My very large family gets together every year in a different city. We rent vacation homes everywhere we go. This house (we rented both upstairs and down, plus a condo across the street owned by Liz and MJ) was the best yet. The house is just beautiful! The location - between the streetcar on St. Charles and the shops on Magazine - was perfect. I was very happy to have my family finally come to New Orleans, and I couldn't have shown my city off better than to have them stay at this perfect vacation rental. Thank you Liz and MJ for a memorable reunion!

A beautiful, historic and elegant home where there is plenty of room for everyone. The individual HVAC is nice since we all like different temps. Walk to St. Charles Ave (Superior Seafood on the corner is recommended) or to charming small businesses on Magazine St. (DO go to Sucre for ice cream) and the French Bakery.......discovered it only at the end of the trip. The Rouses market by the river is awesome; better than Whole Foods overall. The owners were awesome as well; very responsive and made the entire experience one we would repeat anytime! Looooooooooooove New Orleans!

We met in New Orleans for a Family Reunion, coming from all over the country. We walked into the front door of this beautiful home and were overcome with joy that it was such a perfect setting for all of us to enjoy time together. The rooms are large, the house is neat and clean and accessible and the location is just 4 blocks from the trolley. I really hate to give this place such a great rating because I want to come here again and am afraid that a good rating will cause it to be constantly booked. The owners came by the house a couple of times and were great to inform us of it's history and give suggestions for restaurants and things to see, right in the neighborhood. Perfect, perfect, perfect! While in New Orleans we took a tour called "The Cocktail Tour" which was very informational and just plain fun. Also, ate at Brennan's for a bit of old time New Orleans flair. That was a great experience. We also ate at Dijon's and Borgne - I would not recommend either of these Dijon's was overpriced and the service was excruciatingly slow. Had to take a cab to get there. Borgne was more of a Sports Bar in the Hyatt than a restaurant - overpriced, noisy, lacking in ambience. Overall, though, our family enjoyed going to New Orleans for a Reunion. It was easy to get around the city via the Trolley Car, City Bus and cabs. We were able to walk just about anywhere we wanted to get to from this house and did not rent a car. I give our Family Reunion weekend an A+!

We rented the entire house for my wedding back in September and it was just absolutely amazing. Liz and Mary Jane were so very patient with me through the planning process and made numerous date changes for me without any hesitations. Everyone thought the home was just the most incredible piece of history they got to enjoy while in town....the decor is top notch, the renovations are wonderfully done, and the home is so very comfy! We had two families with 9 adults upstairs and 7 adults and 2 toddlers down stairs and we had plenty of space. This house is just absolutely perfect :-) There isn't a thing that needs to be improved. In the area there are plenty of restaurants and shopping. Getting to the French Quarter or to Carrollton is easy by using the street car. I truly hope that I have the opportunity to stay here again :-)

This extraordinary house is extremely clean and well-maintained. No mold nor mildew odors at all for those of us with asthma. Each room has individually controlled A/C using a remote control device. The rooms are very large, and the ceilings are very high. Towels are soft, full and fluffy, and there are ample supplies of toilet paper, soap, shampoo and conditioner and paper towels. The owners are a delight and extremely welcoming. We were 2 moms and 4 daughters and we stayed 3 nights. Two of the girls had lived and worked in NOLA for several years 4 years ago. They said the house and the locaton were exceptional. We had a wonderful dinner at Pascal's Manale at 1838 Napoleon Avenue. And yes the St. Charles trolley is convenient as is driving to the French Quarter, and Magazine has a wealth of wonderful stores. Strongly recommend this place. Looked at many others, but this one more than lived up to its description.

We were out in NOLA for our first time for a bachelorette party and we stayed at this Grand Antebellum home in Uptown. The owners were really easy to work with throughout the entire process....When we arrived, we were surprised at how nice the home was! Just like the photos!! It was located in a very nice area of NOLA, away from all the hustle and bustle, but close enough so you can just take a short cab ride to anywhere, and the street car is just down a couple of blocks! We loved staying here and def would do it again!

What a great place to stay when you visit NOLA! You really get a sense of what it's like to live in the city. It is convenient to the trolley and within walking distance of some great places to eat (I recommend La Petite Grocery for upscale dining and the French Bakery on Magazine is wonderful for breakfast.) The house was spacious and and beautiful. We would highly recommend!

My family and I stayed for four wonderful days in this gorgeous house. It was such a treat to have a home so wonderfully located, full of antebellum "charm and character", spacious, clean and owned by two wonderful ladies!! High, high celings, beautiful and ornate crown mouldings combine with glowing chandeliers makes you feel as though you've returned to a much "gentler"and gracious time. There is plenty of parking as well but you truly don't need to bring your car since the trolley is a short walk away. The kitchen and baths are well done so you aren't trading "charm" for convenience....you pretty much have it all. One other thing....try Emeril's Delmonico for dinner...their crab croquettes just melt in your mouth so between the wonderful restaurants, colorful French Quarter, lovely home and helpful home owners, I'd return in a minute!!!

The house is great....roomy, comfortable, all the modern conveniences without losing any of the charm of when the home was built. There were 11 in our group....3 teenagers and 8 adults. We had plenty of room. The temp in the home was comfortable....warm when cold outside and when we needed it cooler....we simply opened a window. We came the week before Mardi Gras. Enjoyed parades lining up and passing right in front of the home....great people watching! Having one parking space was all we needed as the location allowed us to use the Street Car and buses to get around. Lots of great food right in the neighborhood! MJ & Liz made it easy and treated us like family. Check in could not be easier and check out was a breeze. If I would recommend anything it would be keeping a few basic spices (salt, pepper, sugar and flour...maybe a little coffee/tea) in the house would be welcoming. I think we left enough for the next guests. Thanks for all your hospitality!

We had a great time in this house, we went the week of Christmas eve to enjoy NOLA and the surrounding area. The house is very spacious: we stayed 9 of us (5 adults , 2 teens and 2 children) during 6 nights. I think the house is great up to 3 couples with children. The location is convenient, close to the streetcar, easy to park if you have a car. The ringing of the church’s bells reminded us France ! I just recommend Liz maybe to add some cleaning supplies for those you stay a long time with children (a broom for example)

I stayed at the Napoleon House over the Christmas Holiday. The house is gorgeous, and can easily accommodate large groups-- we had nine adults and one child! There are four big bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and all the beds are comfortable! No one felt crowded in, and everyone had their own space (which is important when you bring two very different families together-). There was even enough room for the ten of us at the large dining room table! I can't recommend this house enough! And the location is great too-- right there by the St. Charles Ave Streetcar and just a short walk from Magazine St!

My girlfriends and I went to New Orleans for the Essence music festival and this place was spectacular. It was very large with very high ceilings. The pictures don't do it justice and make the rooms seem smaller than they actually are. The description is quite accurate and sleeps 10 easily. It is just a couple blocks away from Magazine Street which is great for walking and sightseeing. It's also a few more blocks away from St. Charles so you can take the streetcar. It was well lit as we had some late nights getting back to the place. There was ample street parking in front or across the street too. It's really beautiful and gives you a sense of what it's like to be in a true historic New Orleans home. The owners did a great job with the house and when we go back, I will definitely stay here again.
