Great little getaway cabin, well-equipped with modern appliances (including washer/dryer) and satellite tv. Enjoyed the beautiful walking paths on the property, and the quiet. Easy access to Madison and Spring Green attractions, as well as to local hiking and biking trails. Owner very helpful and nice.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: At DaleWood Retreat our goal is to make your stay very enjoyable by providing for your comfort and needs; after all, that's your desire and certainly ours ! Come for a stay soon.

My husband and I needed to get away and stayed here for three nights--wish we had stayed longer--everything was incredible and as other reviews share.....very clean, quiet, has everything you need, within driving distance of many things to see, owner very helpful and hospitable (including his dog, Mya)--beautiful scenery--wonderful weather. We left home with snow still on the ground and 45 degrees--to see everything so green and have high 70 degree temps was wonderful. We went to House on the Rock, Circus World, Madison and a few other places--definitely want to go back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I have never written a review before in my life but after staying at Dale`s place I just felt like I had to. The cottage was extremely clean, well kept and decorated to perfection. The vacation that I am writing about was the first time my girlfriend and I went on one alone and we couldn`t have scripted a better trip. We went to the House on The Rock, Cave of the Mounds and a winery. If anyone is looking for a laid back place, with amazing views and fun places to go during the day, look no farther because this place is perfect. I would recommend the cottage to anyone and I sure hope all future visitors have just as much fun as we did.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our visit was very pleasant - very tranquil, quiet and beautiful view! Great ease in checking in and out - The property was extremely clean, well equipped and the owner was most gracious! His dog and cat ae the most friendliest and a joy to have around - the trails were awesome. There is so much to see close by - Frank Lloyd Wright's home, House on the Rock, great shopping in Madison about an hour away. We highly recommend this VRBO.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We spent four very enjoyable days at the DaleWood Retreat. The house is well-maintained, clean, and attractive. Nice toiletries, thick towels, and complimentary bottles of water were provided, along with coffee and tea. Dale kept a low profile after our initial meeting, but he is available if anything is needed. We saw more of Maya, his dog, as she was usually around but was very well-behaved and sweet. There are hiking trails on the property, and we hiked them two of the nights we were there. While we were staying at DaleWood, we went kayaking on the Wisconsin River, drove to Devils Lake Park to hike, visited several wineries and cheese factories, and rode on one of the bike trails. This home would be good for a quiet get-away, a base of operations, or a combination of the two.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Such a great stay! Bed were comfy, shower had great water pressure (and owner provided soap and shampoo), it was roomy and plush, kitchen was stocked with all the essentials and a few delightful surprises! We used and enjoyed all amenities -the grill, the firepit, the bench overlooking the amazing vista, the walking trails adorned with charming statues. The place was so clean, well maintained, and the owner couldn't have been more acommodating. He was there when we needed him, otherwise we didn't see him. No cell service for AT&T or T-Mobile which was a welcome reprieve! Highly recommend!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dale was a great host and went out of his way to see that all of our needs were takin care of. His dog and cat provided entertainment while we sipped coffee in the mornings with there antics. We loved all the birds and the wonderful vistas the property offered. Great location for taliesin and house on the rock tours. We had planned on staying two nights and enjoyed our stay so much we asked if we could stay one more night. I think a fall visit to Dales property would be a treat with all the trees.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I stayed 3 nights and loved it. Dale was welcoming and helpful. He greeted us upon arrival but then left us to our own devices for the rest of the stay. We enjoyed hiking around the beautiful property--we did a different trail each day and never ran out of things to see. We also had a tour guide for each hike: Buddy the cat accompanied us along the trails. The cabin was clean and comfortable. We were close enough to visit a lot of cute little towns and do some sightseeing but the cabin was remote enough that we felt like we were actually getting away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return in the fall to watch the leaves turn. I highly recommend staying with Dale!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.
