  Had a LOVELY stay at the house this weekend. Accommodated both groomsmen and moms of groomsmen equally well. Walked down to the Avondale brewery a few times which we absolutely loved. Highly recommend! Erik Horn

  Very comfortable, well appointed home. It was initially difficult to find even with GPS. You will definitely need a car. There is a nice park close by which was great for the walkers in the family. Located on a side street so there wasn't much traffic. Laundry facilities in the home were very useful.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

  We needed a place to stay that allowed us to bring our dog (who does not know he is a dog) while in the city to attend a funeral. The house on the tree lined street was excellent in all aspects and even has an enclosed outdoor area that we used to let our dog run free without worry. There were 4 adults and 1 child in our group staying at the house. We had more than enough room, the house was clean and well stocked, and as I said above just what we needed. I would stay here again and will recommend this house to otheres

  I stayed in this house with my mother-in-law and 2-year-old son while my husband was in the hospital at UAB. It was an easy 10-15 minute drive to the hospital and it was also accessible for my husband when he got out of the hospital. It's not wheelchair accessible due to the steps leading to the front door, but it was manageable for my husband who had broken his leg and hip in a motor vehicle accident. As another reviewer mentioned, the beds were very comfortable and the house was very clean and well maintained. The playground and library less than a block away were wonderful for our son and the property manager was great to work with and made things easy for us at a very stressful time in our lives. I would definitely stay here again if I were in Birmingham.

  A very affordable alternative for a large family or more than one family stay in Birmingham. The house was very clean, well-decorated, and in a friendly, attractive neighborhood. Easy access to downtown. Fenced back yard for pets. The half bath and laundry are located in the basement. They are accessible from within the house only by a steep, narrow staircase or from the back yard through a sliding door.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway.

• An Avondale Gem!

  My wife and I had an extended stay in Birmingham last summer and this place was a wonderful find. The house has lots of space with a nicely designed kitchen and dining room. THe patio and small side deck were great, too, and the classic house sits on a pastoral tree lined street, an absurdly short walk to the refurbished Avondale Park, and only slightly further to Saw's Soul Kitchen and the Avondale Brewery, both worth a visit if you have foodies in your crowd. Some of the beer at the brewery is quite good, and I have yet to sample anything at Saw's that was not hitting the mark. When we visited there were free evening jazz concerts in the park, and the music was excellent, as long as you can handle the summer warmth of the Ham. The fellow handling the property does a fine job, as well. All in all, beats the stew out of a hotel.

Avondale Park, Avondale Brewery and Saws Soul Kitchen are musts for anyone. They all make this neighborhood even more of a gem! Sitting on the side terrace and hearing the music from the park drifting through the trees always kept me cool during the summer heat and I am so happy you were able to enjoy it as well!

  I stayed at this property with my Dad and brother while we were down on a boys golf tour and it worked out great. The property is on a very nice quiet street and not too far a drive from downtown Birmingham. The golf courses were a short drive away but not too bad. The house was very well kept and IMO better than the photos. I had never been to Birmingham and the owner was very helpful in answering all of my questions. When I go back to Birmingham I will be staying here again. As an aside, Ross Bridge is a must for golphers, great track.

  This is a very nice home in a very nice neighborhood. There is a park close by to take the dogs for a walk and the kids to play. We enjoyed the accommodations, nicely appointed decorations, and very comfortable beds. Our pups enjoyed the nice fenced in backyard. We highly recommend this home if you need a place to stay in Birmingham.

  We came down for a wedding and the Ole Miss bowl game. This home was in a nice quiet location and gave my wife and I and college children lots of space to enjoy between all the events. Thank you for such and easy stay. I highly recommend it

  Located near UAB medical center, Avondale Park and Highlands Golf Course this charming, recently remodeled cottage is a delight. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood and lunch at nearby V Richards. We'll be staying here during future visits. Why would anyone stay in a hotel? Thanks again. VRBO rocks
