The Palisades apartment description
A. . DESCRIPTION
This is a thoughtfully renovated 800 square foot apartment located on the lower level of a home in the close-in Palisades Village neighborhood of Washington, DC. It features an open living and dining room with fireplace, bamboo floors and large windows facing your private garden. The dining seats 4 and there is a writer’s desk to work at. The fold out sofa can accommodate 1 to 2 additional guests. The home is located on a quiet cul-de-sac with unrestricted street parking in front of the house. Walk down gradual stairs along the side of the house to the rear entrance (pictured).
The Zen-like bath is really spectacular and features a Japanese style soak tub, glass sink and a separate pebbled floor shower. The water is on a filtration system and there is a portable HEPA air filter for the benefit of those with seasonal allergies. The kitchen is equipped with a microwave, toaster oven, blender and coffee maker. There is also a full sized washer & dryer in the apartment, go home with clean clothes!
Enjoy a morning coffee or meal alfresco on the patio in your private garden particularly in the spring and summer when the flowers are in glorious bloom and the melodious sound the fountain transports you far from city life. The garden is lovely and welcoming, the plantings however are fragile, so it is not suitable for use by dogs or very young children. We wish to preserve its beauty for the enjoyment of all our guests!

SUMMER VACATION DC
SUMMER VACATION DC
The photos on VRBO make the rental look MUCH bigger than it really is! We were not impressed with the rental OR the manager, who by the way lives upstairs. Upon our arrival we never received our key and waited 2 days before connecting with Susan. There was a load of wet, sour laundry in the washer which I had to take out and dry! Sharing the washer/dryer was not good. Our second to last day THEY came down from upstairs and dropped a load of their laundry on the floor in front of the washer!!! The outside patio area was terrible. The patio furniture was not clean and under the deck had piles of junk along with garbage cans. I did send photos along for Kevin to see. Many of the light bulbs were burnt out including the track lighting in the kitchen which was VERY dark. Lastly, our sheets were not clean when we arrived! Luckily I had brought a set from home! I would NEVER recommend this unit to anyone travelling to the DC area!!!

This apartment is in a fabulous location. It is clean and adequately furnished. The management team looking after the property could not be more helpful - they were great. The information they gave was all correct. However, was was very disappointed with the lady who owed the apartment. When we arrived the apartment was freezing cold (in June). It was so cold that my husband wanted to check into a hotel and we would have, had it not been so late - 11pm. Admittedly this was partly our fault because we had not phoned to ask for a particular temperature requirement as the instructions suggested- there is only one control which you have no access to. We emailed and phoned the next day. Although the owner informed us it was cold due to their sick dog who very sadly passed that day, it remained freezing cold all week. we had asked for between 75-78 degrees. We had to use every blanket in the apartment and sleep together with our child (3 in a bed!) to keep her warm at night. The other problem with the AC is that is makes so much noise in the kitchen area (part of it seems to be screened off in the kitchen) that you cannot be in the kitchen while it is running because of the noise. The only time we saw the owner was when she came down to the apartment, as we were leaving, to ask us to put the sheets in the washing machine. I thought that rather odd, particularly as we were rushing to leave before a bad storm hit. She did not endear herself to me later either when having not responded to several emails about something that I thought I had left behind, she called me at 6.40 am! Which might have been convenient for her but obviously not for me. Her excuse was that she was very busy - sorry but that is no way to run a business or to get repeat business. Another thing that my husband found frustrating as he had electronics to plug in - a lot of the plugs are painted over so you cannot use them. Also the coffee pot and toaster don't quite reach to plug they are positioned near. It would be handy to put and extension cord there so you don't feel like things are going to fall off the side of the counter. All in all - we would not visit this property again, but would recommend Kevin and Charlotte who manage others. They are wonderful.

This was a very comfortable apartment for my Granddaughter and I, for our visit to DC. The bus and metro were very convenient and we took them each day into the city to see the sights. The garden was a beautiful place to have breakfast and relax. Also a beautiful atmosphere for a glass of wine after a full day in the city. Beautiful, safe neighborhood too. If you are into exercising, the walk to and from the bus, restaurants and mini-market includes a moderate hill. Our hostess was more than gracious and made us feel right at home.

Great Serene Apt in Palisades Village Home!
Great Serene Apt in Palisades Village Home!
My wife and I booked the "Glades" apt after reviewing the choices and feedback in VRBO. This apt is a great place to stay for visiting the Capitol--located in a very quiet neighborhood on a short street cul-de-sac. Its only about 3 miles from Georgetown, and a couple more miles to the White House. The bus stop is a just below the house on MacArthur Blvd, so it's easy to get around. Starbucks in a block away, and the grocery store is about 8 blocks away. Susan is a great host. She's helpful and the home is quiet. The bathroom is glass tiled with a glass shower and clear vessel sink. The kitchen is small, but it works excellent. Laundry is right in the hall between the kitchen and dining area. The living-room is very nice with leather sofa and chair. Overall, a very good experience, and we'll both recommend it to others and be back ourselves.

Our family of 4 stayed for Spring Break (kids ages 8 and 11, mom and dad). The location is FANTASTIC! A lovely neighborhood where you can walk to a grocery store, Starbucks, mini-mart and good restaurants---some WILL break the bank, some will not, but most post menus so you know what you are getting into. You can catch a bus to the metro easily....M4 to Tinleytown station also gets you a Whole Foods on the way home when you need it, the D6 bus takes you to Dupont Cir station and is the longest ride, but you see a lot of Georgetown, the French Embassy and Embassy Row on Mass Ave on your way. Susan your host is great. The unit itself is clean and comfortable and suitable. I would not rec. for very small children as there is a steep staircase to negotiate on the way down to your private entrance. Very well lit with motion sensor lighting, but steep and uneven terrain and I would not carry a child or a ton of luggage and small child accoutrements down it. The space is also small...fine if like us you sight-see hard all day and want a nice place to cook a meal and decompress for a bit before bed to do it all again the next day, but would not look at it for long stretches indoors with active kids. All in all, a great experience and felt like we experienced the city from a local perspective. Far more comfortable, safe and less expensive than a hotel. Hemingway, the 6 toed cat is a DOLL and Susan's gardens are BEAUTIFUL!
