This is what some of our guests have to say...
'Fantastic accomodation - great location!'
My daughter and I just spent a week in the Coach House in Kitsilano - and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The Coach House is extremely comfortable. It is very well equipped and finished with high quality materials. It was great to be able to cook for ourselves at times (several grocery stores close at hand) and the kitchen has everything you need. The beds and linens are of high quality and very comfortable. It is spotlessly clean. We could not have been more comfortable. The welcome basket was a nice treat. Great to have the wifi and the in house laundry. The accomodation is very private. Julia was very accomodating and at the same time respected our privacy. And of course, Kitsilano is a wonderful neighbourhood to stay in. Lots of shopping very close by - groceries and boutiques. Lots of good restaurants in the neighbourhood. We walked everywhere - around Kits, to Granville Island, the Beach, Gas Town. And of course if it was raining or too far, public transit is close at hand. And the Coach House offers lots of room to relax when we returned home. When we return to Vancouver we will definitely want to stay here again!
Great Find!
'We visited Vancouver for four days with our two sons, aged one and four, and wanted a comfortable place in a great neighbourhood. The Avalon Guest Suite was perfect. The apartment is comfortable and clean, and the location is great. It is located on a charming, tree-lined street with a short walk from the shops on Broadway.' ~DA
'Loved this bright, beautifully decorated suite. It's in a great safe neighbourhood, within walking distance to everything you would ever need...and more. We were there in October and the maple trees were turning their gorgeous colours.
The suite is very well equipped for preparing your own meals. Grocery stores are close by. You don't really need a car.
Thanks to the O'Dwyer family for a lovely stay. We will be back next year...' ~HappyTrails

We had an excellent stay at the Avalon Guest Suite and Coach House. The houses were very nicely furnished and decorated to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Julia and her family were all very nice and very accommodating during our stay. Prices were also very reasonable and I was very glad we stayed here rather than at some 4-star hotel downtown which would have been slightly more expensive. I'd say this place is better than a lot of 4-star hotels I stay at. This house is also located very close to Broadway street which provides easy walking access to many restaurants and coffee shops located along the street. There's also a Safeway about 10 mins (walking) away where you can get groceries if you are preparing a quick meal. The beach is a little bit further, but you can walk there in about 20 mins, which goes by fast, especially if you are exploring Vancouver for your first. The house also provides free WiFi, plenty of cups, plates, utensils, etc. They even leave some basic spices in the cabinets for cooking. There's also a small charcoal you can use if you want to BBQ. Beds were very comfortable and bathroom linens were plentiful top notch as well. Parking, if you need it, is also easily available. They keep a single spot in the back of the house and there seemed to be plenty of parking on the side street as well. Although, with its close proximity to a main street, you really don't need a car. You can also take the bus from Broadway into downtown. If you are taking a cab, expect around $15-$20 to get into downtown. If I had to nitpick, it would be that since the Guest Suite is located under the main house, so you can hear footsteps during the day. If you plan on spending your vacation indoors (which you shouldn't), I would recommend getting the Coach House for a little more seclusion. Bottom line: great place, great people, great price. The avalon Guest Suite certainly deserves its positive reviews. My husband and I recently stayed for 6 nights with our two young children (age 2.5 years, and age 6 months). It was perfect for our stay and I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for family friendly accommodation in a great Vancouver neighborhood. Arriving after a long flight, we were delighted to find that the owner (a lovely lady named Julia) had left a delicious apple & cinnamon cake for us to enjoy, along with some beautiful flowers, a huge bowl of fresh fruit, and tea, coffee and hot chocolate supplies. Our two year old was also delighted to find a fantastic selection of toys and books, which helped her to immediately feel at home. There was also a highchair and travel cot provided for our baby. The suite was spacious, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated/maintained. New carpets had just been fitted prior to our stay. It had a well-equipped kitchen, although we often chose to eat at some of the lovely restaurants just a short walk away. We were also pleased to find the suite had wifi, cable TV and iphone docking stations. The location was fantastic. The accommodation is a self-contained suite with secure and private access, on the ground floor level of the owners' house. It is on a lovely and peaceful tree-lined street of Kitsilano. We had initially considered renting a car for the week, but were glad we didn't as the suite was in walking distance of lots of shops, supermarkets, coffee shops and restaurants on W Broadway and W 4th avenue. There was also a bus stop nearby on MacDonald St, for trips to downtown Vancouver. From our initial enquiries, the owner Julia was always friendly and very helpful, responding quickly to emails and going out of her way to ensure we felt at home - even offering to provide a fresh supply of toys part way through our stay to keep our daughter happy! I'd certainly hope to stay here again if I return to Vancouver.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I stayed in the eco-friendly coach house for four nights with my daughter who is studying at UBC and we felt so at home. It is such a beautiful house, with everything you need, included a well equiped kitchen. And so nicely decorated, with luxurious amenities like a dockingstation for music and a flatscreen TV. It also has a private entrance and terrace and a lovely jacuzzi bath. We hardly left the house, it was so cozy! Thanks Julia and Family, we will come again.Did you find this review helpful? Moving to Vancouver from abroad we arrived with a few suitcases and called the Avalon Guest Suite our new home for the first ten days here. We could not have picked a better place! The suite is clean and cozy, fully equipped and well maintained - we did not find one thing broken. By arrival there were a delicious blueberry pie, some fruits and flowers to welcome us, and for our kids besides the crib and highchair even some bathtoys were provided. Julia and her family are very kind and were helpful in all our needs but still gave us privacy. The location is absoulutely gorgeous, there are shops, grocery stores, nice cafés and bars close by and bus stops to bring you nearly everywhere in town easily. We did not regret to not have brought a car. We are going to recommend this place to all our visitors.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The Avalon Guest Suite Coach House provided the perfect venue for our family to spend a long weekend in the beautiful city of Vancouver. Our well-equipped suite was beautifully decorated with eclectic furnishings. Our host welcomed us warmly upon arrival and there were fresh flowers and breakfast pastries awaiting us. The suite was very conveniently located- close to shops, amenities and transportation. All in all, we could not have been happier with our accomodations and would highly recommend the Avalon Coach House to others. Leslie Speirs and familyDid you find this review helpful? My husband and I stayed at the coach house for a week in September. The accommodations were everything as advertised - comfortable, modern amenities, clean, everything you would need for a home away from home. We found it to be a great location in a nice neighborhood of Vancouver with easy access both walking and via public transit to all our destinations in the city. We would gladly return and highly recommend for anyone else visiting Vancouver!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We spent 7 nights in the Avalon Coach House and found the rooms to be spacious, comfortable, and functional. Even on a very warm day, the cross breezes from the opened windows and skylight kept the rooms cool at night. As we flew to Vancouver, we could not bring supplies with us and were pleased to find the kitchen, living room, and bathrooms stocked with all the utensils & amenities we needed. The apple cake and fresh fruit was a gracious welcome as was Julia's warm greeting and information. We had a car but walked the beautiful tree lined and garden filled neighbourhood often. The waterfront and the coffee bistros, grocery stores, banks, and restaurants of Kitsilano are within walking distance. Even a gas station is nearby. At the end of the day, we sat on our private patio reviewing the experiences of the day and planning those for the next day. Thank you, Julia and Michael, for understanding the traveller's needs of comfort, cleanliness, charm, and functionality.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children.
