Perfect place to stay in Beaune
Perfect place to stay in Beaune
I stayed here with my family in July, my wife and I, three grown children and two of their friends. It has everything as advertised, perfect location just steps from the Place Carnot. Very spacious apartment with loads of charm. JJ and his wife couldn't have been better hosts, non-instrusive and if you need anything they are right there. The kitchen is very well stocked, we cooked dinner one night, everything we needed was there. Can't wait to go back! Thanks JJ!

Wow! This is a true gem. My wife and I spent four days here with another couple and their sister. All five of us are from California, and have stayed in VRBOs before. We were hoping for the best and when we arrived, we were delighted to find more than we hoped for. First, the location is perfect. Right in the heart of Beaune, we were able to travel easily to wineries in Burgundy, and return home at night for a stroll around the town and a great meal either in the kitchen, or a local restaurant. Second, Jean Jacques (JJ) and Agnes are wonderful. They not only made us feel at home, but their wine bar downstairs was filled with great food, great wine, and a tremendous amount of fun. Third, the apartment was exactly as described. It was spacious in every way, and the kitchen was very well equipped. Make sure to stay over a Saturday night so you can shop at the great local Farmer's Market and cook dinner in the apartment! Thanks JJ and Agnes!!

The Best of the Best
The Best of the Best
One cannot put into words how wonderful this place is! We are a group of foodies and wino’s, and travel together on great adventures at least once a year, and most always book thru VRBO. I have to say this house is BY FAR the best experience we have had. The house is HUGE! Perfect for the 3 couples who went. Having the bedrooms upstairs was great. They are large and each one with its own full bath. If someone wanted to go to bed early, or sleep late, they could while the rest of us were downstairs in the living room continuing the party and we didn’t disturb them. Architecturally, the owners did a fantastic job of combining the historic structure with a contemporary interior. Being foodies (our wives’ are the most awesome chef’s) it is important to have a well equipped kitchen, and this is usually the big issue we have at every place we rent. Not here! The kitchen was very well equipped and needed nothing to prepare amazing meals from items we gathered from the markets and local shops. The location was perfect. As stated in other reviews we couldn’t be in a better location to get to everything we wanted to just by walking. Please note if you do drive in, parking is provided by the owners just a few short blocks away. The only reason you would need a car is if you wanted to drive and explore the wine country and visit other Chateaus. There are plenty to see! The best part of our experience though, was the owners Jean-Jacques and Agnes. Our last night there was great fun in their restaurant. The hospitality they showed us was just wonderful, not to mention the food was incredible. And have Agnes show you some of her art. She is a great sculptor. It was probably the 1st place we had rented that we were actually a bit sad to leave. Thank you again Jean-Jacques and Agnes for the wonderful time and memories. We can’t wait to go back, AND SOON!

Owner response: Thank you very much Ed. It's so nice to have such great renters like you have been. Our pleasure is to know our guest had the best during their stay in Beaune and in our apartment. Thank you again, and welcome soon.
The apartment was just as fantastic as the description and photos indicated. I have travled pretty extensively, and this was one of the most exceptional and unusual places that I've stayed in. It is very well located on one of the main pedestrian streets in the old, charming part of Beaune within the old city walls. You can walk anywhere in town easily. Be sure to schedule your visit to include a wonderful market on Saturday morning. The most beautiful and tasty fruits, vegetables, cheeses, pasta, jams, crafts, antiques, clothing, etc. are sold. It is less than a block from the apartment. We recommend having a glass - or more! - of wine with the owner's J.J. and Agnes in their wine bar/restaurant located below the apartment. Don't worry, there isn't any noise, though. Unfortunately, they haven't been scheduling any jazz in the bar for awhile. If you have problems with balance or walking, if if you have toddlers, I think you will have trouble with the spiral staircase leading up to the apartment which is on the second and third floors. The staircase is lovely, but a fall would be brutal. The apartment would be great for 2-3 couples or a family. We loved having a kitchen - complete with high quality china, wine glasses, utensils, and a washer and dryer.

Owner response: Thank you very much for your nice review. It was a pleasure to meet you and have you in our apartment. And we are happy you spent a great time there. Regarding the staircase it's noticed on VRBO it's not available for diseable persons and young children. But the apartment have all the qualities you describe very well. Thank you, see you again.
Extraordinary, modern and comfortable
Extraordinary, modern and comfortable
When we arrived, after a very long day of travel, we were absolutely delighted to walk in the door of this apartment. The photos here are a good representation, but seeing it in person, it's really quite extraordinary. It's obvious that the owners took great pride in the renovation. The design, furnishings, artwork and every detail are thoughtfully executed with flair. It's a stylish mix of contemporary and old world. Very spacious. The kitchen was well appointed and stocked with coffee, wine, beverages and other food items - a great welcome for the weary traveler. The bedrooms were quiet and cool even as the weather was warm and humid. The owners were very gracious, well-connected and great hosts. We came to Beaune to experience all facets of Burgundy wine making and our first evening, the apartment owner introduced us to the top guy at vincent Girardin. They also assisted us with many details of navigating Beaune, including helping my husband find a tuxedo rental for a Confrerie chevalier du Tastevin event. This apartment is tucked away in the center of Beaune, so it was easy to wake up and be at our favorite boulangerie in four minutes or the farmers market in two minutes. An easy walk to many great restaurants and shops. We would definitely recommend it to friends and wine connoisseurs.

Owner response: Thank you for choosing our property and thank you for your nice comments on it. We are happy you enjoyed your stay in our apartment and will be happy to welcome you again if you come back. Cheers.
The apartment was quite charming and conveniently located right near the Place Carnot. We were able to cook a few meals in-house as well as explore the restaurants of Beaune (the bistro right downstairs was delightful for lunch). Owners were responsive with questions we had regarding wi-fi in the apartment. Would definitely recommend for people looking to visit Beaune and Burgundy. The only thing a bit unusual about the setup of the apt was that the 3 bedrooms were on a seperate floor upstairs from the big kitchen/living room area, accessed by a semi-public staircase. Would definitely stay there again though.

Owner response: Thank you very much for this review. We appreciate your comments and are happy you liked our property. In fact the staircase is not really semi-public, only clients of our wine bar can use the corridor to access to the restaurant bathroom. They cannot access to the apartment. We hope you have made all what you expected when you came in Beaune and wish the location of the apartement helped you to do what you wanted. Thank you again and Best Regards.
Doesn't get much better than this.
Doesn't get much better than this.
We were a party of six, staying in Beaune for a week and had the wonderful pleasure of staying in this lovely apartment owned by Jean-Jacques and Agnes. First off, it is huge! There was plenty of space for relaxing, wine-drinking, recovering from wine-drinking; all the typical vacation activities. The apartment was recently renovated and feels very modern yet homey at the same time. And you cannot beat the location, right in the center of town. Another one of our favorite features was the wine bar/restaurant on the first floor (the apartment takes up the second and third floors), also owned by Jean-Jacques and Agnes. We spent many afternoons there getting to know the local wine, and the local characters! Jean-Jacques was very helpful and accommodating during the rental process leading up to our stay, and was a perfect host while we were there. One member of our party is a wine maker from California and Jean-Jacques took it upon himself to help organize visits to local wine producers and even accompany us several times. Above and beyond your typical rental experience! Thank you Jean-Jacques and Agnes for such hosting us. It was a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Hope to see you again some day.
