located near
MacArthur Blvd NW and Arizona Ave, NW
Washington, DC 20016
This is a recently renovated lovely 800sf apartment located on the entire ground floor of a home in the close-in Palisades neighborhood of Washington, DC. It features an open living room and dining space with working fireplace, bamboo floors and large windows facing your private garden. The dining room seats four and there is a writer’s desk to work at so you don’t have to take over the dining table. The fold out sofa (not pictured) can accommodate 1 to 2 additional guests. IF you have a child under 4 years of age please inquire about other properties as this one in not toddler-proof.
The bedroom features large windows facing the garden and an ultra-comfortable queen bed, (with a magnetic mattress, for those of you in the know on these things), to ensure a great sleep after a long day. There is plenty of storage room for your clothing in two closets and a dresser. The Zen-like bath is really spectacular and features a Japanese style soak tub and a separate pebbled floor shower.
In addition to the basics, the kitchen also has a microwave, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker, Cuisinart food processor and Kitchen Aid mixer. There is also a large washer and dryer in the apartment.
You will enjoy WIFI, a new wall mounted HDTV with full cable. The water is on a filtration system and there is a portable HEPA air filter. The washer and dryer are shared and available for your use. The home is located on a quiet cul-de-sac with unrestricted street parking in front of the house. Walk down gradual stairs along the side of the house to the rear entrance (pictured). The stairs are charming, but uneven. If you have difficulty walking or with stairs this may pose a challenge. Please inquire.
Enjoy a morning coffee or meal alfresco on the patio in your private garden particularly in the spring, summer and fall when the flowers are in glorious bloom and the melodious sound of the fountain transports you far from city life. The garden is lovely and welcoming, the plantings however are fragile, so it is not suitable for use by dogs or very young children. We wish to preserve its beauty for the enjoyment of all our guests!
*Please note that this property has a fee of $20 per night, per guest for a travel party over 2 persons.
* Please note , if you are bringing a pet cleaning fee of $100 is required. Well trained, mellow, mature dogs are welcome. We prefer that they be crated if left alone during the day. The garden is for the enjoyment of our two legged guests, please walk dogs on the street or in the nearby parks.
**We welcome children 4 and older, the apartment is not toddler-proof. We have many toddler-friendly properties. Please inquire!

This was a very comfortable apartment for my Granddaughter and I, for our visit to DC. The bus and metro were very convenient and we took them each day into the city to see the sights. The garden was a beautiful place to have breakfast and relax. Also a beautiful atmosphere for a glass of wine after a full day in the city. Beautiful, safe neighborhood too. If you are into exercising, the walk to and from the bus, restaurants and mini-market includes a moderate hill. Our hostess was more than gracious and made us feel right at home.Recommended for: Tourists without a car.

My wife and I booked the "Glades" apt after reviewing the choices and feedback in VRBO. This apt is a great place to stay for visiting the Capitol--located in a very quiet neighborhood on a short street cul-de-sac. Its only about 3 miles from Georgetown, and a couple more miles to the White House. The bus stop is a just below the house on MacArthur Blvd, so it's easy to get around. Starbucks in a block away, and the grocery store is about 8 blocks away. Susan is a great host. She's helpful and the home is quiet. The bathroom is glass tiled with a glass shower and clear vessel sink. The kitchen is small, but it works excellent. Laundry is right in the hall between the kitchen and dining area. The living-room is very nice with leather sofa and chair. Overall, a very good experience, and we'll both recommend it to others and be back ourselves.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family of 4 stayed for Spring Break (kids ages 8 and 11, mom and dad). The location is FANTASTIC! A lovely neighborhood where you can walk to a grocery store, Starbucks, mini-mart and good restaurants---some WILL break the bank, some will not, but most post menus so you know what you are getting into. You can catch a bus to the metro easily....M4 to Tinleytown station also gets you a Whole Foods on the way home when you need it, the D6 bus takes you to Dupont Cir station and is the longest ride, but you see a lot of Georgetown, the French Embassy and Embassy Row on Mass Ave on your way. Susan your host is great. The unit itself is clean and comfortable and suitable. I would not rec. for very small children as there is a steep staircase to negotiate on the way down to your private entrance. Very well lit with motion sensor lighting, but steep and uneven terrain and I would not carry a child or a ton of luggage and small child accoutrements down it. The space is also small...fine if like us you sight-see hard all day and want a nice place to cook a meal and decompress for a bit before bed to do it all again the next day, but would not look at it for long stretches indoors with active kids. All in all, a great experience and felt like we experienced the city from a local perspective. Far more comfortable, safe and less expensive than a hotel. Hemingway, the 6 toed cat is a DOLL and Susan's gardens are BEAUTIFUL!Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
