Max's Lakeside Cabin is a fantastic getaway spot on the shores of beautiful Lake Lure. Comfortable and lovely, the living space of this waterfront cabin is enhanced by a beautiful deck that has a wonderful, westward view of the lake, sunsets, and surrounding mountains. The cabin sits on a cool, shaded lot on the eastern end of the lake in a nice quiet, no-wake cove just a short canoe ride away from the main channel and views of spectacular Rumbling Bald Mountain. You can even paddle to one of several lake front restaurants. The property includes a boathouse with a deck for sunning, a dock for swimming, and a canoe for exploring the contours of the lake. The cabin has just the right balance of comfort and convenience. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and the second bedroom has 2 twin beds. There is a double futon in the living room that can sleep 2 people. New stainless steel appliances and the open kitchen/living room area make cooking, eating and watching movies a pleasure.

We had the best time!
My husband and I had a relaxing couple of days before we went to pick up our daughter. We canoed to the restaurant and swam and just hung out. Our little dog was a swimming fool she was right there in the water with us. Thank you again for letting us bring her.
When we picked up our daughter and brought her back she exclaimed, 'This is the best hotel ever.' She also was able to canoe and swim with our dog. We rented a boat and explored the lake. It is so beautiful.
We all agreed that we will definitely come back next year. Next time, though, we'll try to stay much longer.
We had fabulous time!! The cabin was so large and homey. You have thought of every thing we could of needed. We will definitely recommend your cabin to our family and friends. Thanks again for helping us have a wonderful vacation!

We booked three nights and I can only say positive things about Max's! The house if immaculate; the beds very comfortable. The home faces West so early morning shade made for excellent fishing off the boathouse and beautiful sunsets in the evening. It is conveniently located 3 miles from Lake Lure Marina and Chimney Rock NC State Park (which we hiked & would highly recommend). Several local places to eat and a narrated Pontoon boat ride from the Marina was lots of fun. The home has wonderful natural light and a wonderful deck off the kitchen for outside dining; the decor is very peaceful and soothing. I will definitely be reserving again in the future but for a full week next time. Additionally, the canoe provided to renters was wonderful and we explored many serene coves and traversed the lake as well! Thank you Alice for providing the respite and beautiful mountain views from your home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at Max's for the week of August 18 - 25 and had a fantastic time. The cabin was everything we hoped for and more. The description and photos were spot-on and the place was immaculate when we arrived. It has such a homey and relaxing atmosphere that we didn't want to leave. The whole area is beautiful and the people are very cordial. We took a day trip to the Biltmore Estates - a must see. We also hiked in Chimney Rock Park - a great adventure! The cabin also is a great place to just relax in a secluded spot right on the lake. The deck faces west so the sunsets over the lake were spectacular. We would highly recommend Max's Cabin to everyone! Thank you Alice - your hospitality is second to none.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Max's cabin was well equipped and maintained. The location is peaceful, near restaurants, Ingles grocery (approx 2 miles), and many activities. Across from Ingles grocery, we walked dogs at Don Ross park. The half mile loops were convenient to exercise dogs on days that we didn't go on longer hikes. A canoe is provided. We also brought our kayaks. You can get a weekly permit at Municipal building for $12. We loved the fenced in area for our corgis. We hiked Chimney Rock, and Dupont State Forest approx 40 miles away. We highly recommend Dupont as it has several sets of waterfalls and many trails. We hiked with the corgis, but there are mountain biking and horseback riding trails there as well. Additionally, we took in the Biltmore Estate in Ashville. Plan for at least a full day for the Biltmore to take in the entire estate (and get yours $ worth) as the audio tour takes about 3 hours. We really enjoyed our time at Max's cabin and would stay again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Wonderful little cabin, clean and perfect for a nice quiet week in the mountains. We take our dogs and they have a great time swimming. It is just a little tricky getting them out of the lake since they have to climb the ladder but I find it easy to lift my smaller one up to the dock and the larger dog has nearly figured out the ladder so just needs a boost. It is close to the town of Lake Lure and an easy drive to Chimney Rock Park. This was our third year staying at the cabin and we plan on returning next year.Did you find this review helpful? We stayed one week at this cabin. It was perfect for my husband and me. It had everything we wanted (except a washer/dryer). The beds were comfortable. The shower is tiny, but usable. It has an open layout with fabulous views. We enjoyed the canoe and swimming in the lake. It is close to other attractions we wanted to see. Would recommend to others. We will stay there again. (Thanks, Alice!!)Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

We had a fantastic time at Max's - every day we paddled around the lake in the canoe and cooled off with a refreshing swim. This cabin has a great layout, is very clean, well-maintained, and completely renovated. Max's is located on the quiet side of the lake a few minutes away from the main tourism area. The kitchen is the best one we've seen in a vacation rental, with plenty of workspace and lighting, and the gas grill makes it easy - no charcoal to bring. At night we kept the windows open and enjoyed the cool night air, waking to the sound of birds singing and geese calling over the lake. We couldn't believe how peaceful it is at night! There are plenty of attractions nearby, but we stayed at the cabin, walking the dog and enjoying the lake. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with a beautiful view and lake activities. The water will soothe your spirit and you will come away rejuvenated.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Our family wanted to try somewhere new this vacation and decided to try out Lake Lure. Max's Lakeside Cabin was an excellent base for us to explore the region, and we enjoyed hiking at nearby Chimney Rock Park, visiting the Biltmore estate and swimming in the lake (the water was very warm as we were there during a week of 90 degree days). The cabin itself easily accommodated our family of four and our dog. The kitchen was well stocked and we used the gas grill each night. The cove where the cabin is located is very private and quiet. In fact, there was only one other neighbor out of eight neighboring properties present the entire week. We enjoyed the tranquility of having coffee at the boathouse every morning while our kids swam nearby. Thank you for sharing your property with us!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

We loved this cozy comfortable home away from home. It was everything we hoped it would be. Even though there were other houses nearby, the way this house is situated you have a lot of privacy. Sitting on the back deck was like sitting in a tree house looking down over the lake. There's a great deck on top of the boathouse (in which you can find a big tube, chairs, umbrella and life vests and oars for the canoe). The property is situated in a nice private cove and the swimming was great - our two dogs weren't much for swimming, but they really loved the canoe rides we took around the lake. A very peaceful spot. The cabin was very clean and well equipped - we only had to bring food and toiletries. The owner was very responsive to questions and we really appreciated that we could bring our two little dogs....the yard has fencing so they could romp around the yard without having leashes on all the time. Good places to eat: Larkins on the Lake, Point of View both nearby and LaStrada Italian which is down in the town area overlooking the beach. The grocery store (Ingles) is a full size store and has everything you'll need if you don't feel like eating out. Definitely take the boat tour - it'll give you a good perspective of the lake. Also, there are great hikes at Chimney Rock State Park nearby (the dogs can go too!) Would highly recommend Max's Cabin. Thank you Alice for sharing your wonderful little paradise!! The cabin was very clean and had a lot of amenities. Having linens, papertowels and basic soaps available was also a plus and made it easier packing. The view of the lake was good and the boathouse had rafts, chairs and other water toys as well. You must take a scenic tour of the lake so you can get the history of the lake. It was very interesting and you don't realize the lake is so big. We spent the afternoons floating in the lake and laying in the sun at the boathouse. It was a very enjoyable week and we would definitely consider coming back here.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

This was a great cabin. Linens and some paper products and soaps were included in the cabin by the owner and that was such a help in packing. The lake was beautiful and we thought there were a lot of amenities in the cabin. It was a very cute cabin and very clean. We especially loved the plush pilllows and blankets. We just loved lounging at the boat house and swimming in the lake in the afternoon. There were rafts and other floats available as well. You definitely need to take a guided tour of the lake, that was very interesting. The only downside to this area is the mountain roads and hills make it hard for walking long distances and biking.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
