The property is everything it is described to be, clean and well equipped. What can't be described is the tranquility that encases the area. The views are fantastic, and enhanced by the occasional passage of the Fulford Ferry or a yacht or two out for a sail. This is the type of place where you just want to sit back on the deck with a good book, your favoutite refreshment and relax. Remember at all times to keep the binoculars and the camera handy.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you so much for the kind review. We are glad that you enjoyed the island as much as we do.

A few of my collegues and I recently stayed at Juniper Cottage for a work retreat. Upon arrival we were delighted by our beautiful accomadations. I've stayed in a number of Vacation rentals while travelling and this one was by far the best appointed one that I've experienced. The owners have thought of absolutely everything you might need or want. From every type of dish or utencils you'd ever need to keep yourself busy in the gorgeous kitchen. To the cupboards and closets filled with linens, board games, slippers, DVD's, books and magazines. We ventured out of our ultra deluxe digs to walk along the beach across the street, enjoy the Salt Spring Island Cheese Company, The Salt Spring Island Vineyards and Garry Oaks Wineries. Browsed the Saturday Market and enjoyed a great lunch at The Tree House Cafe in Ganges. However, our highlight was most definetly waking up and heading out onto the deck to take in the stunning sight of the sun rising over the water. Absolutely beautiful cottage. Highly reccomended. We didn't want to leave.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

Juniper Cottage was exactly what we wanted. Fantastic kitchen, lots of bedrooms, deck and a view. To make it even better would be a hot tub, but you can't have it all. :-) We loved the loft and the decor of the place, my kind of style. When we head back to Salt Spring we will book Juniper Cottage again and we can't wait! Thanks John!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Melanie, thanks for the nice feedback. I am glad you enjoyed your girls weekend. You have given us something to think about with the Hit Tub. We look forward to welcoming you again.

This place was perfect for our little family. Although the pictures in the listing were good, seeing the actual cottage was stunning and had such a comfy feeling as soon as you walk in the door. I loved the open layout, we were always able to see exactly where our 2 yr old was. The grounds keeper, Sue, welcomed us warmly, chopped firewood for us and was very helpful answering any questions we had. Not mentioned in the add is the basement with the foosball table and ping pong table and the bunk beds. Perfect for older kids. For the younger ones they have plenty of toys and games. No need to bring anything from home. Even little kid bikes in the garage! The kitchen was stocked with everything you will ever need and more. The loft has a huge skylight right above the bed. The add says sleeps 4 to 6 but with the loft, pull out sofa and bunkbeds downstairs you can easily comfortably fit a lot more. Because of the layout my husband and I could also come here alone and not feel like the place was too big. In fact I'll be sending my retired parents there in the near future. Oh, and at night... silent!!! Our son slept for 12 hours without making a sound (not the norm for him) which made us very very happy. We are looking forward to our next stay!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Jacqueline, thank you very much for the nice feedback. I am glad that your family had a nice stay at the cottage. We look forward to welcoming you again.

My girlfriend and I, plus another couple stayed a few nights at this gorgeous cottage near the ocean. It's well situated on the south end of the island near the ferry terminal (about 5 minutes away). The kitchen was perfect for cooking, the living room (with wood burning fireplace) for relaxing—and there was tons of space for all of us to spread out without feeling cramped in the slightest. We could have easily had another couple with us. We also enjoyed the fact there was a foosball and ping ping table downstairs. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to check out Salt Spring!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

Our family spent a wonderful weekend away on Salt Spring Island over Canada Day this year. What an absolutely perfect place to escape to. Salt Spring itself is so idyllic. We enjoyed the Saturday market with it's local food and art, relaxed to music on the vineyard at the Salt Spring Island Winery, sampled the delicious cheeses at the Salt Spring Cheese Co., and hiked at the top of Mount Maxwell with it's stunning views of the surrounding islands. You can do as little or as much as you would like on this island. My husband was able to watch the final of the Euro Cup at the local Oyster Bar on the marina while I took in a yoga class. Aside from all the activities that are available on the island, it really is not necessary to leave this beautiful property. This "cottage" is truly a home away from home. A sanctuary. We enjoyed fresh crab, local food and wine out on the deck and our children played for hours without a worry. The home is located on a quiet dead end street, placed high enough above the water to allow unobstructed views of the ocean and the sailboats that are invariably parked at Russell Island, and close enough that the beach can be easily accessed by walking down a short trail. The home itself is without question first class. It has been completely renovated, tastefully, and in keeping with the heritage of the home and the character of the island. Everything that we needed was available to us. We couldn't have asked for more. We will definitely return to this beautiful Salt Spring Island home....soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

The location of the property was accurately described, though the street signs on the rural roads are difficult to read when driving south, and we missed a turn-off on our first attempt! The rental property is undergoing renovations, so virtually all the interior was quite different from the photographs we had originally seen. It will be superb when finished. The place was spotlessly clean, and both the owner and the local care-taker were extremely helpful. We would definitely recommend it to others, and hope to be able to pay a repeat visit sometime. We had dinner in on each evening of our stay, but enjoyed excellent lunches at the Tree House Caf'é, the Golf Club, and Calvin's, all in Ganges. Local attractions we visited included the shops and galleries in Ganges, as well as visits to some of the waterfront parks. A drive up to the look-out on Mount Maxwell was especially impressive, and we had a clear, dry day for it. We are looking forward to our next visit.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We had a lovely week staying in this charming cottage for a week during August. The weather was beautiful which added to the enjoyment of the spectacular view which is one of the best features of this house. You can see the ocean, small islands, sailing boats and ferries from almost every room. The house has everything you need and the surroundings are so peaceful. We found that we breakfasted on the balcony in the sun and then had dinner on the outside patio (usually a BBQ). There’s a gas heater so you can sit outside even after the sun goes down and enjoy the view. The kids loved playing the garden, the ping pong table, crab hunting on the pebbly beach and the visit from the deer in the mornings. Around Salt Spring we swam in a couple of the fresh water lakes, visited Vesuvius beach and the goats cheese factory (the goats cheese ice cream is excellent). Fulford Harbour ( a couple of miles away) has a great restaurant (Rock Salt) and Ganges has a farmers market on Saturdays. We would love to go back again.Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Just spent a long weeked in this fantastic cottage with my wife and daughter who is a bit over two years old. The place is clean, functional and much better equiped than most places we have stayed in and has many nices added features that greatly entertained our daughter (toys, books, games ...) . The house is very kid friendly and the nearby rocky beach is fun to explore. Other great attractions a short car drive away are a kids park, Fulford Harbour, Ruckle Park and the nice sandy fresh water beach at Stowell Lake are all great activities, especially if you like seeing deer, which on our last day munched on grass just outside the cottage. We will defenitley consider going again and bringing the inlaws too ince there is lots of room. The views are stunning and hanging out during nap time was thouroughly relaxing.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
