I was a bit hesitant to go down the vacation rental path, but this wonderful property and the professionalism of the owners has me converted! I had a short notice trip to Victoria, for just under a week and needed a location that was central and a space that was work functional. Teresa and Preston were very accomodating with check in/out, etc and the condo was a great home base for work during the day and sightseeing by foot/car afterwards. If you haven't visited Victoria before... trust that this unit is in a perfect location, and I say that as someone who was born and raised in the city. It is within walking distance of all Inner Harbour attractions (Museum, Empress Hotel, etc) while being fantastically central to the unique shopping and dining locations downtown/Chinatown. (Note: Harbour Ferries are literally at the front of the building as an alternate to walking 10 mins or so to the Museum, etc) The building itself is highly secure and the views from the condo are amazing. In the short time I was there, I had the opportunity to watch a large Hawk perched on the deck rail, hunting for lunch as well as watching Sea Otters and Seals in action on a daily basis. Note: There is also a great view of the Johnson St draw Bridge in action as large ships and barges pass through. Enjoy the current bridge while you can as the 90 year old landmark is scheduled for replacement with a modern, hi-tech equivalent in 2013.

Words cannot describe the location and comfort of this condo. We have stayed in a number of VRBO's in Victoria over the past 3 years while our own new condo is being built and this was by far the best we have had the chance to enjoy. Treat yourself to a stylish, immaculate condo with absolutely incredible views of Central Victoria, you will not be disappointed. Teresa and Preston were perfect hosts, greeting us upon our arrival and offering all sorts of new ideas and places for us to explore. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we extended our stay for some additional nights and still did not want to leave. Only one problem, we wish it was ours.

We spent a wonderful week in this beautiful, immaculate, well equipped, perfectly located condo. The knock out view surrounds you with south and west views of all the fun & interesting activity in the harbour and beyond. The private rooftop garden is an amazing space- also with outstanding wrap around views of Victoria and the harbour, and we were able to enjoy it on a number of warm fall days. This location (design district) is perfect for sightseeing, walking, biking, kayaking (rentals close by) and partaking in all the wonderful independent retail stores, restaurants and coffee shops-all within walking distance. We parked our car in the garage and rode our bikes or walked for most of our stay! The Pied-A-Terre went beyond our expectations, thanks to the owners who really have seen to every detail-thanks Teresa! We love Victoria!

The property was just as presented in the VRBO site. Great view of the inner harbour. A block from Chinatown and walking distance to all that downtown Victoria has to offer. Restaurants and shops galore. The unit itself is professionally decorated with a well equipped kitchen. There is the buzz of traffic and distant drone of sea planes-- but this is mainly when windows are open and just adds to the city center location of the unit. Perfect sized unit for a couple. Three would be a crowd.

Wow! The perfect spot to spend a weekend in Victoria. The views from inside the penthouse were amazing and then up to the private rooftop patio for morning coffee, sunset dinners. Parking the car in the underground and walking everywhere was wonderful. It couldn't have been better and I don't think you could find a better location to see downtown Victoria from. Highly, highly recommend.

I had the pleasure of 3 days at the luxuriously appointed Pied-A-Terre Penthouse and could not imagine a better place to call "home" during my stay. I awoke each morning to views of the Inner Harbor, surrounded by the happy bustle of tourism, shops, live music, eateries and even a street festival. All within ridiculously easy walking distance. After a busy day, I'd come "home" to this peaceful retreat, spark the fireplace and watch the sunset from my private balcony overlooking the water...glass of pinot noir in hand. And for that "little extra somethin' somethin' ", I took the owner's advice one evening and climbed the stairs leading up from the living room...TO THE ROOF! From this ultra-private and superb vantage point, views of the dazzlingly illuminated city below were mesmerizing...The Empress Hotel, Parliament Building and more. At the end of the evening, I'd climb down, close the hatch and fire up the intuitively-appointed kitchen to take a break from the restaurant scene, to cook a relaxed meal. Finding a more exclusive, beautiful and contemporary location - with it's stunning proximity to so much "life" around you - in the midst of Downtown Victoria - would be impossible in my opinion. That's why I intend to return again and again. Thank you, dear hosts, for this incredibly delicious little slice of heaven.

We booked the suite for 2 nights, and had a great time exploring downtown Victoria. Everything from Parliament to chinatown is in close walking distance, along with great food, and delicious microbrews at the canoe club. The rooftop deck is an fantastic place to watch the sun go down and the city lights go on over a glass or two of wine. The furniture and little details in the suite are all first class, and it's truly a pleasure to be in.

The condo was exactly as described and what the photos illustrated. It is located close to China town and other downtown Victoria attractions. There are several restaurants and shops within a few blocks of the condo. There is also a water taxi stop almost at the front steps of the building. This makes all of the harbor attractions only a water taxi ride away. We loved chilling in the condo watching the harbor boats, float planes and kayaks. We also liked walking along the streets and trails along the water. We would definitely recommend the condo to others visiting Victoria and would stay in it again.

My wife and I rented for a week recently and were pleased in all respects. Owners are very personable and provided thorough orientation to the unit and area upon our arrival. Condo located easy walking distance to main part of town but in a quiet location overlooking the harbor. Furniture is comfortable and in like new condition; unit is tastefully decorated in contemporary style. It's not huge but was big enough for our needs. Roof patio is a nice feature but unfortunately was too cool during our stay to enjoy. Buiding is close to walking path along the water and long bike trail. Gastropub style restaurant across the street has very good food and drink. We wanted to explore the environs so we rented a car & unit does include underground parking space. Highly recommend & would return.

My fiancé and I stayed in the condo just a couple weeks ago. It was perfect!! For starters, checking in and out was so easy. Any preconceived notions I may have had about the "convenience" of a hotel have been completely wiped away. This was a superbly pleasant and luxurious stay. The apartment is well decorated, but homey. The owners even left bathrobes and slippers in the bedroom closet to boot. There is a semi private rooftop accessible through a rooftop hatch. We enjoyed coffee and breakfast up there. It was beautiful and relaxing. The apartment's location is ideal. It's right in the center of where you really want to be, especially for evening entertainment. My fiancé and I rode our bikes from Sydney and there was even a bike rack in the very secure garage where we were able to comfortably store our bikes. Logistically, the weekend couldn't have gone better. The owners and e travel agency are very accomodating and made a last minute l weekend getaway as effortless and stress free as possible. I will definitely be a returning customer. :-)

My husband and I spent six days in this apartment, and our experience was wonderful in every regard. The property is beautiful and immaculate, the location was convenient to everything we wished to do, and the views of the busy waterfront were lovely. The owner met us when we arrived and gave us a thorough orientation, and all of our communication prior to our trip was prompt and helpful (thanks for the microbrew tips!). We would be perfectly happy staying here again; frankly, I'd move in if I could. :D Thank you for a wonderful experience in gorgeous Victoria. We will definitely be back.

Arriving at the Pied à Terre we immediately felt at home, it is so inviting and decorated with such excellent taste. On top of providing a superb view of the waterfront, the downtown Victoria area as well as the mountains; the numerous windows allow the sun to come in the apartment which is so welcomed and pleasant on March days. We were also happy to watch closely the process of bringing down the historic Johnson Bridge: front row seats to history in the making. Walking to the nearby sites of Victoria was an added plus; we took advantage of close by restaurants, jazz bar, market place, movie theatre and of course tea at the Empress. From the condo we took walks towards and along Dallas Street which provided us with a scenic view of the ocean. We were able to recuperate and re-energise ourselves following our long walks because of the very comfortable bedroom and bed provided. Teresa and Preston are wonderful hosts; they strive to provide the best for their clients, ensuring that we are very satisfied with the accommodation. If we were to use only one word to describe the Pied à Terre, we would say: 'DIVINE'. We are definitely recommending this place to all our friends and family members.

Excellent location but the Johnson Street Bridge is RIGHT there and its loud. The owners are very nice people. They accomodated me on short notice and were super attentive and cheerful. The layout is good, the veiws are lovely and the location is good. The building is very secure, and right next to the Canoe Cove pub. Easy to walk anywhere downtown. The security is bordering on Fort Knox secure. They could use a few items in the kitchen related to cooking with an oven, otherwise its well stocked. The suite is decorated in a subdued style, quite lovely but not always totally practical. For example the bedroom would have a great view of the harbour but the bed faces the wrong way in order to accomodate a large but very beautiful mirror. The tv blocks the view to the harbour in part of the main windows. The bed is a bit hard, the bedding too hot, and its...well, noisy. The mattress cover makes your skin stick to the sheets, its kind of uncomfortable. As we learned. Maybe a carpet in the bedroom would help. Its very clean. There is a good washer drier, and the fireplace is terrific. The buidling is actually very quiet, other than the bridge and even then, traffic slows from 11 to 5 AM. I would say four people would be very squinchy in there. But one is great and two is comfortable. It has one very small deck, one very very small European style door over looking the harbour, and a set of precipitous stairs to the roof which I think are very steep and odd, but no matter because you can walk up the main stairs from the hallway. Or elevator. The bbq up on the roof is common to all tenants. You can take photographs all day long here, the views both night and day are gorgeous.

This was our first experience with Vacation Rental By Owner and owner's Teresa and Preston set the bar high! Turned out to be a good decision compared to an over priced hotel. The apartment was sophisticated and modern. The Bed and pillows were very comfortable! Everything you could ask for and more in accommodation. This is a central location and very charming. Our seaplane ride back to Vancouver was just 1/2 hour and a short walk from the apartment. No problem recommending and would be happy to stay again.

The listing description is very accurate and the listing photos do not even do justice to being there. Impecible taste in furnishings and layout! My son and I stayed at the Pied A Terre from September 27 to October 4, 2011. The weather in October is great. We had mainly sunny days with temperatures from 12 to 16 C. We walked to the famous wharf downtown many times and the walk was pleasant and short (10 minutes). We made extensive use of the partly sheltered patio off the living room for reading, enjoying the fabulous harbour view or just watching the swift boats go by. There is always something to see in this busy harbour. The view is 180 degrees from this patio and unlimited views from the rooftop private deck. One of the owners, Teresa, our very gracious host, gave us an orientation tour and we felt comfortable with her and all the information she gave us. The owners also supplied a book with important phone numbers, good places to eat and various attractions nearby. The apartment is close to all amenities and wonderful eclectic shops and restaurants. We particularly enjoyed the Canoe restaurant next door and Chinatown a block away. The apartment is thoughtfully and beautifully designed and the bedding is luxurious. We felt very secure in the Mermaid Wharf building located at the harbour’s edge. This is a great location for tourists without a car. My husband and I have rented apartments and homes by owner in Mexico and Barcelona, Spain. This is definitely the future trend for smart travellers. Hotels, no matter how expensive, will never give you this home away from home experience! Pied-A-Terre rivals all the other rent by owner experiences I have had. I would rent here again and again and hope that all those reading my review will book this “wonderful experience”. I call it an experience because it is - not just a place to stay!

My husband and our 3-month old stayed here, and loved our visit. The condo is too quality with fabulous view across the city, of the water and with some beautiful sunsets. The private rooftop balcony can be accessed from inside the condo, or from the elevator, and the balcony off the living space was lovely for a more sheltered location. The condo is finished to a high spec, locely comfy bed and furniture, with all the amenities you'd need, although we happened to be there at a particularly hot time, and missed air con a little bit, but you can get fresh air flowing through from the windows and patio doors. The Canoe brewpubs across the road has a great patio and lovely beers, especially the homemade Ginger Beer for those wanting a refreshing non-alcoholic beverage! The location is great for the harbour is only a short walk away for much of what Victoria has to offer and the hustle and bustle of Chinatown is within 1 block. Would definitely stay here again!

A tastefully appointed (by recognized local designer-owner) and well equipped condo with fun view of the active inner harbor. As advertised, access to water taxis and various boat and bike rentals are just out the front door. Couldn't be closer to good shopping and restaurants and such as Canoe (next door) and The Swan (a block away). Walk a block and shop and dine in China Town. Loved the views from the balconies and the private rooftop deck, as well as the secured parking. Just far enough away from noisier areas. Even the weather was perfect. We especially appreciated the attention to detail on the part of owner Teresa and her helpful assistants Judy and Harlan. Would certainly recommend this to any couple and would love to revisit.

We stayed Pied-A-Terre the 3rd week in August for a few days!! It was a wonderful place...beautiful views, great hospitality!! I had my 77 year old mother, so it was a little hard for her to walk to town, even though it's not all that far, it was an easy walk for my girlfriend and myself. But, just a few steps from the entrance to our building was the ferry taxi..they come like every 15 minutes and will take you all around the harbor..I am very picky about my accommodations due to the fact if you get in a bad or inconvenient place,it can ruin your trip..not the case here!! Loved it and would most definitely stay there again!!

The Penthouse was sleek and sophisticated as pictured. The Penthouse offered fabulous views of the city, harbour and Olympic mountains. We also enjoyed incredible sunsets and views of the inner harbor at night. Area restaurants were really good. The Canoe Restaurant and Brewpub - right across the street was delicious. The Sour Pickle was a great bargain for breakfast, the best omelette ever! The Swan, great fish and chips. Willie's Bakery and Cafe was also a great breakfast treat. We were here in mid August and had beautiful weather and a wonderful time. The owner of the Penthouse was very hospitable and left information and coupons for us to use. We would highly recommend a stay in the Penthouse.

My husband and I stayed at the Mermaid Wharf in this pied-a-terre at the end of June. The condo is probably the best in the entire complex, on the corner of the top floor, complete with balconies, a 180- degree view of the wharf, bridge, and harbor from the corner windows in the living room, and 360 degree views from the private rooftop deck that is accessible from the elevator or from the “hatch” in the apartment. It has comfortable, modern furnishings and many amenities. We used the complimentary coffee, read from the library, used the washer and dryer, and the computer and Wi-FI connection. But we didn’t turn the TV on the entire time since we were so enchanted with the view. The complex has secure access to the building and within it, which took a little getting used to, but added to the safety factor. We flew in on Kenmore Air from Seattle and walked from their dock to the apartment in about six minutes. You won’t need a car – everything is within walking distance – small grocery in Chinatown, lots of restaurants, and all the tourist attractions. Enjoyed breakfasts at Willie's and dinner on the wharf and Chinatown. The owner was helpful and "on call" to assist if there was a question or problem. You get so much more than at a hotel for a comparable price.
