  This was a great experience for us. Neither of us had been to San Francisco for nearly 20 years and wanted to explore many of the different neighborhoods in the City. Bernal Heights is south of downtown, but so accessible via transit. We bought the City Pass and traveled all over, connecting to so many places. And the neighborhood truly is a gem - grocery store, coffee shops, restaurants, farmers market and shopping all within walking distance the views from Bernal Hill were amazing. We felt welcomed by the owner, Tony, who gave us a brief tour of the neighborhood and had many great suggestions of sights to see. The apartment is exactly as pictured, with a nice number of amenities and Tony provided us with some snacks and lighter breakfast fare. It really made our visit stand out. We highly recommend staying here!

  We highly recommend staying at this place. Tony is very nice, thoughtful, and true. He was the consummate host. We were welcomed with fruit and bread. The apartment was very comfortable for two. It was charming, clean, and spacious with plenty of natural light and it opened up to a backyard. The kitchen came stocked with several staples and has a refrigerator and sink. The location is convenient with several bus lines nearby. We did not have a car and we were able to explore the city. We would recommend this space to friends and family and hope it is available the next time we need a place to stay in San Francisco. It was a real jewel and it made our trip to San Francisco that much more amazing. Thank you Tony!

  Let me start by saying we had the best experience. From the start Tony (owner) met us and showed us around the apartment. Pictures on the web site just don't truly show how nice the apt really is. Very comfortable, private with all the ammenities of home. Fully stocked kitchen upon arrival. The location is in a great little neighborhood with fantastic eateries and shops withing walking distance. We were able to utilize the BART rail system which is withing walking distance from the apartment. We rented a car upon arrival which turned out to be perfect. We were able to park on the street (free) every night with out problem. The city and all the surrounding activities are within easy reach of the apartment. The neighborhood is very safe and friendly. We have stayed at many fantastic Home Away rentals and found our experience at Tony's to be at the top of the list. I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a nice little getaway to the Bay area to treat yourself to a stay and we will definitely return.

  We really can't express how much we enjoyed staying at this location...but we will sure try. After a long flight from Boston, Tony met us at the Bart station (a nice 15-20 min stroll from the house) and gave us a lift back to the apartment, but not before giving us an impromptu driving tour of Bernal Heights, restaurant recommendations, and general tips about navigating the area and getting down town. He was so incredibly nice and helpful that even after a long night and morning flight we were jazzed to explore the area. The apartment even had some snacks and drinks for us - major plus! The apartment itself is wonderful. Clean and quiet and in a safe area close to some really cool shops and restaurants, as well as the oldest farmers market in California (about 6 blocks down the street on Saturday, not to be missed). Bernal Heights itself is wonderful, with great little wine bars and some truly exceptional cafes. Getting around also proved to be much easier than anticipated. Using either the Bart or the bus (which I must admit are much nicer and cleaner than the Boston MBTA) was quick and efficient, as was getting a cab downtown or home at night. One major unexpected plus was that being so close to the highway ramp actually proved quicker for getting back via car or cab from downtown as opposed to staying deep in the center of the city. In any case, we really cannot say enough good things about this apartment, about Bernal Heights, or about Tony. Highly recommended!

  This is a great spot...very clean and is well located. Good amenities in the suite and Tony the owner is very helpful. We would stay here again.

  The apartment is exactly as pictured. Although you may not be right downtown San Fransisco this apartment is located in such a nice little area of the city. There are so many places to choose from for coffee, wine bar, restaurant or local pub. We came back into the area every evening to eat, drink, etc. Transportation is very easy whether by bus, train or BART. We bought the City Pass which made things much easier also. Tony, the owner is amazing!! He makes you feel right at home and is a wealth of information and is always very happy to help you out in any way. It was so wonderful for you to provide some fresh fruit, milk, coffee, etc for our first morning in the apartment. Thanks again Tony for everything - we will definitely return!!

  Tony's apartment in Bernal Heights was just fantastic and we had such a great time in San Francisco. The photograph is exactly what you see in the apartment, it is clean and well maintained. Tony drove us to and from the airport and he also welcomed us with a food basket when we arrived. We felt very well taken care of, but he also was not intrusive in any way. I would really recommend this apartment, it is close to public transport, we didn't have a car and managed just fine. The restaurants and coffee houses nearby are also delicious. We would love to come again.

  Clean, fresh, and comfortable. We enjoyed staying in the very private and quiet apartment while visiting family in the Bernal Heights neighborhood. We were so surprised to find a lovely assortment of breakfast items and snacks provided...what a nice touch. We loved getting morning coffee and pastries at one of the many great shops on Cortland. Can't say enough good things about the owner, who accomodated all of our needs.

  This was such a great place to stay. I could hardly believe our luck when we stepped into this beautifully decorated apartment which opens onto a lovely garden - it was such a peaceful oasis that we found ourselves often not wanting to go out and explore San Francisco! The attention to detail was amazing - quite like a 5 star hotel! It was absolutely spotless and the presses and fridge were stocked with the basics and beyond. The owner, who lives in a separate apartment upstairs, was a mine of information and really went out of his way to help us in every way conceivable - without invading our privacy in any way. The apartment is within walking distance of some really great bars and restaurants and a short train or bus ride to downtown. I will definitely stay here next time I'm in San Fran - it's like a home away from home!

  Great host, very accommodating and helpful with directions and things to do in the city. Convenient location, close to public transportation and major highways. Apartment is spotless and nice deck in the backyard. Fully stocked kitchen. I would definitely stay here again.

  Owner response: Thank-you for the review, the apartment has a private entrance and is 10 minutes from the airport and close to public transportation, with easy on street parking, the kitchen is stocked with breakfast items, Cortland Ave has many places to eat and shop. Come and stay in Bernal Heights and enjoy San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.
