Duxbury house description
Million-dollar property with best water view on the South Shore in one of the most beautiful, historic, non-touristy town in Massachusetts - house is a few hundred yards from where Pilgrim Miles Standish lived and a few miles from the museum of the house where fellow Pilgrims John and Priscilla Alden lived. House sits high above Duxbury Bay, with views of tidal bay with Clark's Island on the horizon straight ahead and Plymouth Harbor to the right. One-plus acre lot with winding driveway to simple ranch-style, two story-house. Entering living room at high tide, one has the sense of being on a yacht - water everywhere as one looks out array of windows.
Breathtaking sunrise, sunset over water. Visitors are simply awed by the view from outdoors as well as within, as well as by feeling of complete privacy.
Mahogany patio overlooks water, stone steps down to sandy private bay beach. House maximizes view with floor-to-ceiling windows in 20x20 living room with sectional sofa and chairs. Sea/computer room has wall-to-wall windows with water view, as does adjoining bedroom with small bath and king-sized bed.
Also upstairs - ground level as you enter from driveway, is dining room with oval mahogany table separated by bar with three bar stools from small kitchen with all amenities.
Downstairs is second living room with chairs and water view, loveseat, stereo system, small bedroom with bed for one and half-bath/laundry and larger bedroom with full bath, twin beds and water view.
Two mile drive to ocean beach.

About the owner: I am a writer and am inspired by the quiet and beauty of the house/view and the town. My Golden is in seventh heaven there, racing down to the beach when it suits her.
Why the Owner Chose Duxbury:
My family has been going to Duxbury since the 1960s, it reminds us of our hometown of Bedford, N.Y. with water.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Miles Standish State Park is a half-mile away. Never cease to be amazed at how quiet, private is the beach below our property. Fabulous bakery five minutes away.
