My 3 year old son, husband and myself stayed here for 5 days and truly enjoyed ourselves. We loved visiting the horses daily, being so close to Santa Ynez as well as other towns in the valley, exploring those other towns, hiking to the waterfall and overall taking in the area. The house itself is everything you could want and more - comfortable furniture, spacious living, fully equipped and large kitchen which was very important to me, great natural light and just a wonderful place to come back to. We loved it. We miss Missy, Champ and Mo! Please hug them for me. Thanks Again Marcia for a wonderful stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: We really had a great time with you here. Talk about genuine!! I had such a blast with your 3 yr old son on the John Deere and then my pony!! What a super nice family you've got. We really look forward to you coming again!! A real pleasure.

One of the best homes we've visited. Large well-equipped kitchen, comfortable livingroom, great beds and sheets and TWO bathrooms. Wonderful centrally located amid horse ranches, historicaly towns and dozens of outstanding wineries. Will definitedly return someday. Only things missing were the carrots for the horses and pony just outside your doors.Owner response: Ah yes......the missing carrots. The horses would love it if I didn't forget those!!! Come again!!!

Lovely, quiet place with plenty of room for four adults. Large well-equipped kitchen. Comfortable livingroom. Great beds and two bathrooms. Clean and welcoming. Only things missing were the carrots for the horses and pony. Will definitely return.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: We're so glad you enjoyed our place. It is such a wonderful place to R & R!! We have taken several vacations of our own.....right here in the guest house!!! Just to see what it's like and it's awesome if we don't say so ourselves. We would love to have you return to enjoy once again!! And next time remind me to find some carrots for those furry 4 legged begging neighbors!!!

Our family of 3 adults and 3 dogs had a FABULOUS, FABULOUS time at the ranch house. It was spotless clean, had everything we needed for our week's stay, was bright, spacious, and such an easy home to enjoy family time. Marcia and Brian were wonderful, warm hosts, and we appreciated being able to walk their property every day to see what a working horse ranch is really like. It was such a great feeling to see & be greeted by the horses everyday. We have stayed at many VRBO properties but this has been our FAVORITE ... just love it and would highly recommend it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: We have had the most amazing guests continuously since we began 18months ago!! Your family hands down has the record for being the cleanest neatest group we have ever come across and you had 3 dogs!! We didn't even know you had been there after you left. We were amazed and we certainly appreciate how much you did to keep a name good for traveling pet owners!!! We really look forward to a return visit!!! What a friendly bunch!! Fabulous!!! Many thanks!!! Marcia & Brian Nelson, Owners

We had a wonderful weekend at the Country Ranch House - a charming little cottage on a beautiful ranch! It was perfect for two couples - the layout of the house was great. It had a very spacious and well stocked kitchen, the beds were SO comfortable and it was VERY clean. We LOVE horses and could watch them eat their breakfast in the morning while we sipped our coffee in the living room! I highly recommend this property.Owner response: Thank you so much for spending your time away up here at our Ranch House. The horses love to poke their noses over and say hi to our guests!! We look forward to more visits from you!! Marcia & Brian

Located conveniently close to Los Olivos, Santa Ynez and Solvang, this charming guest house is both beautiful and restful. We especially enjoyed the atmosphere of the horse ranch and so enjoyed the peace and tranquility it offered us. As you may have read, the cottage is owned by an architect and everything is so beautifully decorated. Thank you for marking our stay so enjoyable!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: We were very happy to have your whole family come up for some needed rest!! What a fun time we all had!!

Upon stepping into the Country Ranch House's charming interior, peering through the windows of each room and then walking around the outside of the house, a feeling came over me like I had died and gone to heaven! The house itself is decorated with such meticulous thought and supplied with everything anyone could possibly need to dine in if so desired. The Country Ranch House more than met my expectations Big Time. After unpacking, my husband John gestured to me to look out the window to the right of the easy chair I was relaxing in. There was a beautiful chestnut-colored horse hanging his head right over the fence just a few yards away. What an amazing sight for me! My husband and I enjoy sitting outside in the evening on our El Dorado Hills patio which is backed by a large oak-filled greenbelt; but the Ranch House was a truly incredible change of pace for us. Our stay at the Country Ranch House was super enjoyable. There was so much we wanted to see and do within a 10 mile radius that there was no way we could have possibly squeezed it all in this time around. Looks like we'll just have to come back next year and "hang out" for TWO weeks at one of Horseman's Hangout's two lovely vacation rentals! Thanks again, Marcia & Brian, for everything. Jean V. Owner response: Wow, just noticed I never responded to your fabulous review. And now you're contemplating coming again next summer!! We look forward to your return visit. We loved meeting you two and keeping in touch ever since through FaceBook. Your cute little dog was a joy to meet. You all have a marvelous connection! Marcia & Brian

About the owner: Brian is an Architect that specializes in Christian based Alcohol & Drug Rehab Centers all around the United States. Marcia is the horse specialist and coaches and trains people and their horses. Marcia works with all ages, but especially loves to work with children. Marcia also specializes in rescuing and rehabbing horses and putting them back into full service with their people. We participate and volunteer in The Ranch Church here in the Valley, a great place to visit if you're here over a Sunday. A casual upbeat Calvary Chapel Church with great worship music. This is a family business with our two adult sons Dan and Jeremy helping and participating in bldg, constr and upkeep of our 10 acre property. We have 2 grandchildren Noah 8 and Becca 19yrs that help too. Becca is our photographer! We have a couple of friendly dogs; MacKenzie and Cowboy. We look forward to meeting you when you check in. You will love our area and our home away from home all prepared for YOU!
Why the Owner Chose Santa Ynez:
We love the area, the people, the shops and restaurants etc. Our favorite restaurant is The Los Olivos Cafe; our favorite shop is Back At The Ranch in SY.
There are many, many places to visit and see. Serious bike riders LOVE this area. There are so many places to train. Horse people LOVE this area. There are several guided trail ride operations in the area with nice trails. If you bring your own horse there are trails nearby where you can ride in the mountains and by Cachuma Lake. Marcia can schedule horse lessons but we do not have horses to rent and we do not offer guided trail rides.
If you just want to get some R & R, The Country Ranch House is nice enough to just stay and enjoy with the amenities it provides. You will go home refreshed and ready to face the world once again!
We have many celebrations here. A Day in the Country, Danish Days, Santa Ynez Valley Days and more. We have parades for every holiday in various of the towns here. We have music festivals and music & movies in the park in downtown Solvang.
The visitors bureau will help us to collect all the dates of all that happens here.
And of course Wine Tasting has become a very BIG draw here. Wineries galore. We have begun a fun wine exchange program. Buy your favorite wine and leave a bottle with a message on the bottle, take a bottle another guest has left for your fun.
Take one, Leave one...a great exchange idea!!
