Paradise found

My friend and I stayed at the cottage in early January of this year. I can truly say that the view from the lanai of this cottage would be hard to beat....anywhere. With the lack of traffic near the East end of this island, one can hear the waves coming to shore from down below. With Maui in the foreground to the left and Lanai on the right and dense tree canopy between the shore and the property, the view is unbelievably beautiful. I awoke early in the morning to see the gorgeous sunrises from behind Maui and it was an emotional experience. The east end of Molokai is an adventure just driving along the narrow road which seems the only thing evident that mankind has touched this magical place because of the never-ending dense green lushness. Molokai is definitely not for everyone....especially those in search of big showy hotels with trendy restaurants and designer shops. Look for those on a different island. I loved Molokai and hope to return there again someday....and when I do this lovely little cottage is the place I want to stay.

A Dream Honeymoon

The Hilltop Cottage was perfect for our relaxing visit to Molokai. Private, breathtaking views, whirlpool bathtub... not to mention a beautiful collection of books on various subjects about the Islands and Molokai. We spent hours reading and eating local produce while taking a break from the many activities and excursions offered on the island.

Hilltop Cottage is realy a Palace!

Date of Stay: 03/26/11 Review Submitted: 04/18/11

We stayed at the Hilltop Cottage from 3/26/2011 thru 4/3/2011. I find it difficult to describe this little piece of paradise in so few words, simply put our stay was wonderful! If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful, private, safe, get-away; look no further! The open airy design with the most incredible view is so welcoming and homey! You will find a very well equiped kitchen, spaceous bath, and comfortable furnishings. The only thing missing would have been a couple of beach chairs. I didn't ask ahead of time, and well we aren't as young as we used to be! I would suggest that you take some time to research Molokai'i. There is so much to do and see. I think the most important thing to convey "If your in a hurry your on the wong island!" Things here are not commercial, the only people in a hurry are locals on their way to market on Saturday, or on their way home from work. So be kind, let them pass. Always remember you are a visitor. The people of Molokai'i are very friendly, just be sure to treat them the same, sorry I think this is important! I would highly recommend a stay here. I do think I left part of my heart there. Do not hesitate to email the owner, she was very helpful and kind. The neighbors just behind the cottage are wonderful people. Hope next time we have a better chance to visit with them! For a car rental I suggest Island Kine. Great rate, even though we lost our key at Halawa! (don't do that!) I could rattle on about this wonderful place for a long time, just make up your mind and GO!!!

Wonderful Hideaway

Aloha Kehau, Just a quick note to let you know how much Steve and I enjoyed our vacation at the cottage. The setting was just amazing, the view incredible - I could never tire of looking at Maui and Lanai across the ocean in the distance. We loved everything about the cottage, private location, peaceful, fantastic vintage decor. We could not of had a more relaxing time, it was just a shame we had to leave. Hopefully, we will see the cottage and wonderful Molokai again next year. Mahalo, Lisa and Steve

Beautiful, Private, Peaceful

Guest: Ian (Oahu)
Date of Stay: 07/13/10 Review Submitted: 08/12/10

My wife and I spent 5 days at the Hilltop Cottage. I wish we could have spent 5 months there. The cottage was beautiful and comfortable. I dont think you can find that type of privacy and peacefulness anywhere else in Hawaii. Moloka'i is a beautiful and relaxing place to get away to. Papohaku beach is amazing. We found a trail through the forest west of the Kalaupapa look out and saw wild goats and incredible views of the north shore cliffs. We drank coconuts on the beach at Halawa. We found a dirt road just before Maunaloa that ended up on a beautiful deserted beach. Thank you Kehau, both Moloka'i and your Hilltop Cottage were amazing.

Perfect Honeymoon Location!

Guest: Bunney (West Sussex, England)
Date of Stay: 06/24/10 Review Submitted: 07/04/10

Thank you Kehau for sharing your little slice of paradise with us. We found the Hilltop cottage a clean and airy space with all the amenities necessary to make it home from home. It provided a comfortable setting with some of the best views on the island. Nestled in the foot of the mountains, it overlooks three islands with fantastic views of the ocean. You can still hear the waves in bed! Definitely the best property by far. Kehau was friendly and helpful when needed, without compromising our privacy. Molokai is the original Hawaii, definitely for those who want to escape the tourist traps. We enjoyed putting our feet up on the porch and taking in the view. We found it easy to slip into the pace of life here and left feeling truly refreshed and relaxed. We look forward to returning in the future and happily recommend the Hilltop Cottage to those interested in relaxing on Molokai.

Thinking of you fondly!

My daughter and I enjoyed a week's stay at the cottage in 2006. It was a great trip. We slept so well in this wonderful place--no insomnia, no discomforts. We don't hesitate to recommend Kehau's lovely cottage to anyone who desires to retreat off the beaten path. It is a memory you will never forget--to watch the ships sail by in the moonlight against the other islands and a backdrop of a starlit sky-- Molokai is a terrific adventure, and this cottage is truly lovely.

Hello Kehau, my husband and I had a great week on Molokai. The Cottage was fantastic! We spent hours on the lanai, watching the sun rise and looking at the whales. Although staying at the Condo was not as spectacular as the Cottage, we really enjoyed exploring the west end of the island. (And the Condo was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Very nice. ) I left a note in the condo for you, but I don't know if you got it or not. We had to leave the Condo Saturday morning earlier than we planned, due to the threat of the tsunami. Because we didn't know what to expect, we took the little cooler with us so we could take some things that we had in the refrigerator. We ended up giving the cooler to the woman from Island Kine car rental agency. I would like to pay you for the cooler, so if you could let me know how much, I would appreciate it. It is obvious that you put a lot of effort into providing a comfortable place to stay, and there were many little details that we really appreciated. Who knows what the future holds, but if we ever come to Molokai again (and I would love to), we will be in touch. Aloha, Barbara

We loved being at your place! Hopefully all was well and there wasn't too much mess for the house cleaner. We did leave everything in the garbage bin. We are interested in scheduling a stay again in November for next fall. It will be Uncle Williams birthday, 80! So what would you like us to do to secure it? We are not sure about the dates, except Nov 12th is his birthday. Don't know about the preparations, etc. Let us know what to do? Thanks Kate
