My girlfriend and I spent a very memorable New Year's at Annie and Boz's cabin. They are the most gracious of hosts and the cabin is a dream. We love the commercial kitchen, where we cooked some fabulous meals, and also the terrific view out onto Kramer Meadow through the large windows. It's the perfect place to spend a quiet winter's afternoon sipping hot chocolate while enjoying the snowy views, but also a great base for winter sports like cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. We rented cross-country skis at Frazier Park north of Los Angeles and spent four wonderful days skiing from our doorstep on miles of backcountry trails. The best part is that we got to share the experience with our pooch, who happily trotted along the trails with us as we cross-country skied.

Truly wonderful place
Truly wonderful place
My wife, my friend and me were lucky to book this place for the Labor Day-weekend just one week before it. What can I say? This is a truly wonderful place and Ann and Boz are wonderful people. We enjoyed our stay and Ann pointed us to interesting places around the area. The cabin is comfortable and we did campfires every night. In evening hours it gets really dark and absolutely quiet - something we people from big towns are not used to. This is totally relaxing place and we all wanted to stay way longer than we did. We will come back definitely at a different time.

stunning and so fun!
stunning and so fun!
my husband and i were absolutely delighted with this weekend experience up in the sequoias. such a beautiful part of california and Annie's Piggly Pines, Annie and her husband Boz (and their doggies Mohawk and Highway and kitty Simba), were totally enchanting! the cabin is so comfy and situated in such a beautiful landscape...exactly what we were hoping for. There is so much to do and see up there, we look forward to going back to see it in different seasons. it was a bit too cold for us to enjoy the fire pit and bocce ball court they have right outside the cabin door...in the meadow...but wow, on a warmer night what a fun option to have. this is a seriously awesome getaway and the hosts are really very special and interesting and you'll not be disappointed to partake in what they have created up there in the forest!

Annie's Piggly Pines Vacation Rental Home
Annie's Piggly Pines Vacation Rental Home
My husband and I just spent three wonderful nights at Annie and Boz's vacation rental home "Piggly Pines" on Kramer Meadow. It was EXACTLY what we needed to rejuvenate and de-stress after our very hectic year. Having been retired only a few days when we arrived, I could tell from the minute we drove onto their property that THIS would be the place I could finally relax! The rental home is perfect, from the gourmet kitchen to the large windows that look out on the beautiful wildflower-filled meadow to the cleanliness of everything! The bed was comfortable and the house is stocked with EVERYTHING you could need in terms household and bathroom items. And let me tell you about the kitchen: Whatever you want to cook, you will find the utensil, bowl, pan, tool: you name it, Annie and Boz have it in their amazing kitchen. And best of all, Annie and Boz themselves are lovely, friendly, helpful people, yet not intrusive on your privacy. They made the experience of staying on their property very easy, and stress-free. Now, I'll comment on the area around the home. The meadow is magical, with birds and wildflowers. From the property there are hiking/horseback riding trails ALL OVER the mountain. And this is a part of the Sierras that most people don't know about. We had a mountain cabin nearby for many years, so we are familiar with the area, yet we had never discovered Annie and Boz's little piece of heaven, as it is away in its own little area. I went hiking for an hour and never saw one other person, just birds, butterflies and squirrels: LOVELY! This is the place to go if you seek, as we city-people did, peace and quiet, time to breathe in fresh mountain air and listen to the silence. Oh yes, they have TWO TV's in the rental, but we NEVER turned them on! Our goal was to commune with nature, relax and refresh in lovely quietness. And one last thing, the stars at night are amazing...not like anything we can see in the city. We recommend Annie and Boz's place highly if you are the kind of people who don't need to be around crowds of people, who enjoy cooking a meal and watching the colors change on the meadow as you sit in front of the windows and gaze onto their pristine meadow. Also, 10 miles down the road is "Land of 100 Giants", a very large grove of the most spectacular giant Sequoia redwood trees, rivaling Sequoia National Park, just without the crowds. Go early and walk among them by yourself. They are huge and they are magical.

Owner response: We want to thank Leanne and Gary for such a wonderful review and for taking the time to write it. We enjoyed having them at Piggly Pines and we are very pleased that they enjoyed themselves and thought it was a beautiful place. We wake up every morning and think how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful place. We are enjoying sharing our little piece of paradise with others and hope Leanne and Gary will return and enjoy our meadow and see it change with the different times of year.

About the owner: My husband John and myself operated Annie's Bed and Breakfast in Springville for 17 years prior to moving up the hill to Ponderosa. We both love the quiet mountains and have moved our Custom saddle shop 'Boz Saddlery' up here. Guests are welcome to watch John 'Boz' create a beautiful custom handmade saddle and also Equestrian gear. I help John in the saddle shop also. We have riding clinics and lessons available for quests with their own horses. Come up and relax and share our beautiful piece of paradise. The picture is us in costume for our artist neighbor for one of his shows. We were creatures in the snow.
Why the Owner Chose Ponderosa:
I grew up with a cabin in Camp Nelson (12 miles down from Ponderosa) and loved this area. We looked all over the north west states and found this property in our own backyard. We are 4 hours from the beach, LA and 6 hours from SF. Great spot and lots or nothing to do, you can make the choice.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We have the most beautiful redwoods 10 miles from us, fishing a couple of miles, hiking, birdwatching. If you don't have a horse of your own, there is Quaking Aspen pack station that will take you for day rides or you can pack back into the back country. Trails, trails and miles or more trails for hiking, mountain biking and in the wintertime a great place for snowmobiling, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Our area has a lot to offer and it isn't crowded.
