We could not have been happier with this home. The pristine grounds, the view from every window, the fabulous porch, and the warm hospitality of the owners made this a wonderful vacation for us. The house was very well maintained, in a great location, and the attential to detail was right on. The artfully placed antiques, the collection of books on the area, binoculars for creature watching (we took them on a whale watch), charcoal grill, fire pit, kayak, etc... The amenities were all there for us. We had perfect summer weather every day, and even got a full September moon on our last night.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Always pleased when a family's experiences are so positive.

This is my fourth stay in David and Susan's lovely home. I say home because it is so much more than a cottage. As usual everything was perfect, David was very accommodating which is the norm. The place was spotless, the fire pit was a blast and while the weather did not cooperate, (it rained almost the whole time) it was still a very enjoyable stay. Why you might ask? Because if you have to stay indoors a bit this is the place to be. Comfortable, cozy yet with huge views. I will definitely be back.Owner response: Thank you....we try to assure enjoyment with everything, but are not always successful with the weather!!!

The cottage is even nicer than the pictures. It was spotless, clean as a whistle, beautifully decorated and very welcoming. David Lawrence is the definition of a host. There if you need him,but not intrusive. We were thrilled with the property; the views were gorgeous! The house was rented as a gathering place for family who had come from afar for my son's wedding at Clark Cove Farm. It was perfect. The porch is fantastic for visiting with family. Coffee and pie on the porch gazing at the Great Salt Bay - heaven. My husband and I will be back to enjoy it just by ourselves!Owner response: Expect that pie was Maine Blueberry....none better; pleased the porch was perfect!

This was our 8th visit to Beckoning Bay – and we were the first guests. The owners are lovely people who keep the cottage very comfortable, clean and delightfully furnished. The centerpiece, of course, is the spectacular view of the Salt Bay from the porch and dock. The flyovers by bald eagles, herons, crows, and all manner of shore birds is a perpetual treat. Obviously since this is our 8th stay here, we love it. Thanks so much for making our dream spot available!Owner response: When a cottage owner receives a review like this about their rental property, it is something to "crow about" and say thank you!

Beckoning Bay Cottage is a lovely home overlooking a picturesque bay in scenic Newcastle, Maine. The home boasts two bedrooms, the second of which is perfect for children, along with a massive and fabulous porch, gorgeous lawn, dock leading out to the water and canoe and kayaks, and plenty of room to cook and relax. My husband, child, and I enjoyed escaping our NYC dwellings to spread out amongst the two bedrooms and bathrooms, spacious kitchen, living room, and porch - all of which are nicely furnished and in excellent condition. The house includes all of the essential amenities and plenty of bonuses (fire pit for smores!). The area itself is charming and full of wonderful restaurants and lobster shacks, antique and quilt shops, walking trails, and enough gorgeous docks and decks overlooking water to make anyone want to move permanently. I don't know what I preferred more - gnoshing on a lobster roll in "town," while overlooking the water and incoming and outgoing lobster boats OR cozying up on our porch with a glass of vino. Either way, my experience was a 10/2 thumbs up/4 stars! I should also not fail to mention that the owner is a kind, lovely, and very helpful man!Owner response: It is always a special treat for owners when guests enjoy the features of both the Cottage and its wonderful spot on the Mid Coast of Maine...

This cottage is a lovely place to relax & enjoy the view. It's beautifully decorated & feels like "home" as soon as you enter. There are some lovely antiques & artwork to enjoy & everything is nicely done, no cast-offs from what we could see! Newcastle is a perfect location, close to shopping, good local restaurants, the ocean - what more can you ask? We spent two weeks but will be back for a month next year & feel perfectly comfortable recommending Beckoning Bay to others. We enjoyed an eagle flying by almost daily, kept an osprey nest with two chicks in our scope's sight, found some great nearby walks & followed the "relax" advice to the letter. David is a great host has our thanks for a lovely stay.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: "Relax" is an essential expectation at Beckoning Bay Cottage and we are pleased these folks did that!

We loved our time at Beckoning Bay for our anniversary. We spent a long weekend there and had just enough time to explore the area and relax! The views from the cottage are wonderful and we enjoyed breakfasts and candlelight BBQ dinners on the porch :-) The cottage has everything you need and we especially enjoyed the use of the canoe. We spent plenty of time exploring Salt Bay and watching the wildlife. So much to do in the area, so be sure to visit Boothbay and hike along the shore at Dodge Point. David was extremely friendly and attentive; we will be sure to be back in the future.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are always pleased when guests have a great experience and especially so, when the occasion is a celebration of an anniversary!

This place is perfect! The pictures do not do it justice at all, and my wife and I were amazed when we first walked in the door. The furnishings were top-notch and David's hospitality was beyond wonderful. Easily the best vacation rental we have ever had. We saw bald eagles overhead every day and the property is extremely quiet, with no neighbors within view. If you are looking for serenity, relaxation and views that can't be beat, look no further. We plan on trying to come back next year because we honestly don't think we could do better!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are as enthusiastic about this young couple as they are about the Cottage and look forward to their return...

Beckoning Bay is simply stunning. It is in a wonderful, peaceful location overlooking the Great Salt Bay. A great treat when we stayed was watching the resident bald eagle make a daily appearance! The enclosed porch is huge and such a lovely place to relax, overlooking the Bay, especially if the weather is inclement. The rowing boat was fun to take out in the Bay. The cottage is beautifully decorated, well equipped and has gorgeous furnishings - very "New England". It was the perfect place for us and we certainly would recommend the cottage for anyone who wants plenty of space, with serene and beautiful surroundings, and plenty of places to visit in the area. We particularly liked Damariscotta - a lovely little town with excellent eateries and shops, and even a theatre above the book shop.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are so pleased our guests from England enjoyed our special spot in New England...

The photos and description on the website are what drew us to rent Beckoning Bay for two weeks. It was just what we wanted-a place to be in nature with the comforts of home. The cottage is beautifully decorated; the furniture is lovely and comfortable; nice linens, well supplied overall. The view is spectacular at all times of the day and the sunrises over the water are just amazing. Bald eagles, blue herons and various shore birds fly over the water. It's a great place to use as a "home base" if you like to sightsee and it's a wonderful place to relax and read.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: This is our first year having a rental Cottage and these were our very first occupants so we really appreciate their kind remarks! We feel privileged to have been given several spectacular sunrise and flower photographs taken during their stay. There is a small sign in the Cottage that just says "Relax", and I think they did....
