We booked this house to stay at during our wedding downtown. We had a lot of people (including us) who were from out of town. I stayed here with my wedding party and their husbands. It is 2 different levels, which makes it great for large groups who don't need to spend 24/7 together. In addition we were able to get ready there the day of the wedding and there was plenty of space. The bedrooms are all really terrific so no one felt cheated with their room. It was extremely well maintained and comfortable, which is tough to do both! We had coffee on the deck every morning which was terrific. It is located in a really beautiful area and is super close to everything you would want/need. The owner was super responsive and really nice. I would absolutely stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We had a delightful stay at 168 Tradd! The home is not only magnificent on the exterior, it is furnished beautifully with original art displayed throughout, and has a personal, homey feel. I was worried that the guys would not leave the house when they saw the projector TV in the media room! The perfect location on Tradd Street allows those of us who aren't fortunate to be "bona-fide Charlestonians" to pretend to be! This home is a crown jewel, and the owner was extremely pleasant and easy to work with. It was a perfect stay for our family, and we will definitely rent again in the future.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We rented this house for a week. Our stay was great, we absolutely loved the house! The house was clean and all the rooms were so nice. We especially loved the media room downstairs, and the rooftop deck. Everything was so convenient, as downtown is within a short walking distance where there are streets full of restaurants, shops, bakeries, ice cream shops, bike rental shops, historic places, tours, etc. We would definitely recommend that if you have the chance, to stay in this house. It is perfect for families. We are going to miss staying in Charleston!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

This house was very nice and exceeded my expectation. It was great lay out for our family. The kids and teens stayed downstairs and loved the media room. We all watched the Basketball playoffs together on the big screen. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms were amazing. This house has a very cozy and warm feel to it, we were able to relax and enjoy our time together as a family. Thanks so much for letting us stay in your house Sonya, we loved it and would definitely stay there again!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We had a wonderful time. With 7 ladies we were very comfortable. I would highly recommend this property to anyone traveling to the Charleston area. It is within walking distance to the downtown area, and cabs are plentiful, so if you don't want to walk, call a cab. The beds and linens were wonderful. We enjoyed the outside patio immensely! Everything was very clean and beautiful. The kitchen has everything that you could possibly need.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We rented this house for a long weekend. The owners were prompt with their emails, the property very nice and well maintained with plenty of space for 8 people, and most things within walking distance of the house. The one thing the owners should include for the price is WiFi, but besides that everything was perfect.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Hi Christophe! Thank you for writing the nice review. The house does have wi-fi! We added it back in June. So sorry that you did not know this. Sonya

This was our first experience with VRBO, and what a wonderful experience it was. The home is a gem. Eight us fit into the house without stumbling over each other. Hearing the clip-clopping of horse hooves was a joy. The owner gave us great suggestions about places to go and things to do. If you are interested in the Gullah-Geechee culture, go to Boone Hall or attend Praise House at the Circular Congregational Church. These events give you an idea of the origin of the African-American culture in the South and the survival of the culture. We can't wait to return.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

Very impressive! Owner answered all questions quickly. We can't wait to return. Our party of four just finished a long weekend at this gem in the heart of Charleston's historic district, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The home is centrally located, just a short walk from shopping, dining, and key historic spots, yet blissfully cloistered on a quiet, shaded street amongst some of Charleston's finest historic homes. While the pictures available on the site are attractive and appealing, they really don't begin to show this home's true character. Once inside, we found an amazingly comfortable, upscale refuge, well-furnished, and full of modern conveniences for the discerning traveler. The master suite is fabulous. With its stunning master bath, massive king bed, and top of the line home theatre, we were tempted to stay in and never leave. Our companions were equally comfortable in the two downstairs bedrooms, which afford great privacy from the rest of the house, while the downstairs bath rivaled that of the master. Ceiling fans are generously scattered everywhere throughout the home, adding to the bilevel central ac to beat back Charleston's sweltering summer heat. The well-equipped kitchen is filled with top of the line appliances, and well-appointed with most everything you might need. The adjacent living room is spacious and comfortable, with upcale furnishings and a huge, flat panel tv with digital cable and home theatre. The media room downstairs was a favorite of our group, with its projector television, comfortable seating, and home theatre surround system.... it was truly a mini theatre, perfect for an evening's entertainment. The rooftop deck was an oasis, an outdoor livng room with cool breezes, a market umbrella for shade on sunny days, and extensive seating for family and friends on balmy Charleston evenings. Those who need their daily dose of technology will find cable and secure wifi throughout the property, so your laptops, ipads, and mobile devices are well-supported. Our hosts were charming and helpful, and available when needed. We highly recommend this home and will return often. Highlights of our trip? Shopping on nearby King St., dinner at Poogan's Porch and Amen St. (two of our favorites among a host of others), the planet's freshest and most flavorful oysters at Pearlz, BBQ at Jim & Nick's on King St., nightlife on East Bay St. and adjacent Market St., walks on the waterfront and historic neighborhoods nearby. Snap up this gem whenever it's available.... Just leave a few days for us!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: Ryan and I were married in 2011. Each having homes, we decided instead of selling the Tradd Street location, we would try VRBO so that customers could enjoy it as much as our 2 families do. The house is truly a unique property because it is one of the only South of Broad Homes that has a rooftop where both the West Ashley and the Arthur Ravenel Bridges can be viewed in the distance.
Why the Owner Chose Charleston:
We are 2 blocks from the Battery and within walking distance to the shopping district on Queen Street.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The house includes flatscreen TVs in 3 bedrooms, the Upstairs Den, and the Downstairs Media Room. The Rooftop Deck is very private and relaxing for sunbathers or book readers. The sounds of the horse hoofs walking down the street is one of the most unique and special sounds on our quiet street.
