again thanks for the great review. Gary and Mary owners

We decided to stage our annual family reunion in the high sierra this year, to show our children the magnificent Sequoia trees. We picked Hilltop Home to accomodate three families, with 4 young kids, and we could not have been happier with our choice! The house is exactly as in the pictures: clean, well kept, with a fully equipped kitchen. Robin and the owners even put up a Xmas tree for our holiday week! The living room is marvelous with its high ceilings and lots of space, and the views are stunning. In late December, we did not use the pool nor the BBQ - but what an amazing space it is for great outside events. Robin greeted us with a custom ordered cheesecake which was fantastic, and checked in with us very frequently. She had prepared the house so thoughtfully - lots of age appropriate kids' books and toys greeted us. That was truly the theme of the week - amazing "customer service". We have used VRBO for many years for our annual get togethers, and this was one of the very best houses we have rented. Thank you, Robin!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Helge and family, Thank you so much for the great review. We are so glad you enjoyed your time at our home. We hope you had some great Christmas memories to take home with you. When we have guest on Holidays I try to make the home feel festive. You'll need to come again when you can enjoy the pool and BBQ it is a great place to enjoy the outdoors. Robin does her very best to make our guest feel welcomed. Thank you again for the lovely comments about our home. Hope you can come again. Gary and Mary owners.

We (three families with kids) stayed in the above location during New Year 2013 weekend. The house is at beautiful location on the top of hill with good view of the valley and river.. I have to tell one thing that the house is kids friendly having lot of toys, books.. Robin is very friendly and we got lot of information from her for our stay and trip to Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park ahead of time. The house is well maintained, clean and perfect and we got the homemade cookies which were excellent and thanks for Robin. Our stay was memorable and we had perfect New Year celebration 2013 in this nice location. I would love to go back again if i get a chance and would suggest to anyone and everyone for this location.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Robin and her crew do a great job at keeping our home clean and spotless. We hope you can come again and stay longer and enjoy the Sequoia Park and the many things it has to offer. Glad you enjoyed the cookies that's the one thing that I get to do for our guest and I enjoy doing it. Thanks again for staying at Sequoia Alta Vista. Gary and Mary owners.

This Hilltop Home is the most beautiful vacation spot we have ever stayed in. Not only is the view like something out of Johanna Spyri's "Heidi", complete with Grandfather's House halfway up the mountain accross the valley, the house itself is picture perfect. It is immaculately clean, filled with all the little touches of home. All we needed to bring was dinner fixin's and our clothes. Just walking in the front door made me feel like I had come to stay with a friend...at home. There was even a photo album on the coffee table with places to visit and things to do while staying in Three Rivers. And because it is the Christmas Season, there was a tree with all the trimmings. We would definitely love to stay here again. And we have been telling all our friends about it. For a totally carefree, relaxing, pampered vacation, this is the place to stay. Maybe for Jazz Affaire in the Spring? A fun filled weekend of Dixieland Jazz with bands playing all around town at different venues.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Jackie and Family, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at our home in Three Rivers. We really feel blessed to have this home and to have a chance to share it with others. We try our best to make it feel homey. When it is holidays I love to make it feel festive. And I understand the Christmas program went well. Gald to here you had a good time and thank you so much for the nice card you sent. Was very thoughtful of you. Thanks again for the nice review. Gary and Mary (owners)

The images on this website are not enough describe just how Amazing this vacation home is. To be frankly honest, words can't describe the soothing atmosphere that the house and surrounding lanscapes form. My family and I had the most memorable Thanksgiving ever, this house reanimated our family in a way that we have not experienced in some time. We will definitely be making a return visit to this vacation home and hopefully re-live the memorable moments.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

Having spent the first week of our vacation with family in Orange County, exploring Los Angeles and San Diego, we were looking for a complete break from it all for our second week, away from the stresses and strains of everyday life. Sequoia Alta Vista delivers everything we needed in spades. The house is exceptionally well equipped with everything you could ever want or need, and is superbly maintained and spotlessly clean. We collected some provisions in Visalia on our way, and could happily have stayed in the house for a full week - you really need nothing else. And the views... The photographs simply do not do justice to the 360 degree vistas from the house, every window providing a picture painting of the Sequoia National Park, Kings Canyon and Lake Kaweah. Even in late October / early November the veranda is an idyllic place to sit and enjoy a leisurely breakfast, watching the sun rise over the valley and planning the day ahead - or simply deciding to stay there all day, relax, read a book, and enjoy the sun. In the evening, the table by the front door is the perfect place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sun set over the opposite horizon. That said, you don't come to Three Rivers to simply sit and enjoy the view, however tempting that may be, and the house provides a perfect base for exploring the Sequoia National Park. We spent three days walking in the park visiting some of the major landmarks (General Sherman Tree, Moro Rock etc.), and also exploring some of the longer trails, and found it really easy to spend an entire day away from everything and never meeting another human being. Other areas worthy of a visit include the Post Office at Kaweah, Reimers Ice-Cream parlour, and in the other direction the town of Exeter and its amazing murals. Finally, any review would not be complete without a mention of Robin. From our initial contact about our booking, through a welcome note and home-made cookies, to a loaf of freshly baked bread and discreet calls to check that everything was OK, Robin really went out of her way to ensure that we wanted for absolutely nothing, and that our holiday exceeded all our expectations. We would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the property wholeheartedly, and look forward to the opportunity to come back some time in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Mark and Sally-Anne, Thank you so much for your great review. We try our best to keep the house in exceptional condition and equipped with most of the everyday needs. Most of that is due to Robin and her ladies they work very hard at keeping the house spotless. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed all the beautiful views out of the house. That is something that my husband and I have always enjoyed, the house has such a relaxed and comforting feel to it. And you can't beat the sunrises and sunsets , and when there is a full moon over the mountains it is so unreal. Sounds like you had a great time in the park. The view from Moro Rock is really something to see. Glad to hear that you ventured out to the small quaint little town of Exeter. The murals on the town walls are beautiful. One of Three Rivers local artist was one of the artist selected to do one of the murals, and she did a beautiful job. Glad you enjoyed the cookies and home made bread. We are very fortunate to have Robin as our manager she does a great job. We hope that maybe someday you will get the chance to come back again and stay awhile longer. Thank you again for the great review. Mary and Gary owners.

We were a party of 4 adults visiting from the Gold Coast, Australia. Once we arrived at the house, we could not be more delighted. This is a very clean, well maintained and luxurious property. Just perfect for relaxing at the end of a strenuous day of hiking around Sequioa National Park. The property is well located at the doorstep to the park with handy access to groceries and petrol. The views outside the property itself are outstanding and we were lucky enough to get up early and enjoy watching the sunrise while having breakfast. We have stayed at several properties using VRBO and I must say that dealing with an excellent property manager like Robin makes all the difference ! This is especially important when tou are booking from overseas. Right from the first communication, Robin ensured we were fully informed during the entire booking process as well as during the stay. She is a great resource for information about the park and the Three Rivers area and was keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay. I can definitely recommend this house for those looking to enjoy the day hikes at Sequoia and enjoy some peace and luxury at the end of he day.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Colin and friends, Thank you for the great review. I hope your holiday was a good one. Sounds like you enjoyed your time at our home in Three Rivers and the time you got to spend in Sequoia National Park. Glad to hear you enjoyed the sunrises at our home. We have some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets up there. Robin does a great job with our guests she works hard at trying to make everyone's stay relaxing and fun. Owner info
Year Purchased: 2001
About the owner: In 2001, after 36 years of full-time work in Mental Health Administration for both the public & private sectors, I retired. My wife, Mary, and I purchased our 'dream home' in Three Rivers, CA. Upon retirement, I agreed to work an additional year, on a part-time basis, to help the new director make the transition. As it turned out, other small rural county mental health programs also needed financial help and now, 10 years later I have developed a full-time mental health financial consulting business and continue providing these services. This business requires many days on the road away from home, since much of the work is north of the Sacramento area, in the Sierria gold county, and on the Hwy 395 corridor on the east side of the Sierria Nevada Mountains. Mary supported me in my work, while at the same time, raising three very active sons through childhood, the school years, and onto marriage. We now have nine grandchildren; seven girls, two boys, and another on his way in late July! For four years Mary also cared for her aging parents. Three years ago her father moved in with us and due to the need for medical care, we bought a home in Visalia and moved back. A major part of our life centers around our church family, which at this time is at Parkside Community Church in Visalia, CA. After Mary's father passed on, we decided to stay in Visalia, since all three of our sons and their familes live there. Also, since I am out of town a good share of the time, it seemed more practical for her to be close to family. In the meantime we put our 'dream home' up for sale and for two years tried to sell in the worst economic time. A year ago we leased the home and as of June 2011, at the end of the lease, decided to try the vacation rental business. This hopefully will provide us the best of both worlds by bringing cash flow and allowing us to continue to use our 'dream home' during vacancies.
Why the Owner Chose Three Rivers:
Since 1967, we have lived in Visalia, located thirty minutes from Three Rivers. We rasied our three boys there. For activities we enjoyed water skiing, fishing, tent camping, hiking, backpacking, and bicycling. Since Three Rivers and the Sierria Nevadas were literally in our backyard, we spent most of our time getting to know the great water skiing times, the best fishin' holes, and some of the most beautiful remote mountain areas, all within a half hour to an hour from home.
After church the boys & I would take off for short afternoon trips through Three Rivers to find new adventures and places where we could go later for longer times. We would often talk about finding a place in Three Rivers to live! But because of my work, it was never practical to make the move.
Nowadays, we do some of the same trips with our grand kids. Mary says she did her thing with the boys so, ' tell Grandpa to do some week-end hikes and fishing with both the grandgirls and boys without her.' They all like sleeping under the stars.
The many beautiful crystal clear creeks & rivers make for fun exploring with the grandkids for fishing and snorkling, especially in late summer and early fall. Grandpa can take a 5 minute drive to the river or lake with the grandkids, take along some cold drinks and some snacks and set the lawn chair in the cool water and watch the kids play for hours!
During the spring time and the early summer, the rivers are just as beautiful, but very fast and cold with the snow melt! So that's the time to head up into Sequoia National Park where the crowds haven't shown up yet for the summer and we have the grand park pretty much to ourselves! The giant trees, the patches of snow still lingering in the shady areas, hiking up on Morro Rock and take in the awesome views and you can almost see our house from there, since we can see that same rock from our 'dream home'.
