Top Floor Condo in Building Right on the Beach!

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
Nani Kai Hale (the name means 'beautiful sea house' in the Hawaiian language) sits directly on Sugar Beach in South Maui, a five mile stretch of walkable sandy beach.
Our condo, 604, is on the 6th and top floor with beautiful views of the ocean from the rooms and lanai. It has a full kitchen with dishes and amenities, air conditioning, flat screen TVs in both the living room and bedroom, free wireless internet, cable, free local phone calls, beach towels and hair dryers.
The unit was remodeled in 2006 with granite counter tops and tile floors throughout, and the furniture was recovered in 2009. We just did a deep cleaning n May 2011.
The condo sleeps 2 but the queen sofa bed in the living room accommodates 2 additional guests.
Nani Kai Hale is a quiet, smaller property with a private beach, pool, outdoor grills and patio. THE BUILDING IS 50 STEPS FROM THE WATER!
The grounds are well maintained with lovely plantings and friendly guests. Whales play out front in season (December - April) and cool breezes make this a relaxing spot . We have gone GREEN. Pool and laundry are solar heated. Please recycle with us too!
The location is close to the restaurants and shopping of Kihei and Wailea. It is only 8 miles from Kahului airport.
Because we like this building and location so much we just bought another unit in the building. So feel free to contact us about either of them. Or, look at the other unit on VRBO listing number 170159.
We believe that you will love it here as much as we do!
And, the fabulous sunsets are free!

My wife and I went to Maui during the week of Mother's Day. We thought it would be a great place to celebrate her years as a mother and grandmother. We were certainly not disappointed with our choice. The condo was exactly as described. it was fully stocked with what we needed, very clean, easy access, friendly management, great parking, everything you could ask for.The location was great for beaches, shopping, eating, and traveling throughout the island. We ate at some of the owners suggested restaurant locations but many meals we prepared in the condo. We snorkeled at local beaches and at the crater. We drove the Road to Hana and shopped at many of the stores on Front Street in Lahaina where we enjoyed a great crab cake sandwich at Longhi's. Great place to stay and enjoyed the many things to do in Maui.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.

Beautiful condo, immaculate and fully equipped. Great views. My photos of the property are very similar to the ads. The owner made great recommendations for local food and shopping. Construction next door and the hiway behind make for a lot of noise. At night the waves do drown out all the other noise. Very windy when we were there. We traveled all around the island and found that most other spots not nearly as windy. Overall a very pleasant experience.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We enjoyed a fabulous month long stay in this beautifully decorated and well equiped condo. Nani Kai is a friendly environment that is centrally located on the island allowing easy access to everything Maui has to offer. The beach is just steps away and the grounds, building, pool and bbq area are very well maintained. We enjoyed the amazing view of the ocean from this top floor unit. The owners are very conscientious about making sure everything is in working order and welcome guests with a gift of local coffee just to get you started! There is also a binder with information that highlights activities, restaurants and shopping on Maui in this unit. The keyless entry is a real bonus for ease of access and peace of mind (no keys to worry about!). We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked it again for next year!!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

The condo was impossible to keep cool without having the loud A/C unit running all day and even then it does not cool down the bedroom area for comfortable sleeping at night... couldnt keep the bedroom window open because there is a highway and busy intersection that is right below this condo. Street noise can be heard all day and night. We ended up sleeping in the living room on the pull out couch - not very ideal for a vacation. And it may be worth a mention, that the view from the lanai is currently a construction site directly below which was not an issue for us, but could be for some. You can see the ocean too! That being said, the condo itself was nice and clean, had everything you needed in the kitchen, everyone we ran into around the condo unit was very friendly. Never a wait for the elevator. Parking was easy. Great beach access. Good location if you plan to do a lot of sightseeing - easy access to the highways.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: As owners of this condo, we were sorry to hear our guests had some issues with their stay. These are the first negative comments we have gotten since we bought it in 2006. We were actually on the island, in the same building, at our other condo during their stay. They experienced what we call Kona weather. Normally cool trade winds keep the condos cool in the afternoon and evening and air conditioners are rarely needed at all. Kona weather occurs sometimes in early winter and sends warmer, more humid air toward Kihei. It also can blow in small amounts of VOG (volcanic outgassing) from the Kilauea Volcano that is currently active on the Big Island, which can cause an overcast sky. We live here 4 months a year, however, and find the climate to be very pleasant almost all of the time. The condo is in the center of the small building and the intersection they mention is at least 500 ft away. There is a green belt of palms and banana trees between the road and the building. Almost all the Kihei condos are located on North or South Kihei Road, which is the main road that runs along the beach. It can be busy during the day but usually quiets down at night. Most people say the sound of the ocean is actually louder than the cars, since the ocean is closer to the condo than it is to the road. Nevertheless, if you want to be on the beach in Kihei you will also be near the road. The construction next door is a multi-million dollar project that will greatly enhance the beach and the general neighborhood. It will be a one-story building, so the ocean view from our 6th floor condo will still be completely intact. Most days the site is quiet and the guests staying in the condo just prior to these guests actually found that the construction project was interesting to watch. We do thank them for noting the good condition of our unit. We work hard to keep it that way, and to improve it when we can. We don’t leave others to do the replacement, repair and updating. The building is small and friendly and we own two condos because we found it to be the one of the nicest on Maui.

The unit it beautifully put together and fully furnished. The view of the ocean from the lanai was nice to come back to after being out. The beach chairs were very nice to take and use for the beach time along with simple things like the cooler and beach towels. The owners have done a wonderful job in making the unit comfortable and classy. The only drawback for us was the location. The negatives were being close to the highway. Traffic noise was noticable but not a deterrant to relaxing on the lanai. The bedroom was difficult to keep as cool as we would have liked since the air conditioner is in the living room and there was limited cross ventilation. The general location on the island was the biggest disappointment as they were burning the cane fields several of the mornings so we had smoke blowing through. It was also windier than anticipated. If you like laying on the sand and snorkeling, this isn't the beach for you. But if you like to take long walks this is nice when the wind isn't blowing.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

My wife and I loved the balcony, and whale-watching from it. The beach provided a long walk in marvellous conditions, steps from the building. While the building itself was quiet, the traffic was not--as others have mentioned. We left our windows open at night however, and slept anyway. It is a bit away from the commercial area of Kihei. Wi-fi connection is not very good. Apartment is comfortably furnished and well equipped. People at the doughnut and coffee session on my Friday there were anything but friendly, although nobody was unfriendly when we met at elevator, etc. Owner was fine to deal with.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: We strive to do everything we can to make our guests' stay as enjoyable as possible. I am returning to the island day after tomorrow, and will address the Internet connection. Based on what I've learned the router setting needs to be modified. If that doesn't work, however, I will replace the router. As for other people not being friendly at the Friday coffee and doughnut session, I don't have a fix for that, although I haven't experienced it myself :-)

Well appointed, remodeled top floor condo with views of the Pacific, the West Maui Mountains and the Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge. A sod farm separates you from the next condo, immeasurably improving the feel of open space and the views. A very friendly group of retirees live in the building, and the folks who were renting condos were also nice, ranging from small, young families to older couples escaping the Canadian winter. A short walk to a small farmer's market (M-F, 8a-4p). Clean and well maintained grounds as well as the condo itself. Owner was prompt and helpful. Easy check out. Nothing annoying about check out like having to do all the laundry and put away all the dishes and cart the garbage into town which has happened in other condos we've stayed in. One star removed because of the noise from traffic. The condo is on N. Kihei Road which is a major thoroughfare. If you want to be along the beach in Kihei, it appeared to me that you will have to be close to this road. This unit is toward the back of the building, though, so the noise is greater than if it were toward the front. Minor points: The sheets do not match the quality of the condo. They had no elastic in the bottom sheet so bunched up and came off the bed easily. Basic cable. Wifi was a little slow so there were lots of pauses when I streamed Downton Abbey. The building itself is not fancy. You can rent units in this building for cheaper, but they are half the size and have not been remodeled since, I'm guessing, the 1960s. Overall, Very Good!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for your thoughtful review. We will address the issue with the sheets when we get to the island in three weeks.

Perfect location! My favorite things about the condo are that it is light and airy, has the conveniences and comforts of home (including cable TV, Wifi), on a quiet beach (good for walking and swimming), has a great pool, is clean, well designed and the decor is up-to-date. The location is perfect for exploring all aspects of the island because of the central location. The owners and occupants of the building are friendly and inclusive in their daily activities to all people that are there. I stayed for two weeks and could have stayed for two months! Would you recommend this vacation rental to a friend? YesRecommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Nani Kai Hale provided a perfect setting for one of our best vacations ever. The condo was spacious and had beautiful views plus it was loaded with all the necessities needed to help make it a home away from home. Restaurants, shopping and entertainment are all close by but don't intrude on the quiet setting offered by Nani Kai Hale. The patio area near the beach provided a community like atmosphere with plenty of friendly owners and guests. The outstanding beach, great swimming, and beautiful sunsets make a return visit a must for us.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.
