We are a couple and was our first time in Venice. We stayed during the Carnivale season, which was hectic. There was so many people towards Saint Marco Square that is made it so refreshing to know that our apartment was close enough to walk yet not crowded and loud. The apartment is a special place, and if you have the money to splurge - this is a great place to relax. Nice for 2 couples or a family. There is a washing machine also which came in handy seeing as we had lots of dirty clothes from the week of travelling before. Great communication with Samantha and Michele. She sent a photo of herself so we knew who she was when we arrived - perhaps sending one of yourself may help her a little too. Great place, great location, a little expensive - but understandable. I'd recommend it and go back with friends for sure.

My wife and I checked in to this apartment after a 12 night cruise. It was the perfect place to stay for our first time to Venice. The owner was not able to meet us at the vaporetto station but her assistant was and gave us the keys and showed us how everything in the apartment worked. We were welcomed by a bottle of wine too! This place allows convenient access to the action of San Marco but gives you the escape when you’ve had enough of the crowds. The area is so quiet at night and perfect for getting a good nights sleep after a long day of sightseeing. We booked this place for the location and the great reviews it’s getting. I would highly recommend this apartment to everybody who enjoys the small neighborhood feel with close access to the sights of Venice. Thank you to the owner for allowing us to stay in your home, and to start off our Venice vacation in a relaxed way.

We absolutely loved this apartment and can't say enough good things about it or its owner Samantha. We had great communication with her before our arrival, and then a friend of hers met us at the St. Elena vaporetto stop, brought us to the apartment and showed us how everything worked (we also met Samantha later and she's great!). The apartment is large, comfortable, bright, airy, well-equipped, charming and blissfully quiet for sleeping (and you can pull the blinds and shutters to make it nice and dark if you like), in a wonderful real residential neighbourhood of Venice. We enjoyed getting groceries at the selection of nearby food stores (either just around the corner or 10 minutes by foot to via Garibaldi), eating at the Vechia Gina pizzeria, and sitting in the lovely green park facing the lagoon that is just outside the apartment. Getting to San Marco is also a breeze -- the vaporetto takes a few minutes and saves your feet if you're tired, or you can walk in about 25. The Biennale Gardens are literally a 5-minute walk away, which was perfect for us, since our primary reason for visiting was the Architecture Biennale. This apartment is an absolute gem, you can have 100% confidence in Samantha, and I plan to stay here again every time I come to Venice! It's really perfect. We were two adults, but you could also easily manage as a family with 1-2 kids (if the kids are ok with sharing a queen bed and are respectful of the apartment, which is very nicely furnished and decorated). Judging by the dog bowls in the kitchen, Samantha is probably also open to pet owners if you discuss it with her first!

My husband and I stayed in this apartment the first 3 nights of our recent 10 day trip to Italy (including Rome and Florence), but we loved it so much we wished we had planned to spent all 10 days there. We communicated with the owner several times by email before we went and she was extremely helpful, even looking up train schedules for us. The apartment was well-maintained, beautifully decorated, light and airy. The neighborhood had very few tourists, and was a short walk and shorter vaporetto ride to St. Mark's Square. We bought 72 hour vaporetto passes and were easily able to travel to all the tourists sights during the day and return to take a break in the afternoon to relax and read in the park or to sit at the cafe just outside the apartment and watch the sailboats, vaporettos, and cruise ships in the lagoon just beyond the park. It was the best part of our whole trip to Italy and we recommend this apartment highly. An added plus is that the local cafe and restaurants are excellent.

The listing is inaccurate only in that the apartment and the surrounding neighborhood are even better than described. You get off the vaporetto at Sant Elena and walk through the lovely park, passing kids at the playground, teenagers playing soccer, old people sitting and chatting on benches, then on to the building, stopping first to pick up some cheese, wine and sausage at the little corner market (also well stocked with staples and some delicious speciality items). Then you go up to your spacious, light-filled apartment and let the evening breezes waft by as you have your supper under the whimsical Murano glass chandelier. Afterwards, you drift downstairs to the corner cafe and join your congenial neighbors for a cafe, glass of wine or gelato. You go for a gentle stroll by the water before heading upstairs again to write a few postcards, telling all your friends and family that you can't believe how lucky you are to have found this place. The bed is very comfortable. In the morning, you duck around the corner for an array of fresh fruits and vegetables and whip up something yummy in the well-outfitted kitchen. The listing also doesn't tell you how hospitable your hostess is and to what extent she goes to make sure that you arrive with as little confusion as possible. We must have skyped or telephoned half a dozen times, both from the states and once we were in Italy. The apartment was spotlessly clean, the bed was made up with beautifully embroidered sheets, there was a bottle of wine waiting for us in the kichen, and we were met by our hostess's helper who explained everything we needed to know about staying there (how to run the washing machine, eg) and gave us our keys. There were also typed notes with contact numbers, local restaurant recommendations and all the information we had been given verbally. Very organized! It was so easy and quick getting to Piazza San Marco--we had 48-hour vaporetto passes which were much cheaper than buying individual tickets. And going 'home after a long day of museums, churches and general exploring was so relaxing and peaceful. The apartment is so conveniently located that we could have gone home for lunch but there was too much to see and too little time. There was only one drawback--we had such a wonderful time staying there that coming home has been a letdown. We can't wait to go back! Mille grazie, Samantha.

We loved this lovely apartment located in the quietest part of Venice. It was such a great place to enjoy after a day of sightseeing, or just to relax in the park. The apartment was located in an area easy to access the waterboat to anywhere in Venice, or we could easily walk to St. Mark's square. We hope to return the next time we are in Italy!

This is a wonderful place in a residential part of Venice, away from the hordes of tourists but only 2-3 vaporetto stop to St. Mark's. The owner is very nice to work with and met us at the stop. The place is palatial by Venice standards and beautifully decorated. I would not recommend this for people with small children b/c the furniture and glass objects are delicate. We had problem accessing the internet in the apartment but I could use it in the park that is in front of the apartment. The corner shop has good ice cream. The chain grocery store (you can walk to take the vaporetto) and the small corner food shop near the apartment are perfect. We cooked simple meals and prepared salads. Definitely get a vaporetto pass for the duration of your stay. It might be a bit expensive but it gives you the freedom to come home for mid-day rest. We visited the three nearby islands (Murano, Burano, and Torcello) with the same pass, so the pass saved us a lot of money (compared to paying single tickets). The park in front of the apartment is a great place to relax and watch the boats go by. Don't be alarmed that this apartment may not be on the central map of Venice. With a vaporetto pass it is very close to everywhere you need to be b/c Venice is small. We also used the pass to get to the apartment from the bus depot (coming from the airport) and back to train station (on our departure to Milan). We certainly would love to stay here again and have told our friends about this place.

My husband and I absolutely adored this apartment. The location was perfect being only 10 mins away on foot from major tourist attractions , yet in a quiet area of Venice very close to the Biennal Gardens Park. Shopping for groceries was no problem as the local stores are very close by within walking distance. The apartment is very spacious and airy with a wonderful décor. We found the owner to be extremely helpful and hospitable and she personally greeted us at the boat pier. The local pier was the closest one for visiting the lido Beach, which after a day of discovering the tourist attractions of Venice it was nice to get away for a little while to the beach and relax. My husband and I would highly recommend this apartment. Nicole and Claude Québec Canada

My husband and I just stayed for 3 days at this beautiful apartment. It is a great location (walk everywhere yet just into a quiet residential area). The owner is wonderful - she met us at the water bus stop out front and was perfectly hospitable. The photos don't do it justice - imagine lace bedding and elegant decor. We ended up cooking dinner in the gourmet kitchen, as it was too nice to leave without use. This is a rare gem - grab it if available, it will soon go very fast! It is worth double the price.

Traveling with our 7 month-old son, my wife and I were very concerned about going to Venice in July, when the city is swarming with tourists. The prospect of staying in a place in the overcrowded and overpriced city center did not sound very appealing. Hence, we were oriented toward canceling the trip. However, I decided to give it another chance, and started browsing the rental properties on VRBO. When I bumped onto this apartment, it looked exactly like what we needed, to save our Venice vacation. I contacted the owner, who was incredibly nice and helpful, and promptly reserved the place for 4 nights. Once we parked the car in Piazzale Roma, the point of arrival for all Venice visitors, we took one of the 3 ferries (as advised by the owner) for a 20 minute ride to the apartment's area. During this short trip we could see the huge crowd lining up to desperately catch a ferry at St. Mark's Square ferry stop, which showed us (not to our surprise) that we made the right choice by not booking a place near there! On the contrary, our stop was at a beautiful and quiet park, next to the lush gardens of the Biennale. The place was a few steps away from the park. Once we opened the door of the apartment, we couldn't believe our eyes: every single detail, from the original Venetian floors to the Murano chandeliers, was exquisitely taken care of by the owner, who obviously has a wonderful taste in decor. Needless to say, we were extremely pleased with the apartment, and spent four wonderful nights there. The owner is really helpful and accommodating. The area (St. Elena) is perhaps Venice's best-kept secret, with the adjacent Biennale Gardens, Venice's Lido and Garibaldi St. nearby (this is one of the few streets in the city where locals shop, dine and hang out). Even St. Mark's Square is quite close (15-20 min. walk, or a short ferry trip): close enough, so that you don't have to live there to visit it!!! In conclusion, we highly recommend this place. We will definitely go back! (By the way, this year's Art Biennale is spectacular, so if you intend to visit it, there is no better and closer place to stay than this).

Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

                              Why the Owner Chose Venice:
I have decided to buy this house in Venice for my spare week-ends.There is always something going on here through all the year. In summer I can go to the beaches, from June to September I can visit the famous Biennale of Art & Architecture or the Venice Film Festival, then I can see all the beautiful Museums in the city. I can do my shopping in the most famous boutiques or stop by a local market.I can relax and feel like a real venetian citizen. My two dogs and they are welcome almost everywhere either into water-boats, shops and restaurants.I have been all over the world but there is no place like Venice.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Everytime that I stop here, either in a sunny or a rainy day, the surround touches me deep inside without boring me after a while.
