This studio is just right, perfect, pick your own words. It is comfy, airy, large. The yard is a gorgeous garden. You have access to washer/dryer , SAUNA ! If you are a Sauna user like we are, this one is right on the money as far as time and temp to heat. I would highly recommend this place to a couple or even 4. We had a friend stay one night and we were all comfortable. When we go back to Hilo, OUR HILO HOME will be our place.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Me and my wife stayed here for our first time in Hawaii just this last week and it was a fantastic place to stay. The owner made our stay perfect by providing everything we would need to have a great vacation (including snorkeling gear, boogie boards, and all things needed to cook up meals). One thing we did not see in the pictures of this listing but were extremely grateful to find out it included was a full functioning stove and oven. If you are looking for a place to stay in order to take in all the big island has to offer then look no further. This is a cozy place to stay and my wife and I had a great time during our stay here. We are already planning out our next trip to Hawaii and if we decide to stay on the big island again; there is a definite possibility we will stay here again. A few places we found during our stay that we would recommmend include: - Hilo Farmers market - Hilo Homemade Ice Cream - Richardson Beach Park (Hilo) - Akaka Falls and Rainbow Falls (Outside Of Hilo) - Punaluu Black Sand Beach (Naalehu) - and finally Lava Rock Cafe before and/or after you go to Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park (Volcano)Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I loved staying in this place! The studio is spacious, very clean, inviting, private and well equipped. Most important to me was the very comfortable bed, big sofa, terrific shower, satellite TV + wireless internet. The kitchen has a full-sized fridge, double sink and coffee provisions with both a standard drip coffee maker/grinder and a pod coffee maker. The colors and furnishings are fresh, terrific and inviting. There is a shared sauna and a full-sized washer & dryer just outside the door in the garage. This studio is above a larger 1 bedroom unit. There are lots of windows which look out over a large lush yard on the edge of the jungle. I could hear Coqui frogs in the evening and the distant waterfall in the canyon beyond the back yard. This was all very nice to return to after exploring the about the Island. The downtown area of Papaikou is about a 10 minute drive away, with good shopping and many terrific restaurants take-away eateries. Also convenient are Richardson Beach, Volcano National Park and the Mauna Kea Observatory and other attractions. This place was perfect for me offering a comfortable retreat with all of the comforts of home. I will definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: So glad you enjoyed your stay, Jeff! We'd love to have you back anytime. By the way, I'm sure you meant downtown Hilo, not Papaikou, is 10 minute drive (actually more like 5, though it's such a beautiful drive I wouldn't mind if it were 10) as Papaikou is just a short walk, but you couldn't call it much of a town, with just a bakery, post office, market and little else, there's not much to it. Just the way we like it. ;-)

This home is convenient and beautiful inside and out! The beds are comfortable, so we slept great and awoke refreshed! Internet worked great. We didn't stay long enough to cook in, but there's a full size refrigerator and all the necessary appliances to bring home delicious ingredients from the Hilo Farmer's Market and create a feast of your own. The location is just outside of Hilo and it was nice to get out of town to relax. But it's still super easy to hop on Hwy 19 to head North toward Wailea and just as easy to head South on 19 toward Hwy 11 to Volcanoes National Park. The onsite property manager is very kind as well! The singing frogs are an added bonus! We will be back.........and hopefully sooner than later! Mahalo for opening up your Hilo Home and Aloha until next time!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks, Luz, I just now saw that you'd written a review, how nice of you! I wish we could have met, but would love to have you back anytime, perhaps when we're there in the summer. Todd said they'd enjoyed having you there. Mahalo! Guy
