The Lodge at Lake Arrowhead was built by German craftsmen and master masons during the 1920's oil boom in Southern California and features massive stone fireplaces and hand carved wood beams. Tom Cannon, an oilman from Signal Hill, CA finished building this world class hunting lodge for his personal guests in 1928 in the then newly formed private community of Lake Arrowhead. Since that time, this property has served as a hunting lodge, a private residence to several families, and most recently as a Bed and Breakfast style Inn.
The Lodge has 6 bedrooms on the top 2 floors, all with a private full or 3/4 bath and most with lake views. On the main floor, there is a large salon with a piano, massive stone fireplace with hand carved mantle & beams, a library/ media room with a large flat screen TV & Blue Ray / DVD player, a convenience kitchen and sitting room with wood burning fireplace, an intimate dining room and full bath. On the lower level, there is a large kitchen, large dining room with wood burning fireplace, a family room with a large flat screen TV and Blue Ray / DVD player and a laundry room.
The Carriage House sits directly behind the Lodge and has 2 junior suites. Each suite has a queen size bed, a queen size sofabed, 3/4 bath with a shared kitchenette between them.
There is abundant parking with 6 off street private parking spaces on Lakes Edge Road and 14 off street private parking spaces behind the Carriage House. The Lodge is located directly across the street from the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa and the Village of Lake Arrowhead, with over 50 shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.
The Lodge and Carriage House sit on a beautiful 0.6 acre lot with many large mature trees. The property is surrounded by a tall iron fence with locking gates for your privacy and security. This beautiful estate offers the very best of Lake Arrowhead and is only a short drive to ice skating in Blue jay, skiing & snowboarding in Big Bear. This home is charming! It accomodated our large family very well. It is rare to find somewhere with so much living space and a place where every room has its own bathroom. Its proximity to the Lake Arrowhead Village and the fact that it provides so much parking makes this a wonderful family or large group destination. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend and would love to stay there again myself.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Lisa! You and your family are welcome anytime!

Great weekend stay at Arrowhead Mountain Lodge and Carriage House
Great weekend stay at Arrowhead Mountain Lodge and Carriage House

This place was wonderful for our large group of about 17 friends. We were all guys, nearly all in our late 30s and early 40s, and we went up for a relatively tame mountain bachelor party for one of our few remaining single pals. We stayed Friday and Saturday nights and got a late check-out on Sunday. I arrived early with one pal Friday to stock up and check in. It was pretty perfect for our purposes. There were lots of beds, pull-out couches, and other couches for everyone to sleep, lots of bathrooms, a couple of grills for barbecuing, two dining rooms where poker games sometimes started up, and two kitchens (we kept the drinks in the upstairs kitchen and did our indoor cooking in the downstairs kitchen, which is more of a cook's kitchen). The front porch is a nice spot for morning coffee or afternoon cocktails. A couple of guys even tickled the piano keys in the main living room. There are some restaurants and a grocery store very close by in the "village" along with a local watering hole (the Arrowhead Bar) where we spent a bit of time when we weren't at the place. Nobody had to drive anywhere all weekend, which was nice, though a few of the more motivated went on jogs or hikes in the mornings. The place itself, while built many decades ago, is beautiful, indoors and out, as the photos reflect. The guys in my group, some of whom are accustomed to staying in nice spots, were all impressed; since I'd set up the weekend as the best man, I got the credit (I'm getting emails from them as I type this). We had no real complaints. Yes, a couple of the toilets seemed to have some initial flushing issues(it's a vintage property, likely with vintage plumbing) but that was nothing a plunger couldn't handle (there were lots of plungers). We reported the issue to management afterwards and they will likely take care of it. Management guy Scott Anderson, with whom I communicated mostly by email, was very helpful and friendly. Would be an excellent spot for family reunions, groups of friends, etc. And with a large enough group, it's easy to split the costs. I suppose I should add that there are a lot of stairs (including to all the bedrooms), so folks with stair problems should consider that. Overall, highly recommended. p.s. While we were a bachelor party, we did our best to respect the place and to clean up after we left (though the rental costs do include a cleaning fee). It's a special place and it deserves respect.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Mark! We appreciate your business and your kind review. It is a magnificent place and we rely on our guests to give us a heads up on any potential issues that might come up. Thanks for the feedback on the facilities and all recommendations are corrected and complete. A huge thank you and your group also for respecting the place and the neighbor's peace and quiet. Best Wishes!
