A Sophisticated Vacation Home

What do you call this new, architecturally designed, two-story log home nestled in the foothills of the Trinity Alps, and set on three and one-half acres of pine, oak and Manzanita? You call it Sierra Log Lodge, your dream vacation home far from worldly cares… or the center of activity with four telephones and cellular reception.
It’s your call.
A truly great room is the main floor’s dog friendly “Great Room,” where you look up to a soaring 30-foot ceiling of enormous handcrafted sierra pine and cedar log beams and perlins. Six massive windows with western exposure face professionally landscaped California native plants and panoramic mountain views. The stylish furnishings are sturdy tables and chairs as well as comfortable sofas outfitted in colorful native textiles from Chile, Argentina, and Peru. Entertain with cable/satellite TV, a DVD and CD player, a VCR, and music and video libraries.
Downstairs, the fully equipped dream kitchen was carefully planned to include maintenance friendly concrete tables, countertops and floors. Appliances are stainless steel. A pantry (!) provides ample storage for meals served in nearby eating and living areas.
Also downstairs is the ultra-private large master suite with queen sized bed, well appointed bath, and extra large closet.
Upstairs, you’ll find a carpeted loft with a fold down couch and two other spacious bedrooms, one with a queen sized bed and the other with two twin beds and extra large closets.
Sleeping in any of the bedrooms rivals a fashionable city hotel because of the 600 thread count cotton sheets and down comforters.
Plan on sleeping six in three bedrooms, or eight if you use the fold down, or even more than you thought possible if you include the downstairs couches.
Picture your family and/or guests gathering on a 270- degree, west facing patio of 1,000 square feet protected by an overhanging roof. Wine and dine them after barbecuing on the two grills. Challenge them on the regulation horseshoe and Bocce Ball courts. You’ll have room for an RV/boat/trailer as well as parking for approximately 15 vehicles on this three and one-half acre property.
Do as little as possible on vacation or engage in such activities as golfing, biking and hiking. Or, find boating and other water sports, as well as fly fishing, available at Shasta Lake—a mere five minutes away. Travel 20 minutes to the Upper and Lower Sacramento Rivers, or 90 minutes to the Trinity, McCloud and Applegate Rivers. The Klamath, Eel and Fall Rivers are only two hours away (along with many lakes and creeks).
Winter visitors can snowmobile, cross country or downhill ski at Mt. Shasta Ski Park. Wine mavens will enjoy the area’s numerous wineries
Some points of interest located in Redding are: the amazing Calatrava "Sundial" Bridge connecting the Turtle Bay Exploration Park and the McConnell Arboretum; the Sacramento River Trail; the Shasta Dam and Shasta Caverns; and, of course, the spectacular 14,161-foot Mt. Shasta. Railroad buffs can even find a railroad museum located near Dunsmuir.
It’s your unforgettable vacation house… just the way you want it. It's your call.

The question is why would one extol the charms of the Shasta Log Lodge at the risk of having it booked-up in the future when it will be desperately needed again? Seriously, anyone who stays at this gorgeous secluded lodge will have all expectations exceeded. Last one there's a rotten egg!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

An absolutely beautiful lodge in serene surrounding. We had three generations of family stay and it was perfect for young and old. Morning coffee on the veranda and evenings relaxing and enjoying the marvelous sunsets. Loved the pet deer who came to visit each morning and evening.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners.
Owner response: Dear Ms. Mary: Many thanks for your review. We love it too! Any suggestions to make a stay even more enjoyable? Again, thanks for taking the time to post a review. Best, Diane & Al Knoll

This house was wonderful - beautiful contemporary design, decoration and furniture! We were two families and had a lot of fun. BBQing was also a lot of fun for us (there were TWO BBQs!). It is located in a secluded area, very quiet. There was also ample parking space, as well as outdoor space for playing.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We had a delightful New Years stay at the Shasta Log Lodge. We were a group of seven, and the lodge accommodated us wonderfully. The house was absolutely beautiful. All of the amenities were top of the line. The location was great... close to great hiking trails, fishing spots etc... The mountain sunsets were picture perfect. The property was quiet, peaceful and playful with its bocce ball and horseshoe courts. We played in the snow at Mt. Shasta, fished in the Sacramento River and dined at Jacks in Redding.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We greeted the New Year's at the Lodge. I can't recall a setting I've enjoyed so much. We bid adieu to 2011 from the front porch as we watched the sun set and the alpen glow on the Trinities. Second time there and we'll be back. What a lovely placeRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We stayed at this lodge as a jumping-off place to explore this part of California. Description and photos on VRBO are good representations of the home, but cannot do justice to the view and setting. The lodge is brand new, crisp and clean, with all amenities for a short or long-term stay. Feels isolated, but is actually close to the Interstate with Redding to the south and Shasta City to the north. We especially enjoyed the wrap-around porch for R&R after a day of exploration. If you are looking for a quiet spot near Lake Shasta you will not be disappointed with this property.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My friends and I had an absolutely wonderful time at this beautiful lodge, which sits on it’s own little knoll tucked into a private lot with breathtaking panoramic views of the mountains. The smell of fresh pine trees and mountain air just fill your lungs with energy and inspiration. Inside the lodge are all the comforts of home and everything you might need for a great vacation. We spent most nights just sitting on the big veranda in front of a fire watching the stars pass us by overhead. Fantastic! Regards, MarkRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Truly breathtaking location! Very clean and modern new log home which was beautiful constructed perched on the side of the mountain. The view is spectacular, I didn't want to leave. Such a peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature. So much to do and see in the surrounding area but I didn't want to leave the house. I cannot wait to go back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
