  The place was wonderful with everything we needed for a week-long stay including a full kitchen, beach amenities, and laundry. The mowers came one day and could have been rather annoying, if we stayed there over the day. The beach is not easily accessible with a very strenuous hike down a steep beach front. Definitely not suitable after the rain or for older or unfit people (I was 36 at the time).

  We prefer a unique, private place like this to a resort. It's quiet, private (except for some farm workers and their equipment during the day), it's off the beaten path, has some character, no room service and no maids to make your bed. If that's what you like, then you will like this place. 15--20 minute walk to great beaches where you might be the only ones on the beach. The house is about 700 sq. ft, in size, it is a detached single family home that sits by itself right in the middle of a nicely mowed farm field. It is a fairly full featured house and even has a clothes washer-dryer. You could actually live here. The kitchen has a 4-burner stove/oven/broiler, refrigerator/freezer, blender, coffeemaker, microwave, most utensils, but could use more food storage containers and a toaster oven. Bathroom needs a new toilet seat, the shower is nice. There is an outside shower too. The audio system is limping along on 1 scratchy speaker. Good internet connection with Wi-Fi and decent cell phone signal. Great selection of interesting books and some CD's. Comfortable sitting area in the living room. We like the vibe of the house and the way it is furnished, comfortable with a spiritual, artsy sense. Great natural food store only a 5 minute drive away. It's still pretty far from Hanalei though, figure about a 25-30 minute drive. There are no views per se from the house itself, but once you get outside and head towards the beach there are some great views of the mountains and then of course you are looking at the beautiful coastline as you descend down to the beaches. Overall was a nice place to call home temporarily, would stay again.

  We absolutely loved our stay in the farm cottage, so much that we didn't want to leave! The house itself felt very roomy for being a small cottage, and everything that we needed was there, even beach towels. The location couldn't have been better, away from it all, yet close enough to the small town of Kilawea, where we could buy groceries, and grab a cup of coffee, etc., and the proximity to the beach was a perfect hike with breathtaking views. We're ready to go back already!

  This property is exactly what it says it is : a lovely cottage tucked away on the beautiful North shore surrounded by lush Hawaiian farm fields. It is a great location because everything else you want to see is only a short drive away and you will begin and end each day in the peace and privacy of this farm. Everything is wonderful about this place - the space is beautiful and well kept, bigger than it appears in photos and each part of the cottage has something for everyone to appreciate: whether it is the sweet loft space that feels like the top of a lighthouse, the cozy living room, the great kitchen space to cook and sit in, and the peaceful bedroom that surrounds you by stars at night and then when you wake, surrounds you with sunlight. the delicious fruit provided (and which you can buy more of at the fruit stand) filled us up every day - more proof that this farm is full of goodness! At night, we would sit on the porch (wrap around) and enjoy the view of thousands of stars (no light pollution and you can't see anyone else from the the cottage) while listening to the breeze rustling in the banana and palm leaves. This is a much better alternative to being in a hotel or condo - you are supporting a farm and truly stepping away from everyday life. The nearby beach is indeed a bit of a steep climb but never mind because there are so many fantastic beaches on this island whether you stay on the North shore or head all the way down to the West, it is all within easy and fast reach. We found that the most delicious places to eat were in Kapaa and Hanalei, both a 15minute drive in either direction. Jolyn was wonderful in helping us to set up our stay and her warmth proves you are in trusted hands. This is the real deal and you will be so happy to discover this gem!

  We loved this very attractive, clean, well landscaped cottage in a very private location. Lots of nice creative touches throughout the cottage and it feels larger than the photos. We loved the outdoor shower, laundry facilities, many cooking spices, more than adequate cookware, and that wonderful bowl of fruit to greet us when we arrived. We arrived at night and we missed the turn-off from Kuhio Hwy because there was no street sign and the other landmark sign was covered in shrubbery. The key lock box could be situated better so it could be read more easily in the dark by our car headlights. The beach is a very steep climb down and at least during the winter months the beach is clearly too dangerous to swim (nevertheless, beautiful). Jolyn was very responsive to our communications.   We were very pleased and overjoyed at the accommodations that the farm cottage at Kauai Sunrise Farms offered. The cottage was a true gem - quiet, off the grid a tad (but still close to other North Shore highlights), and it offered a lot of character that cannot be found at a hotel or resort. Big pluses for us were: access to secluded beaches that were very pristine and beautiful, privacy, bookshelf variety, wildlife noises, coastal tropical smells and breezes that offer ideal sleeping), a heavenly outdoor shower experience, and a great music collection:) So happy we found this spot and we hope to return to it someday!

  really a comfortable rental. very down-to-earth, clean and inviting. varied and interesting extras (games, books, music) provided that happened to be a perfect fit to our family. 8 year old was delighted with board games and book options during kauai north shore's daily torrential rain followed by blazing sun and clear skies, adults pleasantly surprised with provided books as well as simply gorgeous location. private but not remote, very enjoyable. only cons were there could have been a couple more pans for cooking, and the beach access is NOT suited for anyone over 60 or who has hiking challenges (one of the easiest best beaches in the world, Anini beach, is but a 5 min drive away). also the bbq tank was empty upon arrival, but was filled by very friendly manager immediately upon request. wouldn't hesitate to rent again or recommend.

  The place was amazing. As we arrived it was clean and everything as described. The walk to the beach was more than expected. Once we walked down the path, then we had to sharply go down the hill to a very rocky beach. After we crossed the rocks we arrived to the beach descried. We had a great time Farmers markets and great eating was all over close by. The host Jolyn was great and helpful. We'll be back.

  The location of the cottage was a little remote- as in you would need a car to get anywhere- but we knew that and were expecting it. It is absolutely peaceful and serene, and we loved soaking in the quiet each morning and night. Sure there are roosters but they didn't bother us much. We were already awake anyway. The rental is in great condition and was super cute and spacious. The bathroom has beautiful tile and the sleeping space was more than we expected. We absolutely loved our stay here and can't recommend it enough.

  My husband and I had such a wonderful time at this cottage. It's very private and feels set away from it all. It's my understanding that the owner and her children lived there for a time. You can feel that the place was well loved. There are wonderful books all around to flip through and lots of lovely nick knacks that only come from time well spent in a home. If you are like my husband and I and don't consider yourself the "corporate resort luau" type and are looking to experience Kauai the way those who live there do look no further. My husband plays music and I practice yoga and there was a guitar and a yoga mat it in the living room! Did I mention the amazing outdoor shower? The North Shore of Kauai is as beautiful as you can possibly imagine and all of it is nearby to this cottage as well as the towns of Princeville and Hanalei for food shopping, restaurants and night life. But while on the farm you are surrounded by nature with views of the ocean a short walk away. The property manager was very helpful and easy going as well. Thanks Jolyn!
