As you pass through the stone pillars and drive up the winding rhododendron-lined driveway you will be transported into the by-gone era of the early 1900s when travelers sought solace in the mountain retreats of North Carolina. This newly renovated cottage is attractively decorated and tucked away on a private 12-acre estate in Laurel Park dating from the early 1900s. Only 1 ½ miles from downtown, you will be minutes from the shops and restaurants of Hendersonville and Flat Rock, yet have the privacy of this comfortable retreat. Enjoy the mountain views and acres of attractively landscaped gardens featuring mountain laurel, hydrangeas, rhododendron, azaleas and peonies. From your cottage, take a short stroll on well-maintained walking trails to a pretty neighborhood stream or a scenic pond.
The cottage has newly refinished heart pine floors and paneling making a very cozy retreat. The sunroom has views of the gardens on three sides and a brick wood burning fireplace to take the chill off late fall evenings. There are two bedrooms and a shared bath. The master bedroom has a queen size bed with a down comforter. The second bedroom has a single bed.
The cottage is located just 18 miles south of Asheville. It is a short drive if you want to spend a day exploring the Biltmore House and grounds or the shops of Biltmore Village. You will be close to Dupont State Forest which boasts a number of beautiful waterfalls as well as various hiking and biking trails. Whether you want to spend the day fly fishing on the Davidson River in Pisgah National Forest, take a picnic and drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway, or go to a play at the Flat Rock Playhouse, your hosts will be happy to advise you. We do not allow smoking or pets on the property.

This cottage is well appointed. Every detail was covered by the owners. It has easy access and beautiful grounds. Other houses are close by but if you're looking for easy access in a beautiful setting, this cottage is for you.Owner response: Fall is a beautiful time to be on the property as many varieties of sasanqua camellias are in bloom. There are numerous walking routes from the cottage to enjoy the fall foliage and mountain views.

My husband and 2 small children stayed here for a long weekend. The location is great, super close to downtown Hendersonville, yet you feel like you are "away" as the owners have 12 acres that is filled with lush beautiful gardens and endless flowers. We loved how beautiful and peaceful the property was and my kids had fun roaming around, picking flowers, dandelions and exploring. It is also very close to the country club. The cottage itself is clean, well-maintained and cozy. It had everything we needed, including an air mattress for my youngest child. The owners are very friendly and accomodating and even provided fresh fruit, muffins and milk for us upon arrival. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a quaint cottage & beautiful property, that feels "away from it all", yet is super close to town as your home base while vacationing in Hendersonville!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

If you are searching for the perfect spot to find respite from a busy life...look no further! Laurel Cottage is absolutely adorable, and the owners are so helpful and hospitable. There was a wonderful basket of breakfast items prepared for us upon our arrival, and there were even logs in the fireplace just waiting to be lit! The scenery is beautiful, and there are wonderful walking trails with many small waterfalls and streams along the way. The best recommendation was offered by our 12 year old son when he said, "I like this place, because it feels just like home!"Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
