We rented the house for Easter weekend & it was the perfect little get away. The house is literally 5 mins walk from a great & very popular cafe for breakfast or lunch, as well as a restaurant for dinner. The nearest shopping town, Kilmarnock, is just 10 mins drive & has some great boutique shops & restaurants. We were a group of 4, all in our 20s & between the shops, the golf courses & the restaurants we had a fantastic time!! A great getaway weekend. I have to recommend the Car Wash Cafe- a very unique experience & fantastic breakfasts!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Recently, we spent a weekend at the Little Blue House in Irvington., VA. We were attending a wedding at the Tides Inn. The rental was perfect for us. It is a short walk to both the Tides Inn and downtown Irvington. The house is small, but very cute. Two couples, or a small family fit nicely. The hosts, although not local, were very assessable and helpful. We recommend a stay here.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend in Irvington when we attended the Waterfowl Festival. We needed a place to stay for 2 nights and the Blue House was perfect. The house was cozy and very charming, we loved the way it was decorated and found it to be very comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet and we were very close to all the places we wanted to visit! The listing description was very accurate, the house was clean and the owner very helpful. We would recommend this home to anyone who was in need of a place to stay in the area. Perfect for a getaway for two! We would love to go back in the future!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Wonderful home with everything we needed for a lovely weekend. We attended a wedding at the Tides Inn, and were able to walk to the ceremony. The house was a great place to stay, without all the hassle and noise of a hotel. The brick patio was a huge bonus as well. Stay here, you won't regret it. -- posted by owner from Airbnb review.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Having stayed at numerous VRBO locations, I can truly say this was above and beyond our expectations. The entire house was in perfect order and all of the accomodations were "better than advertised".We have stayed at the Tides Inn in the past, but we will be staying at the Blue House on all our future visits to Irvington. The photos and descriptions in the listing barely scratch the surface...the place was immaculate and easy to locate. Laura was delightful to work with and very accomodating when we needed to adjust our dates due to unforeseen medical needs. What a relaxing getaway. Dinner at Hope and Glory was yummy and lunch at the Local should not be missed. I highly recommend the Blue House.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Love it! Love it! Love it! My girlfriend and I were looking for the perfect place to enjoy peace and quiet, and we found it here. From the moment we pulled up in the driveway, the house looked like a home out of Town and Country magazine. And more so, our two pups felt right at home! From our walks in the neighborhood to the enjoying the fabulous stores in town, we couldnt have picked a more wonderful place to spend our vacation.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I needed some solitude and this charming cottage in this lovely location was just right. An older home outfitted with just right amenities was easy to settle in to and cozy for reading, writing and thinking. The owners were responsive and helpful, recommending food, fun and relaxation ideas. The Tides Inn Spa and Irivngton's Steamboat Museum both a block away got me out of the cottage and my morning walks or bicycles to get coffee at the local independent coffee/news/gathering hole was just what I needed to get the day started. The weekdays were slow and easy with Fridays into the weekends filling the village up with folks.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

My brother in law and me and our wives spent a long weekend and found this home to be exremely accommodating. Furnished very nice and had everthing we needed for a comfortable stay. After boating most of the day, we would come back here and enjoy an evening of lounging around. In the mornings, even though it was horribly hot during our stay, we would sit out back and have our coffee and mimosas. A great central location for walking most anywhere in Irvington. We'll be back.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.
