Great place to stay for a couple or small family. Affordable, clean, and located near the beach with 3 different beach accesses. Also you can walk or ride to to unique shops, dining (many great choices), beaches, State Parks, hiking and biking trails, coffee houses, sushi, live music, night life, hardware store, bait shop, fishing charters, jewelers, massage therapy, chiropractor, gym/fitness center, salons.
Beach life, no problem here.
A simple apartment , nicely decorated and clean.
One bed room off the kitchen area. One twin and one Ikea futon in a florida room off the dining area.

I would recommend the Outpost without any exceptions. It is clean, nicely furnished and privately situated. Perfect for a couple but could also easily accommodate a small family. While the kitchen is not set up space-wise to prepare large complicated meals, it has all of the necessary items to do so. Just a short walk down to the beach, shops, coffee house, or the park. Short distance to other areas such as Seaside or Gulf Breeze. The ideal spot for a relaxing get-away. A real nice community without all the frantic activity you find in other areas on the coast.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

I've stayed at the Outback on two occasions and will return in April 2012. I found it to be very clean, peaceful and uniquely decorated. Nancy and Craig are friendly and always available if you have questions or needs. It's just a short walk to the beach for a great day of relaxing and playing in the gulf or sand. I really enjoyed tne amazing sunsets in the late afternoons. I loved having a cafe and coffee shop nearby to start the day.. Red Bar is a fun fun place for lunch or dinner. Staying in Grayton Beach is the best and the Outback makes it affordable. You wont be sorry you booked it.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

I was fortunate enough to get away alone for the weekend on short notice, and doubly fortunate to have found Craig and Nancy's pied-a-terre. The location is perfect -- just far enough from the madding 30A crowd to have serenity, but close enough to it should you choose to get in on the action (which, by bike path, is a beginner level .8 mile scenic cruise). Grayton Beach attractions, including bike rentals, Hibiscus's cafe, the Red Bar and the beach, are all within easy walking distance. The apartment is more spacious than I imagined, incorporating an open, modified shotgun-style layout to full effect. The ample kitchen separates the main bedroom from the living area, where an additional twin bed and futon are located. Craig and Nancy have made particularly charming use of room dividers -- curtains and louvered doors -- to allow for a bit of privacy if desired. The lighting is serene. Craig and Nancy are close-by but not at all intrusive. Very clean, very sedate, and at a price that can't be beat in this location. I can't wait to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

About the owner: Nancy and Craig McLaughlin Owners/Operators of Grayton Beach Massage. Located upstairs from the apartment. We have lived here in Grayton Beach for over ten years and we love it here. This is a great place to raise our young son. We enjoy the outdoors and traveling. Yoga instruction is another one of our pursuits. We teach classes in Seaside Florida at The Studio, 5 minutes from Grayton Beach.
