My daughter described Casa Carole as "heaven on earth." And she didn't exaggerate! My family and I went to San Miguel to celebrate my 60th birthday, and we wanted it to be special in every way. Casa Carole was extraordinary. The main house and casita were perfect for us...so many beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces, tastefully and artistically decorated. A great place to hang out and relax, it was also centrally located to everything San Miguel has to offer. Bill Meyer was incredibly helpful with suggestions of places to go to and restaurants to try.. Teresa and Rosa, the staff at the house were delightful- warm and welcoming. Casa Carole is a magical treasure. I am still smiling broadly a week after returning home. Can't wait to return!

spectacular villa in the centre of town
spectacular villa in the centre of town
A group of 9 of us recently spent a week at Casa Carole, celebrating several 60th birthdays. We were overwhelmed by the beauty and spaciousness of the villa, the attention to detail in the decor and amenities, the location that is both central and in a quiet neighbourhood and the friendly assistance from the owners and Rosa & Teresa, the maids. This is the third such "villa" vacation that our group has taken and, by far, Casa Carole has been the most spectacular. It is great value for the money and we would highly recommend it.

I want to live here!
I want to live here!
We spent one wonderful week here in Casa Carole. It is so beautiful - I didn't want to leave. We were in a party of nine adults and had so much space to enjoy the surroundings of the villa. The great room is where we spent the most time, a spacious room with loads of seating for us all. All the rooms are beautifully decorated with artifacts and paintings. The whole place is just perfect. I want to bring my whole family next time! The town is so pretty and welcoming.

A wonderful experience!
I couldn't have imagined such a wonderful experience! From the start, the owners of Casa Carole were charming and beyond helpful on every imaginable front -- from where to find the best bakery, guidance with house details, recommendations on restaurants and galleries, travel advise, etc. The house was impeccable when we arrived and every possible detail was sweetly attended to. There were 4 couples staying in the house, and we all were gloriously happy and spoiled the whole time. And what a house! The photos don't do it justice - spacious and elegant at every turn. Words can’t express our gratitude. Three things we enjoyed: • Kicking back and relaxing in the divine pool or on the picturesque terraces of this lovely house after a day in the historic town of San Miguel. • Shopping at local outdoor markets for meals and preparing delicious dinners at "home" surrounded by friends in an extraordinary setting. • Our night time after-dinner game of charades in the covered terrace overlooking the pool - nightcaps helped the creative juices. Other enjoyable experiences: exploring the art galleries throughout the city; wandering up to the main plaza in the evening to hear the live music; sampling the various local dishes at the many fabulous restaurants; joining the outdoor Zumba class in the park on Sunday; strolling through the food markets; shopping for local textiles, pottery and linens, meeting warm and welcoming expats living in San Miguel.

What a Grand Time We Had!
Hi Bill and Carole, Just wanted to let you know what a grand time we had in San Miguel. Casa Carole is so lovely. Your collection of art and artifacts is beautiful and was appreciated by all of us. We just loved your home in every way, and it was so convenient to town. Teresa and Rosa were wonderful. We ate or had drinks at the following places: Rosewood Hotel, La Sirena Gorda, The Restaurant, Ole Ole, La Aurora, Hotel Matilda, Harry's Bar, and even, gasp, El Grito (discovered my disco days are over). Lots of shopping and time to lounge, too. Thank you so much for providing the perfect place for my mother, daughter, and girlfriends to get together. Salud! Cecilia

The happiest vacation we've ever had
Dear Carole and Bill, Thank you so much for sharing your magnificent home with us. The beauty and comfort surpassed our wildest expectations! That, combined with the magic of San Miguel, made for the happiest and most carefree vacation we've ever had. Rosa and Theresa were wonderful and took very good care of us, and Luz's cooking was beyond compare. We will most definitely come back to SMA and would love to stay at Casa Carole again.

Our family recently gathered for a week in San Miguel to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday and everything about Casa Carole exceeded our expectations! It was truly one of the most spectacular homes we have stayed in during on our many travels. The house is absolutely stunning while being comfortable and inviting. The outdoor living spaces were incredible...the hardest decision was where to spend our time, by the pool on the covered patio, or under the star-covered canopy on the upper balcony. The pictures do not do it justice. The staff was friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in the door and Rosa's cooking was fabulous; don't miss her salsa. This was the perfect location for exploring the historic central district, private yet convenient. We walked everywhere, including morning excursions to the market, galleries, El Jardin, and a cooking class at Sazon that is not to be missed! A short taxi ride will take you to the Botanical Garden for an afternoons exploration. It is evident that Bill and Carole have poured their heart and soul into this very special home, along with Carole's beautiful art work. Our only regret was that we didn't have more time to spend, but we're already gathering friends for our next visit. Thank you Bill and Carole for sharing your home and hospitality. You made our visit magical!

This actually IS an amazing place!
This actually IS an amazing place!
This house is amazing! We just stayed here in June 2011 and everything you see in the pictures looks exactly like it is. I am in real estate in Palm Beach Florida and get to see alot of really really nice houses. This house is as nice or nicer than any I've seen or been in. And the fact that we actually lived there for 6 days was kind of unbelievable! I think we spent most of our time at the house either in the pool courtyard area, the Sala, or on top of the house on the rooftop patio. The house is close to the Jardin (10 minute walk or so) and really close to the Mercado San Juan de Dios. Our 5yr old LOVED the housekeepers/cooks Rosa and Theresa...and I agree they were great! For a once a lifetime experience I would highly recommend this house!

About: Bill, the lawyer in our family, and Carole, the artist of the two, have been married for over 25 years. One of the greatest and most fun adventures of our marriage has been buying and building our much loved home in San Miguel de Allende. Though having traveled to many other parts of the world, we have always been drawn to Magical Mexico! San Miguel has given us another life, new friends and a new second language ( more or less!!!) Over the last 16 years, we have spent approximately 4 years living in San Miguel. Be warned.....upon our first visit of 10 days, we returned home and promptly started to dream and scheme on how we could get back to this wonderful little town in the mountains. Let it be said, like may before us, we fell (hard) under the spell of San Miguel de Allende! Bill and Carole
Why Centro Historico:
We fell so in love with the town and with our location......love the San Juan de Dios Church and the beautiful gardens around it! The weather, people, food and cultural activities were all there for us to enjoy. Building and decorating out home was great fun and a wonderful learning experience.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Oh my God.....let me list the ways! Well, TIME.... Time to spend with old friends, leisurely lunches, enjoying the perfect weather, taking some classes, the fresh food, the new friends, both Mexican, American, Canadian, Italian, etc, etc!! We love our home....it has been a work in progress that took several years to complete. (This means we did spend many months actually working our tails off!) But now.....it is massages, dips in the pool, manicures, pedicures, FABULOUS food prepared by Terri ....AND.....I never clean, change a bed, wash a dish.......you get the idea.....makes it hard to come back home to Portland!!!
