  I have been up to Hidden Valley Retreat and Spa three times and every time I am there I fall in love with the place again. I went up the first time a few years ago for a work retreat. It was nice to be able to reconnect with co-workers (and get some work done) while walking the property, picking apples, and relaxing in the sun and looking out over the valley. Later that year I took a group of middle school students up there to hunt for insects and learn about entomology. They kids had a great time and they didn’t want to leave. (They literally spent an entire afternoon trying to convince me to call all of their parents and arrange for us to stay another day - unfortunately we had to go back to school.) We had such a good time that this year I took another group of middle schoolers up to write and film movies. They roamed the property with cameras imagining zombies in the woods and finding “cursed necklaces” in the orchard. Again this group didn’t want to leave. I can’t recommend Hidden Valley enough the buildings and property are beautiful and well maintained and the staff are lovely and helpful.

  This property was so enjoyable for our group retreat, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet and secluded piece of land. The garden, small walkways down the hill, and hidden treasures brought me to a giddy smile that made me feel like I was in a fairy tale. The property owners are so nice, and they really enjoyed speaking with us about our experience. What nice people! The patio area was gorgeous, the view was beautiful, the rooms were very neatly decorated, and the place was so clean. I hope that we have the opportunity to do another retreat here in the future!

  Was part of a big retreat for a week. We were comfortably accommodated, lots of space, privacy, and seclusion. Lots of nature and area to walk around. High recommend it to anyone looking for a retreat, wedding, etc.

  Our group of 34 greatly enjoyed the Hidden Valley Retreat and Spa during a four-day family reunion in November of 2012. The setting is beautiful, secluded and private and the units are clean and very functional. We had people of all ages, from infants to senior citizens like me, and they all would choose to return for another visit. We learned of Hidden Valley Spathrough online research. The owner/management team was easy to work with and even stayed in a separate onsite unit one or two nights while we were there. The large event center (reception room) was a huge plus for our group, as was the huge patio with outdoor fireplace overlooking the valley. Having multiple refrigerators and two kitchens (among the 3 buildings we used) was excellent. The three units are built on a hillside and one gets good exercise going from the bottom one ("barn" unit) to the top one. We senior citizens stayed in the highest facility near the event center and younger families stayed in the lower two units. The facility was clean and the systems all worked. This is a place to go and enjoy its beautiful surroundings, not to hibernate and watch TV, although there are several television sets that accommodate DVD's or the huge selection of VHS movies onsite. There was not a TV connection and that was a plus in my view. There is also an extensive library of novels, self-help books and other good reading material. In the Hidden Valley vicinity there is internet and phone reception but it's not the best. That applies to that area as a whole and is not a knock on this particular retreat facility. If and when we use the facility again for a family reunion we may use a walkie-talkie system to be able to communicate from house to house among the various units that we will occupy. If you have the good fortune to stay there you may wish to take a few small flashlights for afterhours walking around. If you are like our group you will enjoy the solitude and beauty of the Hidden Valley location, about 20 minutes from town (Escondido). There are fruit trees and other vegetation galore. There is a pool table for ages 16 and older, table soccer, a jacuzzi, board games and more already on site. As it was winter we did not use the nice swimming pool that was there. Some in our group enjoyed jogging nearby trails and pathways. There is much variety in nature to observe onsite. We even had a visit by Clint Eastwood---well, sort of. I hope this writeup is useful to someone else. Dave

  Hidden Valley was a blessing in disguise. Not only were the able to accommodate our large group, but they also were accessible throughout our retreat. The location is beautiful, and this is definitely a location that I would reconsider hosting future retreats/events. It was a joy working with the staff, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking to host any event.

  People make the place and this is beautifully exemplified by the owners of Hidden Valley Retreat & Spa. Fiona and Steve accommodated our group retreat on every level with immediacy and graciousness. The accommodations perfectly met our needs with a variety of options for couples, singles, retreat teachers and leaders. They have cultivated the natural splendor of the property with fruit orchards and gardens, plus waterfalls throughout that delighted the attendees. The estate also offers an array of settings, which made each of our activities unique and memorable. The quiet, secluded atmosphere greatly supported the energy of the retreat. You could really feel the care and consideration they've put into the property. We loved it so much that we already booked two more upcoming retreats.

  This property is the perfect place to get away from it all. Totally quiet and solitary with the exception of a few animal visitors including an array of birds, owls, and coyotes. Taking coffee in the hot tub amid the giant oak trees was a major highlight as was sunning by the beautiful pool. There were 15 from our group who all stayed comfortably in the main house. The event center is fantastic and can be set up several different ways to accommodate formal occasions to yoga classes. We did our yoga out on the patio of the main house that gave the feeling of being in the sky. We were so happy here and all look forward to our return to Hidden Valley next year.

  My extended family and I (22 people, age range of 3 months to 72 years old!) stayed at Hidden Valley at the end of June 2012. It's a great place for a group this large. Everyone can congregate in the main house and pool area, but there are plenty of other areas of the property to get away for some "down time". Fiona and staff are extremely friendly and we always felt at home and appreciated as guests. I'd highly recommend Hidden Valley to anybody.

  I found this place for a youth group college retreat. They were beyond accommodating. Each room is decorated in a personal way, very welcoming and well maintained. The staff really worked with you to meet your needs. The staff on the site were all very helpful as well. Molly, the owner, personally toured a few of my representatives around before we actually reserved the place. Even provided snacks at the end of their tour! Really liked that this place was exclusively our own during our stay. We brought in groceries and made all our meals for our 2 night stay and brought in instruments for our sessions in the main event center. I will definitely consider this place again for our future retreats. If the photos on their website aren't enough, I definitely recommend driving there to check the place out.
