My wife and I stayed in the Rumi house a year ago last October (2010). We loved the experience and Crestone. Electra was quite welcoming and let us do our thing. We loved the coffee shop right next door. One morning I went over to get our coffee. While inside a guy came in with a cowboy hat and chaps on. He was a crusty guy. One of the visitors from California, who was also getting coffee, gave him a big hug...must've met him while in Crestone on retreat. After getting my coffee, I walked outside and there was a horse and saddle tied up at the entrance...I love it...a real cowboy riding into town to get some java. We also thoroughly enjoyed hiking and exploring the various spiritual centers near Crestone...the people at these places were also quite welcoming. Our experience was a good one and we would stay there again. JimRecommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Hello Jim, Thanks so much for the review. Sounds like you had a fun and unique experience. Crestone is definitely a town of diversity. Hope you come stay with us again. Electrum

Sad to say that out of the hundreds of people staying at this house that were happy, they were not the ones to post a review. The group of people booked for July 6th did not have their needs met. Crestone is a small town and I try my best to work with what is possible. It would be nice to have only customers who come to Crestone of their own choice and come to openly experience what is available. I offer modest accommodations at $75 per night which is less then a hotel and my idea is to offer much more on all levels and do try to go an extra step when ever possible. Sometimes I fall short of others expectations. This I believe is what has happened with the group that presented the only review. I am not sure weather to take the review personal as I have asked customers when I meet them. Believe it or not they have praised the beauty of the land and what has been accomplished by one single mom. I was not in town to greet this group of people. They were already unhappy due to everything already being booked and a wedding they needed to be at. I believe I may have been the only choice. I live in a small friendly community and would like to keep the positive energy going and am genuinely interested in any feedback or help if you care to pass on. Thanks Much ElectrumDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/5

the pics on line were well taken ,but for the money all try something else next time . the loft was were the bed room was and it looked like a childs bed room from the posters on the wall a mattress thrown on the floor ..it looked like some one left for the week end so we could stay in there home, rather tacky if you ask me..the refrigerator was full of food i was afraid of.the cu-bard in the kitchen was the same way and they charged me a cleaning fee it needed to be cleaned before i got there ...no lighting around the place so finding it was an experience drove all over town at 2am pitch black after 1 hr we found it ..when morning came we walked out side and it looked like we were in the middle of a junk yard . when we went over to the buda bar to pay the bill we meet attitude from the bar tender she made us sit at the bar for a long time before she finaly walked over to ask what we wanted .. i guess we wernt locals so they didnt want to wait on us when i gave her the money i told her we would be staying an extra day she began to give me a hard time again never had such a hard time trying to give some one money before should have gotten her name, but she has long white hair some one needs to tell her about customer serviceDid you find this review helpful?
