Set well above the beach, the beautiful home commands an striking view of the north shore. When morning showers sweep across the ocean, you'll have an excellent opportunity for an iconic view of rainbows over the tropical ocean. Kristy, and all the Las Terrenas folks were friendly and responsive. Dinner on the patio, and plenty of massages in the exquisite master bedroom were highlights. We had a lovely stay.

overall our stay was lovely . House was fully equipped to most part. The house is very centrally located to wonderful beaches near by and restaurants. The house is on cliff so be mindful to have a walk down on rocky road for all nearby beaches . We were total of six adults and two kids so two guest room were little too small with kids otherwise they were ok. Host is been extremely helpful in arranging cook, babysitter and basic details prior to our trip. Thanks for your help Kristy. You have beautiful house.

Owner response: We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. Fortunately the road to our community is about to be repaved. One master suite and two guest rooms is generally perfect for three couples which is why we recommend a 6 person max. Some guests do choose to add a few children at their own discretion.

Wonderful week in a lovely home in a beautiful setting and quaint city. The house was beautifully furnished with many amenities and the yard was professionally landscaped. One of our favorite features was the spacious balcony patio where we congregated each morning and evening to enjoy the ocean views. The beach was a short 5-6 minute walk from the house and from there you could walk into the town of Las Terranas. The snorkeling around the point was great and we saw a variety of fish including cuddle fish, octopus and lion fish. We would definitely return to this property but probably not during the heat of the summer as there was no air conditioning.

Owner response: So glad you enjoyed your vacation. You are right, breakfast on the terrace is delightful! No our house does not have A/C which is clearly noted on the website and I noticed that we actually went over this in our e-mail correspondance. I guess it was a particularly hot week. Generally the ceiling fans throughout the house keep things pretty comfortable year round. Thanks for choosing our house.

Our stay was was fabulous, the house is absolutely breathtaking, the view is unimaginable. Even if we had a little mishap with the stolen well pump we didn't feel any discomfort or inconvenience , Thelma responded quickly. You have great people working for you. We did bbqs at the house, went to the fisherman's market and made langostina , we went deep sea fishing and made the catch of the day on the bbq with a wild mushroom risotto. We always felt safe.We went out a few times, and our greatest discovery was the the Collonial the best quality and price, the Troika great home made pelmeni and Nikolai the owner is one heck of a guy. The Thalassa (a bit overpriced), Mi Corason (expensive) but great food and service, best cheese burger One love surf shack, typicial and a bit scary at the same time Luis. Overall, the sunsets at the house, the view while sipping a pina colada in the dipping pool made our holidays fabulous. thank you for letting us share your house.

Owner response: Thanks so much for the reviews on some of the local restaurants! As an executive chef your input carries great weight. I heard from Thelma, the housekeeper, that you were delightful guests. Thanks for staying 'Chez nous'.

It's been almost two months since we returned & the kids are still talking about this experience. Great food, precious people, incredible views and sights-simply a beautiful country. We could have certainly stayed several more days-there was just so much to see & do we simply ran out of time. I’ve been on several international trips but first time to plan for family of five. Kristy answered numerous emails during the planning process, up until the trip & even a few during our stay. She patiently answered all of my questions without any hesitation, was very timely with her replies & gave honest feedback without a hint of frustration. We kept to her suggestions/advice most of the time. The Vant home is located in a great spot, with a fabulous view. Being located at the end of the road & not located on a through street/road was outstanding. It is obvious they took detailed care in choosing their house. The condition of the home-beautiful wood floors, comfortable beds, large patio & hot tub & the spacious bedrooms were top-notch. 2.5 baths were also a life-saver. We spent most of our time eating out and on a few occasions cooked a meal or two in the house. LT had flying ants after the rain but they went away quickly. Food choices were outstanding-you name it they had it-all excellent choices. Sailing club at the bottom of the hill-coldest beer in all of LT! Rent the Rav4 from the housekeeper. Avoid the rental co at the airport or in town. This made things so easy & we felt completely comfortable driving around LT-although driving is a bit of an experience in and of itself! Only other suggestion we would be to check out the other smaller airports closer to LT. We flew into SD & it required some planning & time to make arrangements for the 2.5-3 hours drive. We are convinced that our decision to come to the DR, Las Terrenas & the Vant home simply could not have been better.

Owner response: Another happy guest :) It delights us to know that our little piece of paradise is so appreciated. Great news. There are now (as of Nov. 2012) flights direct from NYC to the Samana airport (AZS) which is 30 minutes from Las terrenas along a gorgeous new highway with views that will take your breath away! Check it out on the Jet Blue website. It leaves NYC on Sat. or Wed. at 8:30am and has you on the beach by early afternoon. We've been waiting for this. yeah!

We would highly recommend this house, as well as this lovely area to enjoy a very special holiday. We found it to be very beautiful, clean, comfortable, safe, with the most fantastic view!! The pool on the deck was a favorite spot, as well as the large deck and eating area. The bedrooms, especially the master bedroom blew us away!!! The walk to the beach was just down the hill, and the beach was beautiful and we enjoyed the swimming, sun bathing, and walking. In addition, we enjoyed being able to walk to various areas on the beach to enjoy several very yummy lunches, as well as a few cold brews!!! The local fishermen are close by as well, and that was a highlight, being able to choose your fresh fish to bring home and cook on the BBQ on the deck!! In addition, we felt well looked after by the staff and the security personnel. Everyone was friendly and helpful and that was appreciated very much. Ah but all good things must come to an end---we had to leave but it was a holiday of a lifetime, and this house created just the right atmosphere!!!

Having traveled all over the Dominican Republic I can honestly say this place beats them all hands down. The proximity to Las Terrenas, the most beautiful and uncrowded(almost desserted) beach of playa las ballenas, the comfort and elegance and most fantastic view as well as the helpful and friendly staff and owner make this place special. The villa is nicely designed and furnished and has all of the amenities to make your vacation, from the large collection of dvd's, games gallore(watch out for the maid's daughter in dominoes she is a pro!), internet connection and safety of a gated community, views and ocean breeze truely are amazing. These spacious quarters are perfect for families or couples travelling together and do not miss the chance of a home cooked meal by Thelma, you will not be disappointed. Thanks again to Kristy and "crew" for a wonderful experience, Ben and Felicia Johnson

My wife and I are Dominicans, with 2 small kids (11, and 9). When we decided to spend this last Christmas and New Year Eve in las Terrenas, our main concern was to find a good place where we could accommodate not only ourselves, but also my in-laws. I may say that by having the chance to rent this place, it made the whole trip quite an experience; it’s a superb staying. The house has a marvelous Ocean view with a lot of trees completing the setting. It simply makes you want to stay there forever. While getting into the house might strike you the first time (the road is not in good condition, so thanks God we traveled in our SUV), after you set your foot in the property and put all your bags in place, you cant resist to fall in love with it. The beach is so close that the location is near to be perfect. With several movies and good books all around (I enjoyed “Reading Lolita in Tehran”), you will feel at home in the most beautiful place of our country.

I may have returned to Brooklyn, but in my mind I'm still at Casa Orquedea... sitting on the terrace watching my friends dance, doing early morning yoga against the backdrop of an endless vista, or grilling freshly caught Dorado under the stars. You truly feel like you are all alone atop this hill, with your own private ocean lined with palms... but not too alone because rest assured the guards were always looking out for us upon our return home from drinks at Mosquito Bar or dancing at La Bodega. Adventurous treks in the rain to Playa Bonita were well worth the trip... a beach I will never ever forget. Oh Las Terrenas, with your kind people and kinder lifestyle, there wasn't a day in your presence that I didn't want to fall in love and stay forever! I look forward to my return (via motoconcho of course) to this idyllic place. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

O, my strapping Dominican rental property, our affair was too brief by tenfold. You arrested my heart, swallowed the key, and left me perplexed and paralyzed, my emotions teetering on a tropical bluff like an agentless palm tree craning high above the pale sands of Playa Bonita. Your vistas seduced; your dancing terrace ravished; your DVD collection had me striving towards dawn. Now back in the arms of my hardened spouse, Brooklyn, I wonder how I summoned the strength to depart you. But fear not: I will someday return to Las Terrenas and its swanky Mosquito Bar, its raucous La Bodega, its mouth-watering Mambo Club sirloins, and its chivalrous motoconchos and their late-night moped services. Until then, my reveries for your irrepressible cleaning woman, with whom I shared a magical Jacuzzi-side pina colada, and your intrepid nightwatchman, whose friendly ojos served us better than any motion-sensor alarm system, will have to suffice. My inevitable return (this time in a four-wheel-drive vehicle) will make our next tryst even sweller. You supply the balcony, I'll bring the rum, and the DR's starlit nights will do the rest.

My husband and I stayed at this house in the Dominican Republic last February and fell in love with it, it’s surroundings and location. The view from the porch where we had breakfast each morning is delightful – overlooking mango trees with the texture of palm trees in the distance against the blue of the ocean. We had privacy and comfort in the cool white interior that was a perfect respite after all of our activities at the beaches and the dancing at the clubs nearby. We loved being able to walk to the beach and the town because we like the exercise, the air and the gorgeous setting. This is a perfect vacation rental – well maintained with charming attention to details in the interior design. Just lovely.

My stay here was so wonderful! The house is gorgeous. Large, clean, and very relaxing with a wonderful deck that you can have meals on and listen to the sounds of the ocean waves. The views are incredible, you feel swept away. The short walk down the hill to the beach is easy and you can spend all day swimming in the warm waters, tanning and drinking or eating at the hotels and restaurants nearby. A little farther is the town of Las Terrenas, which is full of shops, stores, restaurants, and nightclubs. We rented ATV's from a company in town and rode around different areas of the peninsula, we even climbed up to see a waterfall. I would recommend this rental to anyone.

Are you looking for an oasis where vacation can start on the first day? Then this home is the perfect place to stay in!! Immediately when you open the door you can relax. Built in a natural looking shape with a DR-beach-type-interior design the house is very authentic and cosy. With its two levels you have the upper- level to hang out indoor in the spacious living room and open kitchen that is full equipped. On the lower level there are nicely designed bedrooms. On the upper –level outdoors on the big terrace you can enjoy a gorgeous (almost 180 degree) view over palmtrees right onto the open sea. There is also a Jacuzzi and a big built-in-bench on the terrace where you can relax under the stars. On the big grill you can have a BBQ with local specialities bought in local grocery markets in Las Terrenas where you get a feeling for the friendly local people and the nice atmosphere of the town that still seems untouched from the big mainstream tourism industry. Not to mention the nightlife in Las Terrenas with salsa-music in the air and the best cocktails with fresh pineapple juice! The location of the house is perfect. On a little hill it is quiet and safe with some houses of expatriots around. In the attached garden you can look for exotic DR plants. Las Terrenas and various beaches are in walking distance and you can choose between the lonely beaches or busier ones with cafes and the best surf-waves. Taking the quad you quickly can find yourself riding through a jungle or along coffeeplantages and beaches. By the way: the owners are very nice people and I’m sure they will assist you with any help and provide you with insider-tipps like how to get to the wild waterfall of Limón!

For the adventurous, this is a fantastic alternative to an all-inclusive resort. The property, described quite accurately in the write-up, has a lot going for it: 1) a unique location, on a hill among a few other houses, between and within easy walk of two different beaches (perfect for a daily swim!); 2) beautiful views (like in the photos, only better!); 3) clean, bright, airy, well-maintained rooms, cooperative owner, and a maid/housekeeper who's a great cook. Though we walked and swam along the beach once to go to town, you do need a small car or an all-terrain vehicle to get around, and nerves of steel to drive either.

This house is simply gorgeous!!! Very spacious, and in immaculate condition! Located at the top of a hill on a small peninsula you have breathtaking views of the extensive wild beaches that surround the area of Las Terrenas... Walking distance to the beach, accessibility to little kiosks and restaurants nearby. The owners were very accommodating, very knowledgeable and were more than happy to suggest activities, attractions and nearby restaurants.. I would definitely stay there again! I highly reccommend this rental.

We had the pleasure of staying in the charming home just west of las Terrenas in this private hill community in 2009. A beautiful multi- level home with many out door decks and porches, we found that from the airy and open house we had views in many directions. Just a short walk to developed beaches with amenities or to beaches where we could walk in solitude with the natural environment undeveloped.Restaurants were varied and offered both elegant and simple fare. Day time activities were abundant from walks to waterfalls, touring on quad vehicles, and dancing in many different places. People were friendly and helpful, and we found the stay there easy, relaxing and an antidote to the cold stressful winter at home. We highly recommend it.

I have returned to this house a couple times since my first visit was beyond my expectations. Its located near a town thats not too touristy yet still has plenty of amenities. Many great restaurants and places to go dancing in the evening. I never felt like I wasn't safe. With picturesque views, you are fine staying in the house and lounging but there is also a variety of beaches within walking distance from the house. Theres a marina right down the road as well that you can rent boats and go out on the ocean with. The management was very hospitable, the house was completely clean and comfortable. They met my every need. Highly recommend this house.

This comfortable home sits high atop a hill where it can catch the ocean breezes, affording a view over lush tropical vegetation to a panoramic view of the blue sea beyond. There are three spacious, cool bedrooms and two full baths downstairs, and upstairs, a nice open space that moves easily from kitchen to living room, to outdoor dining area and open deck, with plenty of space--I really never wanted to leave. But when I was ready to explore, I found at the foot of the hill, one of the loveliest beaches I've ever seen, white sand lined with coconut palms. With calm crystal clear waters sheltered by offshore reefs, it's ideal for swimming and snorkeling. A short walk down the beach road takes you to good, simple restaurants and beach bars, or to fishermen selling fresh-caught shrimp. Not touristy at all, the town itself is colorful and lively, especially at night, with places to dance and mingle--though mostly we stayed in and looked up at the stars. We've stayed here twice, and look forward to coming back for another visit soon...
