Timmerhouse is comfortable, private, and eco-friendly: built with timbers milled from our own trees, and surrounded by nature at its best with 12 forested acres, gorgeous views over a field and garden to the ocean and Beaufort Mountains, and a walk-on beach.

For those seeking to rest and relax we offer quiet & comfort: cozy up with a book by the wood-burning fireplace; lounge on the sunny upper deck or the large covered patio; go bird-watching or beach-combing or pamper yourself and book a massage.

When you want to venture out, launch your kayak from our beach, cycle the quiet country roads, walk the trails, swim in the ocean or 2 local lakes, explore local artisan studios and shops or play 9 holes on Denman Island's free links golf course.

Further afield, just a 10-minute ferry ride away, is Hornby Island with its famous sand beach at Tribune Bay. Another 10-minute ferry ride takes you to Vancouver Island where you will find Mt. Washington Alpine Resort for skiing and other winter sports as well as summer alpine hiking in Strathcona Provincial Park, mountain biking, fishing charters and whale watching.

Timmerhouse has a fully equipped kitchen and outdoor gas barbeque for those who like to cook. If you'd like a break from cooking our local bistro has delicious choices.

With a queen-size bed upstairs and 2 single beds down, we sleep 4 adults very comfortably.

There is truly something for everyone here and we look forward to your visit.

Staying at Timmerhouse was so wonderful, our family of five returned two weeks later for another week and we'd love to go back today. Our family really appreciated the exquisite Island ecology. We learned a greener way of living and respecting the environment. We brought bicycles and spent both weeks exploring Denman and Hornby and still didn't see everything. Forget about the 100 mile diet and enjoy the 5 mile diet. There were roadside stands with honesty boxes (plums on Hornby just before the Cardboard house were divine). The farmer's market was marvellous and the recycling centre inspiring. Locally grown succulent peaches, cherries, beets, peas, lettuce and the list goes on. We bought wool spun from Denman sheep and made a gorgeous hat. We made pies with huckleberries and blackberries that we picked. We went snorkeling and sea kayaking and were enthralled with bald eagles, kingfishersm sand dollars, oysters, crabs, anemones, hermit crabs, otters, seals, starfish, sea stars etc. The local swimming lake is a treasure, so clean and the short walk through rain forest beautiful. The owners have created a private and bright but cosy retreat with a huge patio to enjoy the view and the afternoon sun. Reading in the early morning on the upstairs balcony was sublime. The silence at night and the stunning star display were enchanting. Everything you could possibly need has been provided including two bookshelves of reading material. They owners were a fantastic source of information on local wildlife and ecology and their passion for this area of the world is contagious. They directed us to sea kayak rentals, the Produce Shack and the recommendation for the Kaffee Klatsch Bakery was spot on. Excellent meals from local ingredients (especially the non-appetizing sounding Vegetable Hash with poached eggs with yolks so creamy you'll come home and be ruined for store eggs) were divine. The Cardboard House on Hornby was a repeat stop for smoothies, eclairs, quinoa salad and enchiladas after mountain biking and running on exhilarating trails. The natural history information room near Tribune Bay was super. We made casts from fossils and learned about sealions vs seals, anemones and other animals. Heliwell Park was a treat and Tribune Bay looked like something from the Caribbean. Loved the ocean wildlife in the rocky portion of Tribune Bay. Obviously can't say enough! P.S. go golfing at the free golf course!

Six georgeous summer days and oh-so-quiet nights spent at Timmerhouse. A beautiful setting, great owners, lots of things to do and if you so choose, nothing to do! Swimming, kayaking, exploring, relaxing, reading, bbq-ing, watching the stars in the night sky. Thank you Morley and Shelley.

We loved the cozy elegance of your home, the breathtaking views and the gorgeous weather helped of course. Thank you for striking that perfect balance as hosts: attentive but not obtrusive.

Everything we needed was available, leaving us little to pack. Property spacious and very nice views of water, mountains, trees, and stars are a feast for the eyes.

I recently spent 5 days at Timmerhouse on Denman Island to escape the hectic ways of city living. This rental property offers everything required to get in some serious R&R or to utilize as a base camp and carry out daytime activities. The beach is a stones throw away, beach combing is a must. Highlights of the trip include the neighbourhood eagles that are seen on a daily basis, the blue heron we saw hunting for fish at sunset, playing 9 holes on the sheep farm, and star gazing from the Timmerhouse balcony. The owners live in a house on the property. Kind and knowledgeable people, they ensured we were happy and comfortable throughout the week. I would not hesitate to recommend staying at Timmerhouse and hope to return next year. Thanks again!
