Beautiful view of Zaton Bay (Adriatic Sea) from the terrace, and just a fifteen minute drive to Dubrvonik's Old Town. Zaton is a charming village which has great swimming areas and restaurants. Beaches nearby. Villa Rosa (my place) is set on two parcels of land and is surrounded by Italian Cyprus trees. There are Oleanders bordering the front garden with Olive trees and citrus trees. A hammock hangs between two majestic Cyprus trees. Help yourself to seasonal herbs, figs and raspberries. BBQ in the garden. Grocery store near by. Very private location. Ample Parking.
Apartment nicely decorated.
Owner is American and lives on the premises.
Keywords: One bedroom apartment (AC) sleeps up to 3. Kitchen fully equipped; shared terrace with spectacular views; 2nd bed/bath in detached cottage with no kitchen. Two minute walk to the sea and great swimming. Great restaurants within walking distance. Grocery near by. Twin apartment available.Bedrooms have AC. Living area/sleeper sofa does not.

You will not find a more gracious host. We arrived with plans to drop our luggage and head out. We spent the late afternoon and evening, talking and enjoying the sunset on the sea sitting on the terrace with no desire to go anywhere else. The apartment had everything one needs to enjoy your visit, from location on the sea to nearby market and well furnished kitchen. It is convenient to get to, but away from the crowds of tourists that descend on Dubrovnik so you can enjoy what the Dalmation Coast has to offer. Michael O'Malley is a wonderful resource for enjoying the area whether you are there for Dubrovnik or a day trip to Montenegro. We will return again.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We rented both apartments for two incredible weeks & each has great views of Adriatic Sea. The apartments are newly decorated, well appointed with clean lines and comfort in mind. My teenage daughter loved having her own apartment with separate bedroom, and a sweet open living room and kitchenette with French doors out to the balcony. Michael is a great host.He really knows the area & can tell you the secret local places to go.You can hire him to cook you a delicious dinner on the terrace as the evening cools down & the Adriatic Sea & sky turns all dusky pink & lavender while you watch the local fishing boats return. He buys from fresh local markets, uses herbs from his garden, & local Croatian village-made wine and lemon-cello. We had fish one night, chicken another, & a great Thai dinner our last night. Yum! The views from this rental out to sea and mountains are lovely, peaceful & ever changing as the light changes on the sea throughout the day. The house sits at the end of a long narrow U cove with views of the sea, low mountains & the red tiled roofs of the villages that dot the lower coast line, set against the steeply rising giant hills that are rocky, dry & sparsely tree-ed. It is just a 3 min walk to lovely swimming. You can walk along the calm water's edge through the sleepy, charming, & relaxing village of Mali Zaton. There is a good small & well stocked grocery store 100 yards from the rental where you can walk to get everything you need for making meals, or you can walk to little cafes and restaurants along the waterfront. We loved taking the local 3 island boat tour for the day right from the village with the "fish or chicken picnic" & choices to swim, shop, or laze about at a cafe on each island. If you rent a car Bosnia is only a 1/2 hour away. The views along the coast are spectacular. However, my favorite pleasure was picking a fig off Michael's tree in his garden on my way to and from a swim. We all plan to return!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

I stayed in Michael's villa this summer with my husband, 11 month old daughter and mom. Villa Rosa and everything it offers cannot be adequately described in photos or words, its something you need to experience! The villa is marvelous! Once you step in the apartment, the view of the sea leaves you breathless. Michael really thought of every single detail to make the guests feel comfortable and pampered. Also, there was plenty of room for our little daughter to run around! Apart from the one bedroom, we also used the couch in the living room which was very comfy. I have to add that all rooms were very clean when we arrived. All the sheets were ironed and it felt great to kick back after a long trip. Michael's cuisine is something not to be missed. He can make whatever you like and turn it into specialty food. As described above, everything is close by, the city, grocery store, restaurant and of course, the beach. This was one of our best vacations! Thumbs up!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

My husband and I stayed in Villa Rosa early September. This was our first real vacation in years and those few days turned out to be absolutely wonderful! In great part this is because of Michael's (the owner) hospitality. The apartment we stayed in was perfect for us - one bedroom, one living room with a kitchen and the unforgettable terrace with a fabulous view. Just waking up early in the morning with a cup of coffee in my hand, watching the sunrise..or dining with the sunset...absolutely stunning and mesmerizing. The apartment itself was very clean - clean sheets, clean bathroom, and all with a hint of lavender. The location of the villa is also very convenient. It's a few minutes away from Dubrovnik b and a few minutes from the well-known Radisson Blu hotel resort. Just next to the villa there is a restaurant and a convenience store. Now, a little bit about the owner....apart from being a wonderful person, Michael is an excellent cook. We love gourmet meals and Michael topped our expectations by serving his famous limoncello pasta. And that was only the first night:) We definitely give five stars to Michael and Villa Rosa!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: I am a Chicagoan who came to Sarajevo in 2001 to work with ABA/CEELI for one year. Visited Dubrovnik that first summer and decided that this was the place I wanted to live. Bought my place in 2003 and built the additional apartments in 2008. Have traveled widely and also spend a fair amount of time in Ireland. I enjoy cooking, swimming, hiking, music and interesting conversations over some good wine or home-made cordials.
Why the Owner Chose Dubrovnik:
had not really heard much about Dubrovnik before first visiting in 2001 - mys first summer in Sarajevo. Walked into the Old Town and my jaw dropped. After a couple of years of visiting Dubrovnik, I decided I would rather live near the Old Town than in it. I believe I made the right decision.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Great place to kick back and relax. I never tire of the views of the sea. Changes every day. Birds sing night and day. Only one neighbor to the south of me and they only come occasionally. Olive groves to the south and Italian Cyprus behind me. A two minute walk to the sea - great way to start the day with a swim; or walk up into the hills behind me for a more strenuous form of exercise. Two first-rate restaurants within walking distance - 20- 25 minutes away along the coast. Elefiti islands are quite nearby.Bus stop just across the street will take you to the Old Town. Also available is a boat which will carry you to the Old Town.
