If you're looking for a scenic getaway that offers unrivaled privacy with a spacious ranch home that is steeped in history, you can't go wrong with this destination. The drive to the Hacienda is relaxing and scenic; with nearby small towns to visit and explore. The ranch home is well kept and the owners are a pleasure to work with. We went looking for a nice break from the city and to do some hiking in the fresh air (and potentially find future fly fishing waters). We left with the memories of a great vacation, a vista that will leave a lasting impression, and a destination we plan to take the family to visit again in the near future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Lance, We truly appreciate your kind words, and your loyalty. We hope to see you again soon!

We took an adult trip last week and stayed at this beautiful ranch home. It is very roomy and well kept. There were only 5 of us and I must say that there is plenty of room for more. We were so pleased with the home we are now planning a summer trip this year so that we can take the kids. The view to the river and mountains are just wonderful. We did do mostly all of our cooking and had everything we needed there at the house including the grill outside!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your nice comments, Shonda! We enjoyed having you, and we're looking forward to your next trip! Please let us know if there's anything we can do to help you plan.

It was very nice to have all the room and its location was key for hitting up all three of the largest ski resorts in NM. There was 6 of us and plenty of spare room. I would recommend this place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thanks for staying with us, Jeremiah! We enjoyed having you, and we're looking forward to your next trip. Please let us know if there's anything we can do to make our place better for skiers/snowboarders! We'd love to have you guys back!

We rented this home which has a long history as being one of the largest family owned working ranches . Located on the Holy Waters on the Cimarron. My husband who is a charter member of the Solitary Anglers club has access to fly fishing on some of the best pristine waters, the Holy waters of the Cimarron being one of them. I had the best time having much needed R&R while he fished. My views were looking out of the large picture window in the living room and the large Atrium between bedrooms ,you can see wild life all around and the calming view of the Cimarron Holy water. I took long quite walks with no one around, can't beat that. When I did not cook we went to Eagle Nest to eat at Legends Grill only 15 miles away . We went to Angle Fire , Red River for great music, Taos with its galleries, excellent food like Orlando's best Mexican food ever ,all within a reasonable distance no more then 40 minuets away and what views ! We also drove the enchanted circle tour. Awesome !!! ,that is a must to do when you stay here. The house its self was a well equipped for cooking and much more, such as a hot tub off the master bedroom over looking the river. It was very clean and tidy. The manager came by our 1st day to see if all was well and gave use information to places and things to do while we were there. I will be returning to have a family reunion this summer. There is more then enough room with space for everyone. I highly recommend this home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the nice review. We are very proud of the Hacienda on the Holy Waters. It's, without a doubt, one the most unique properties in northern New Mexico. No other place that I know of is surrounded by two state parks and the largest "State Wildlife Area" and the best brown trout stream in the state running through the middle of it all. I am glad that you enjoyed it as much as we do and that you took the time to take it all in. We look forward to having you back soon. Hopefully, we will have our new bathroom in the west wing completed by then. Thanks again Rose!

We really enjoyed our stay in this home!! When we pulled up, the boys ran to the river and came back shouting that they could see the fish swimming in the river. We could not have asked for a more scenic location:) We skied at Angel Fire, which was an easy ten minute drive to the resort, and also went to Red River one day. At the end of the day, the hot tub was a wonderful treat!! There were plenty of beds for the ten of us that stayed (although perhaps one more bathroom would have been nice - but it's doable!) There is only one TV in the house and no Wi-Fi, so plan accordingly. Overall, the home fit our needs and we would definitely return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for your review Missty. We are constantly looking for ways to make the Hacienda better. Currently we are trying to get approval to add another bathroom in the west wing to relieve the traffic in the two existing bathrooms and make it more convenient for those staying in the west wing. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to having your group stay at the Hacienda again in the future.

Our family of nine persons stayed in the house for a week over the Christmas season. The house fit our needs well with 5 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a dining room, 2 bathrooms, and an enclosed patio room they called "the atrium". The house sits on a beautiful location overlooking the Cimarron River just below the Eagle Nest Dam in Cimarron Canyon. The house was clean, with the exception of a few minor insects here and there. The washing machine only worked on one setting but the manager planned to fix that. The master bedroom is beautiful and attractive with a modern queen bed and very nice btahroom area. The house has two bathrooms. The only downstairs bathroom is small and causes some congestion for people to use. The house is newly remodeled and nicely decorated, well heated, and well maintained. The other two adjoining bedrooms are oddly arranged and a long ways from the dpownstairs bathroom. We stayed here and went skiing at Angel Fire Ski Resort and had a lot of fun. Our family enjoyed our stay and will probabaly go back.Owner response: Thanks for your review Richard. While we love aquatic insects (because we are fly fishers) and we are glad that there are massive hatches of the harmless bugs, they are a problem when they get in the house. We are going to be getting new screens for the windows that don't have them as well as screen doors to help reduce the problem of insects getting in the house.

We spent an amazing 4 nights in this beautiful house on this beautiful property. Accommodations were clean, nicely decorated, well-supplied, and well-equipped. Very comfortable beds! Beautiful hikes and quality fishing very close-by (fishing right outside the door with separate arrangements). The view from the living room picture window of the Cimarron River and mountains is incredible. Conveniences of Eagle Nest only 3 miles away, and entertainment at Red River only 20 miles away. Can’t wait to go back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for your nice review Allyson. We are doing some things to make it even better the next time you come. We look forward to having you return soon!
